  1. Didn't you tell us about it around Christmas time...oh ya...when we were all having a bacon party after the Redunkulous Bacon Jam spread like wildfire. Thank you
  2. sometimes I make hot lemon glaze to drizzle or we have used blueberry jam -- powder sugar shaker is always on the table when I serve them
  3. oh...they are fantastic...when I ended up with a nice peacock blue cast iron aebleskiver pan when my folks sent some things over for a yard sale...I couldn't let the pan go so I asked a friend of mine in Denmark for a recipe...lol he sent me this link as the one his Mom uses!!! Open Original Shared Link All I do is replace the flour -- I use Pamela...
  4. We make crepe type tortillas...gluten-free crepe batter in your tortilla maker might work well....someone else around here has made tortillas...I'll let you know if I remember who
  5. Yep those codes are often silly. I have "allergy" to "gluten meal" in my chart as that was the only way the doc could figure out to code my medical record to note I should have NO GLUTEN -- you seem ready for your appointment and think it bodes well that your new doctor did not dismiss your issues.
  6. More Than a Feeling - Boston
  7. Unexplained allergy-type reactions have prevented me cooking or eating several dinners this week -- very frustrating that the only thing that works for me is Benedryl and then it's off to snoozle-land for me. Good thing my men cook too so I've had dinner for breakfast/lunch the past couple of days. Tonight I am doing fairly well -- small reaction when...
  8. We did the candied bacon on Christmas Morning -- received hugs in return -- great deal
  9. Same as bacon candy....just plain old bacon in the oven -- 350 for 20 mins....son has been getting off work at 230am and baking bacon -- two mornings this past week I have woken to foil covered cookie sheets with only bacon fat remaining Going have to stock a few other easy snacks for him -- certainly don't want to impede the work thing
  10. Might be of comfort to know... The DGP - both IgA and IgG antibodies are the first to react to gluten...as in if you were off gluten for a while and then back on...these Gliadin Peptide antibodies are the most likely to be reflected in blood tests.
  11. I Walk The Line -- Johnny Cash
  12. Cats In the Cradle -- Cat Stevens
  13. Only The Good Die Young -- Billy Joel
  14. So Lonely -- Police
  15. Shelby is indeed a genius that simply chooses not to communicate with the spoken word
  16. On the pet food issue....during one of my brain fogginess eras my cat was drinking out of my water glass..she loves to play in any standing water...as in dip her paw that she also used to play with her then gluten filled food....I was so brain dead I didn't even notice her doing this....when I did I felt pretty darn stoopid...your pets can eat gluten...but...
  17. While it is costly....most endoscopies are painless. Ive had four and was very nervous for the first one. They will give you meds--- for me I get really sleepy and don't remember much of the procedure...make sure the hubs asks the doctor to explain what he saw ... often this conversation is more detailed than the procedural report and you will likely not...
  18. I missed this post grrrrrrrrrrrrr is right! Very glad you have your voice -- but very angry to read this story!
  19. Welcome GreenBeanie! Great post....although I am sorry to hear yet another has suffered for decades as doctors dismiss them simply because the were not trained to order the correct tests for their patients. Have you now had a complete celiac antibidy panel? Total Serum IgA EMA-IgA DGP- both IgA & IgG tTG- both IgA & IgG As you...
  20. Welcome! Yep...package flippers are us! Take a look at the "Newbie 101" thread -- it gives wonderful advise that will speed your transition to your gluten-free life. The transition is tough...I was brought to tears regularly during grocery store missions out of package flipping -- especially when I had to start carrying "cheaters" to read some of...
  21. Ok...there is a way to mess up the easy upside down cake..... use round cake pans that have a bottom that is removable -- doh! at least my kitchen smells like carmel this morning -- not going to be fun to clean out the oven -- will have to wait until later -- off to cram a bit more and play taxi driver. Happy Monday All
  22. Me too..I make these with almond butter....going to add choc chips ala Karen next time
  23. Gotta say...I love this thread...almost forgot to water my poor heirloom tomatoes as life got in the flippin' way! Thanks guys
  24. Thanks Irish! Will check out the crock pot recipes...son a bit in the dumps as the girlfriend hurt him a bit today. Sooo....I am using the last two fresh pineapples to make four rounds of pineapple upsidedown cake...figure cake for breakfast during finals week may help take the sting outta the girlie's drama
  25. I agree....you are a bit nervous and over-thinking this. If she likes you and also has some knowledge of gluten already from a family member...sounds like a great choice. My son's girlfriend carries digestive enzymes and charcoal in her purse for him -- since they have been dating he does eat a fry or two at these types of restaurants if he feels safe ...
