ARCHIVED Severe Fatigue/sleeping
mamaw replied to bbopper's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
There can also be other reasons for this to take place. Along with celiacs testing I would do a thyroid & a blood sugar . The later two can also have the fatigue & cold sweats... good luck mamaw -
I suggest taking the nordic natural omega 3 (pro efa by mouth). I also agree with Rosebud about olive oil on the fingers & wrapping them up at night.Jojoba oil is also very good to do the same with & also adding it to a bath or shower water. Those nasty cracks can cause a bigtime infection so that is where the tea tree oil or oregano oil comes into...

I would do alot of research before drinking slim fast or any weight loss drink. SLim Fast is very hard on your liver. I agree with Lorka --- there are many safe ways to lose weigh & I for one do not think slim fast is one of them...

ARCHIVED Has Anyone Stayed Outside The Parks At Wdw
mamaw replied to sullystaub's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
We stayed at Dsiney & used the dining pass which we think is the best way to go. We did book all of our eating ahead of time so we had to plan each day where we were going to be. But the disney booking site helped us to choose which day to be at what park. As some days are busy for one park & others maybe less busy. We bookes everything by ourselves... -
ARCHIVED Can I Use Any Old Breadman?
mamaw replied to sammers1's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Yes, if you haven't used the breadmaker with wheat flour --- you will be safe. I do not own the breadman ( I love my zo) but I know many who use a breadman. I would look for a one rise setting if it does not have a gluten-free setting. It might say quick bread setting also. Or of course you can alway let the machine do the work then remove the dough &... -

ARCHIVED I Think I'm Going To Eat Gluten On Purpose!
mamaw replied to LoriG's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It still could be your thyroid also. I would suggest a blood work-up & additional allergy testing. I would say don't start eating gluten again. You want to lessen your ills not make them worse! -
ARCHIVED Wow, My Husband Is Gluten Intolerant Too!
mamaw replied to Glutenfreefamily's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have several doctor friends who agree that humans are not equipped to digest wheat. wheat did not appear until the agricultural age. Before that period of time humans were mainly meat eaters. And for sure you did not cause the problem if anything you helped his body by not giving him wheat. Tell him to say "thank You" I would hope that he realizes that... -
ARCHIVED What Does Certified Gluten Free Really Mean?
mamaw replied to silk's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Have you been tested for dairy/casein yet? I believe the guideline is under 20ppm for gluten. And I have found I react to gluten-free products for example Bob's Red Mill when others love it..... just because the product states gluten-free does not mean you definately will not get a reaction from it. For me when a product states no gluten or gluten-free... -
I agree, no cure only diet.... I do understand that you could have both a heavy yeast load & celiacs..... but it is a long process to rid yeast in the body & keep it at bay. I believe that also requires are fairly strict diet as well. I personally think you are in a sinking ship by this way of thinking. sorry.... I truly wish for all of us to find...

The chicken pieces they bread at each restaurant is supposed to be free of anything. But the whole chicken breasts are flashed frozen before delivery to these places & have been flash frozen with something that contains gluten..... I think the mainstream thinking on this is when it states chicken breast it means plain chicken breast & it is but...

I'm not sure of your age but I know my thyroid ( as a doctor explained to me) was slowly dying off, then after about 10 months it kicked in & started to work again. Which my doc says can happen but not often! So I went off medication for a long while then got VERY Ill & the docs didn't tend to my thyroid for a long period of time. At this point...

ARCHIVED Only Oats
mamaw replied to dally099's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes, you are correct shipping is free on orders of $50.00 or more. I stated that wrong. I don't want to order that much because I already have 25# to use from another gluten-free company. I'm so glad the BetterBatter Flour is working out for you. I really like that because the guess work is already done. Plus there are very good recipes on Noami's blog.... -
ARCHIVED Chia Pets
mamaw replied to Guhlia's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Chai seeds are gluten-free.. if eating them there is a brand of white seeds called Lame Advertisement. To get the best reward from eating this super food is to grind them just like the flax seed. They have no taste. I'll try to post the articile on Lame Advertisement verses Chia when I locate it again. mamaw -
ARCHIVED Only Oats
mamaw replied to dally099's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
To date Only Oats is the only gluten-free company to carry the quick oats. I really want some of these but they are not in many US stores yet. Shipping is $10.00 . I'm still working on my 25 # I bought from another gluten-free co. or I would order Only Oats....... Good company -
Also most of the sport's bar/restaurants get the same frozen coated chicken so that also adds.,Applebees,Texas Roadhouse & numerous others to the no- no list. I found this out this past spring that most places orfer their chicken products from the same source. To boot I was told most places do not tell customers that the chicken containes gluten in...

Hi Lisa I have no advise to offer but my heart goes out to you. I had my gallbladder removed many moons ago. After that oddly enough the one thing that gave me the most trouble was green peppers!!!! After about a year I could eat them again.. I just wanted to say you are always in my prayers, you are a sweet person & my hope is that the doctors...
