  1. You can't drive us crazy....well....I can tell you that you are no where close to driving us crazy yet. The way I see it -- the silly celiac diagnosis process is driving you crazy -- with good reason. Hang in there....change your mind a few more times if needed...we will still be here and most of us have felt much of your indecisiveness -- so not...
  2. Wooo Hooo -- I had a waffle today
  3. Did you say a buck and a half...be right up
  4. 20th Century Breakdown -- Green Day
  5. 'twas you...but Shroomie would have laughed at me too -- silly city girl that I am -- so the raised beds that I planned out with Shroomie this winter did not happen -- but do have the boys set to build them this summer -- thinking I'll be painting the sides with shrooms that way she can hang out with me when I finally start this flipping vegie garden
  6. AMEN!!! We can albacore that hubby catches and give to fam and friends -- they know the drill and I still have to collect my jars and lids when I visit their homes -- I'm not shy anymore..I just march in the kitchen and find their tupperware stash...9 times outta 10 that is where my jars end up -- never too worried about lids but will reuse if I find...
  7. whaa! whaa! and a whoot! whoot! on the signing the loan docs toddling off to refill the whine--- oh I mean wine -- ya it was that type of day but i got a b%$@#in little chair raft when combined with my little rainbow unbrella makes an adorable image as a float in my salt water pool -- not...but I don't give a damn. dinner was steak with...
  8. This is my opinion -- has basis -- but too tired to share all the science right now.... GERD / acid reflux meds do not help and often hurt. You see...those of us with damage to our digestive system are actually making too little acid -- not too much...so when we take these meds we make even less which throws the chemistry off for the whole digestive...
  9. This is most certainly your decision, but (pardon my big butt).. There are several reasons to receive a diagnosis...these are my top two: 1) Should you question your need to be gluten-free for whatever reason in the future -- it is a lot easier (well it was for me) to never cheat once the dx was confirmed. 2) Kids -- mine were young adults and...
  10. was it the tTG-IgG or DGP-IgG? what was the reference range? I couldn't follow when you were eating or how much gluten. This test - were you consuming any amount of gluten regularly in the six weeks prior to it? Last test - were you consuming any amount of gluten regularly in the six weeks prior to it?
  11. Hip...hip...hooray! I'm doing a happy dance for you...sucks that finding a doctor that listens is the exception rather than the rule, but very happy for your family today!!!
  12. Really is great when our family starts to see improvement themselves from our healthier diets. Funny...even my kids are saying that they ate this or that at their friends homes or out and about and it just doesn't taste as good as it used to. Oh Welcome to the dinner chat - glad you stopped in - come back anytime -- we are always open
  13. Soooo son that is learning to cook reacted to his first batch of chili -- not sure what happened...we checked the canned beans we used for gluten...but the white beans were seasoned -- today was chili cookoff 2.0 -- we used kidney and white beans from dry -- this batch looks even better...happy that he wanted to try again so soon after the first batch. ...
  14. Right back at you Patti -- sorry for your additional loss this past few weeks
  15. My husband and I lost a lifelong friend on the same day as Neroli -- yep it was one very tough day for us. Yesterday we attended a huge memorial celebration for our friend followed by a paddle out at the beach we all grew up on. Was privately wishing I could have attended my other friend's memorial -- been able to meet her family and friends and let them...
  16. I would give the BRM gluten-free Oats a try -- perhaps late in the day the first time! Fruits and vegies aren't enough to live off long term -- Are you getting enough protein and good fats -- meat, fish eggs, legumes or nuts? I get the everything giving you a reaction deal...hang in there... you will find more foods you can eat.
  17. I agree with PricklyPear -- you need to carry more food. Almonds, Fruit, Pretzels, Protein Bars and other gluten-free Snacks -- when you pick up bread stock up on more snack sized items and don't leave the house without them...my backpack is small but always has at least 2-3 items - even when I am just running a short errand -- you never know when you'll...
  18. If you are on a good probiotic daily, I would not increase. More water has helped me many times. Do you take digestive enzymes? How long have you been gluten-free? The first months and sometimes year or years can bring all types of gastro symptoms -- mine improved at first then reared their ugly head again -- turns out I needed to remove...
  19. Here is an interesting little dealio -- mosquitoes have banqueted on me my entire life -- if I'm around no one else needs to worry because they all hit me. That is until this year...hope I am not jinxing it by typing, but I have yet to get one bite and my hubs got one!!!! Just really wondering at this point...but could it be that the bugs liked me better...
  20. How long have you been gluten-free? It can take months or years for the damage of celiac disease to repair itself -- my endos got worse at years one and two and finally there was minor improvement at year 3. Have you identified any other food issues since removing gluten? Some of us have to remove more than gluten before healing can happen -- once healed...
  21. Welcome aberlee! Positive is positive -- especially when combined with a resolution of symptoms with removal of gluten. The IgA test you mention -- was it the tTG-IgA and what were the ranges given? Unfortunately many doctors only run that one test -- here is the complete panel: Total Serum IgA tTG - both IgA and IgG EMA - IgA DGP - IgA and IgG...
  22. Welcome Shelly! Celiac Disease testing can be very frustrating. Has your doctor already run a complete celiac antibody panel? Make sure you don't remove gluten until you receive these results and decide with your doctors whether you will be having an endoscopy. Take a look around -- check out this thread that contains a wealth of information for...
  23. Oh Dear Miss-Marie...so sorry to hear this. I had one kinda bad experience at my first endo due to an allergic reaction to one of the meds....I was trying to itch my head and they thought I was trying to pull the camara tube out -- my celiac doc was able to complete and see what he needed to...but I think I may have hit him. Your day was much worse....
  24. Aaaahhhhhhh -- those are adorable -- thanks for sharing Bartie and Addie -- I needed a bit of a lift -- this did the trick
  25. Oh good...sometimes these threads are hard to follow when I don't read the whole thing
