  1. A bowl of popcorn, and a bowl of frozen blueberries. Might eat a can of corn if still hungry later...I call it the student diet!
  2. Thanks guys, those are good ideas. It looks like I will have access to an electrical outlet, so I might bring my little grill with me. Alison R, how do you make your beef jerky?
  3. The one my doctor put me on was turkey, potatoes, rice, canned peaches, and spinach.
  4. Hi all, So show season is rapidly approaching, and we are travelling all over BC (no shows in Kamloops, where we are..) and usually sleeping in the horse trailer. It is the goose-neck kind with a bed on top. My coach will be mostly eating at the show grounds, there are lots of cafeteria-style vendors around. I MIGHT be able to get away with a salad...
  5. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that oats were often contaminated with wheat during processing, and that even if they are not the protein structure is so similar to gluten that some celiacs can't tolerate it anyways.
  6. I love it as well And it's almost the same price as cow's milk in the stores here!
  7. Mmmmm Corbett's fish house!!! I had the most success in Portland compared to anywhere else I have tried to go and stay gluten-free. My only bad incident was at Outbacks, actually..
  8. A treat for me as well. Mostly a budget thing, but I find I get quite bloated after any replacements, except for Enjoylife (loooove their snickerdoodles). I do use Kinnikinnick mixes on occasion, and eat Bob's Red Mill hot cereal.
  9. Broke Celiac student, that would be me. I picked up a gluten-free food bank package from my school, after a long chat about my allergies, and it was mostly those Uncle Ben's flavoured rice packets (every one contained wheat) and campbells tomato soup, second ingredient=wheat flour. I didn't have the heart to go back and ask for a trade, I'm sure they tried...
  10. Question about Quinoa, do you cook it first? I would think not but... ?
  11. I don't think "low gluten" cuts it. If you have Celiac disease, you cannot have gluten. Period. Whether or not you react, you are doing damage. Sorry for the tough love..but learn to like Redbridge or Bards, or maybe acquire a new liking such as cider. Your body will thank you.
  12. I agree with Rowena, I'd be skeptical, but at least they have thought about it..At our restaurant when somebody orders gluten free, we use food from the containers under the table that haven't been opened yet, maybe subway could do something of the like? Either way, it is kind of exciting that they are taking the time to test..maybe one day it will be safe...
  13. I like that it mentions how they will deal with CC! Hopefully this works, it would be fantastic to be able to get an actual sandwich somewhere so popular..there are even Subways in some of our small towns here
  14. I love checking this and getting ideas! Yesterday: B-Apple sauce S-Glutino Oreo L-can of pineapple D- Chili Not a great day, but not too bad.. Today: B-sesame rice crackers with peanut butter, a cup of orange juice S- small bowl of left-over chili, small coffee L- BLT sandwich on Udi's D-Ribs and broccoli
  15. I used to get that with anxiety (I too have GAD) so usually in any situation I knew I was going to find hard to deal with I took two immodium. I also really have missed out on certain situations because I refuse to go if I know there isn't a bathroom close, because I know what happens every single time I experience anxiety symptoms. It has gotten tons better...
  16. Stir-fry! I probably eat stir-fries 4-5 days per week, and they're always different! Last night was broccoli, carrots, celery, onion, peanuts, chickpeas, quinoa and sweet chili sauce (the Thai kitchen brand). Tonight I'm going to experiment...chicken and pineapple with rice cooked in coconut milk (I've had this can forever and want to use it), veggies,...
  17. When you say you eat soy sauce, it's the gluten-free kind right? Regular soy sauce contains wheat
  18. Hey guys so over Christmas I'll be heading down to Bellingham, let's hear you Americans' favourite products! I was thinking on stocking up on: Chex A Betty Crocker mix or two Some type of protein bar? I used to get ThinkThin from Trader Joe's but couldn't find them last time I went down.. Any suggestions would be great. I'd also like to try...
  19. Not sure about any other Kegs, but the two times I tried it I was violently ill. The second time I told them that the first time I had been sick, so this time I just wanted a PLAIN steak, not even salt or pepper, and a plain baked potato. They said they cleaned the grill, but somehow I ended up really sick again. They had one of those menus that tell you...
  20. Hey :)

I was looking on the teen forum (I'm 18) and I saw one of your posts, and I figured we probably have something in common, considering that we both love to ride, lol.

  21. Always ask, this was not the case in the McD I worked at; the nuggets were fried in the same oil, right next to the french fries.
  22. Nando's fries are gluten-free as well.
  23. I eat tostitos without a problem, the white corn rounds
  24. I'm pretty sure for an accurate test gluten has to be eaten three times a day for a few weeks prior to testing.
  25. Wheat flour flying around can't be a good thing, in my opinion...It would be a good idea to have you supply her with a cookie for the next day, and even then make sure she is careful what she touches, it's likely the flour from the day before will still linger even if it's been tidied up.
