  1. It's weird, I wouldn't do it either.. well, I AM doing it at the moment, on doctor's instructions. But after my first meal of WOOHOO chinese food (no PF chang's in Canada), I got over it real quick. Went grocery shopping and found absolutely no appeal in gluteny items. If anything, this challenge has made me realize a) I do indeed get sick and I don't...
  2. This is happening to me right now. I usually know right away when I've been glutened, because I bloat and feel sharp pains in my stomach about half an hour after eating the food, and the GI symptoms come a few hours later. But I just started a gluten challenge yesterday and have eaten large amounts, and while I still got the bloating and cramping nothing...
  3. I've just started a gluten challenge today after three years of being 100% gluten free. I have never, ever cheated. Long story short, I was with a very thorough doctor for another medical problem I have been dealing with, and after reviewing basically my entire medical history he thinks that the GI I saw, who does not have the best reputation apparently...
  4. They also have really good chicken wings!! I can't remember the flavour but I'm sure they're on that list.
  5. I had never thought about this, but have been eating a vegan diet for a few months now and have not had a "gluten" incident since... Now that could be because I don't eat out ever, and everything is made by me in my gluten-free kitchen...but I'm definitely not having anything grain-fed, and have cut out most processed foods. Feels great.
  6. If your making chocolate icing, chocolate almond milk instead of normal milk is yummmmmm.
  7. I have Celiac disease and eat a vegan diet. Feel free to message or email me any time, d.hoholuk@hotmail.com I also have a blog and post recipes daily, if you are interested.
  8. :) Thank you. On my way to your blog now.
  9. I use Vegenaise. It's made with grapeseed oil and I find it creamy and tangy like mayo but not the nasty artery-clogging consistency of egg mayo.
  10. I eat a vegan diet and am gluten and soy free. It is definitely possible, if you want any recipes message me. Chickpeas are probably the best invention ever. I've been gluten free for over two years now. It's nearly impossible to eat at restaurants while vegan (except for salad, always check the dressing) but vegeterian would be much easier, if you can...
  11. GlutenFrieda makes a good microwave burrito
  12. Udi's bread is the only non-vegan part of my diet, but it's way too delicious and I use it for too many things to give it up. I'm vegan for health reasons and am not heartbroken about eating the egg in it, but it would be better if I could find a vegan gluten-free bread. Any ideas? I might have to figure out how to make one..
  13. Kimchi like the noodle bowls? I highly doubt it..unless they are rice noodles.
  14. I wasn't aware that normal canned black beans packed in water are not gluten free?
  15. I'm fairly sure pure licorice would be, but all licorice treats I have found in the store have gluten in them...I miss licorice
  16. I've had success subbing rice flour in every recipe I have tried so far..I'm the type of cook who doesn't measure, but know if it's right by if it "feels" right haha. Any recipe that calls for flour I use half brown, half white, and add a tbsp of potato starch OR tsp of xanthan gum, depending on how "sticky" I think the product will be. For breads I use...
  17. Interesting. I haven't had D in weeks, and had it pretty bad a few hours after eating Van's waffles two days ago. I don't drink soy milk because it bothers me, but smaller amounts in baked products haven't really been a worry before. I still don't think it's the problem because it's in other things I have been eating lately with no reaction...anybody NOT...
  18. I'm 5 feet tall.
  19. I'm in BC Used to live in White Rock but moved to Kamloops.
  20. Thank you all so much for the support. Having a place where I can open up (helps being able to hide behind a computer screen) is priceless. I went to the doctor this week and I am back on Prozac, hopefully this will kick in soon. I'll look into seeing a counselor. Mama Melissa, it's been two years since I started the diet, and I don't miss gluten at all...
  21. Yeah, I'm trying to talk to one through the university, because I can't afford to go private. The counselors there kind of want to just see somebody 2-3 times and send them on their merry way. There was a group at the hospital I went to this summer, but we weren't actually allowed to talk..it was classroom setting, teaching us definitions of different disorders...
  22. It's gotten to the point where I hate food, and eating. I'm always scared of getting sick..my anxiety has gotten to the point where I rarely go out. Because in the past my stomach has always had problems (D, vomiting, etc) I refuse to put myself in a situation where there isn't a bathroom nearby. I always have to sit on an aisle and theatres or in class...
  23. Snickers are safe (personal favourite) and a ton others! M&M's (not the pretzel ones), Caramilk..there are too many to name. Read the ingredients and watch out for malt (in Mars bars) or the obvious wheat flour, etc. You could also try doing a search on here, there are lists of safe candy bars and halloween candy. Reeses' PB cups are gluten-free.
