  1. what a cool app!!!! Those things are amazing! Sure wish glutens were my only issue! Glad you were able to enjoy a wonderful vacation!!
  2. I have had ALMOST the same situation in Subway shops. I've never gotten quite the anger factor you did, but so completely clueless and some of the same comments.....can't do that....wouldn't know what to charge.....we simply can't do that! ????? It's NOT rocket science! My hubby and 19 yr old son loves Subway and my hubby WILL NOT let me simply get a...
  3. you are like me.....have so many other issues besides just the glutens to worry about. You mention avoiding dairy. That's a no-no for me also. My first thought reading what you did eat was that often the veggies such as your onions and peppers are either sauteed in butter or a little butter is added to them before being plated for flavor and sauce effect...
  4. I have read that symptoms can take as long as 15 days to show up! The stuff is in us in one way or another that long!! I would seriously look into the possibility of one of your usual foods suddenly packaged at a new plant or a new recipe. I have had many items that I was confident with suddenly turn on me and after investigating, finding out they moved...
  5. hash browns, homemade hash, potato pancakes, latkes
  6. raw foods would move thru faster...lots of fiber. And because it moves faster and isn't processed in any way, the putrification process is virtually eliminated (no put intended!) That's my uneducated guess, lol!
  7. it is MY understanding that whisky---the scotch stuff made in Scotland is processed much finer and simply (single malt). Whiskey---the bourbon made in the US often adds other grains to enhance the flavors. I have never been bothered by the finer whisky's but the bourbon whiskey often does if I have much of it.
  8. I read that Blood Type Diet book and I am also O negative. According to the book O's are the ones that need to be the most limited to be "optimal". And much of what it said seemed to ring true about the foods that I have become intolerant of. I am the carnivore also. I always thought it was because I grew up in the midwest, lol. I have no idea about...
  9. lol, so good to see other people that just love Costco as much as I do! : ) I would agree with the poster that said they are regional though. What you find here isn't found there. And I've been a bit aggrevated to find that a few items I've become addicted to will suddenly disappear for a LONG, LONG time before it makes it back on the shelves. Olive Tepenade...
  10. I read an article a couple of week ago (sorry, I have no idea where to tell you to find it now) about stress being a big factor that can definitely trigger sudden food intolerances, Celiacs, etc. I thought back the 3 yrs I've been battling all my food intolerances and recalled it WAS just after moving away from somewhere I LOVED to somewhere I haven't found...
  11. Interesting theory. I didn't know there was ANYTHING that could be done other than deal with it while it's going on. I have EXTREME itching and sores in very private places along with diarrhea. It sometimes takes days after the contamination passes to get rid of the rashes and sores. Sure would be nice to find some sort of shortcut thru all that!!
  12. this was a great post to gain information for myself also. Not going....yet. But my husband's company is French and he's been there once and I'm really hoping to get to go with him sometime. The eating was a concern though. I'm jealous that your symptoms aren't serious enough to cause you real problems!! If I were that lucky, I'd throw caution to the...
  13. Very interesting! I have never had trouble with Wendy fries.
  14. A previous poster asked about what they will go thru with a colonoscopy. I need to have one of those done too by the end of the year. I've been dreading it for 2 yrs. Doc said I HAVE to do it this year. ugh. MY question is about the stuff you have to drink. Is the stuff gluten/allergen-free??? I was having anxieties wondering if I was going to have...
  15. I highly recommend Kirkman Labs. They carry not only gluten-free, but allergen-free, i.e., soy-free,egg-free, dairy-free, etc. I'm very sensitive to even c.c. and have had NO problems with their stuff. www.kirkmanlabs.com.
  16. I had to self-diagnose myself and I think I had what they call a "leaky gut" when I discovered my intolerances. You must heal your "gut" by putting back the good bacteria like you find in yogurts into your intestines. Since I am also dairy intolerant, I couldn't do the yogurt or even most of the supplements I found as they also had milk/casein in them....
  17. By the time I got mine under control, I had eliminated not only glutens, but dairy, eggs, nuts, rice and beans!! It's a trial and error thing. You simply need to give yourself several days of eliminating one more thing and see how your system feels. I don't react to things for at least 1 1/2 days and sometimes longer. I've read many times in this forum...
  18. I'm sorry I cannot find those posts, but I read something yesterday that made me think of you (poster) about your battle with constipation. Just thought I'd add this to the list of posssibilities. It said that DEHYDRATION can also cause constipation. Just thought you'd like to know.
  19. oooo, this sound YUMMY!!!Have you ever done these substituting the eggs with egg replacer? Just wondering as I would have to do that. But it's certainly worth trying!! Thanks for sharing!
  20. thank you for whomever figured out what Nightshade meant, lol! I cannot have chili powder AT ALL and we are a family that grew up on Mexican food. My poor boys put up with all my substitutions. They even seem to like my mexican meat that I make often. I use garlic, garlic salt, pepper (lightly), cumin (to me, the more the better but you CAN overdo...
  21. thanks! I go to prevention.com to play their brain games from time to time. Never thought to search for allergen-free recipes!
  22. are you being a part of any kind of solution or are you simply stirring the pot? At least offer up some very real solutions that everyday people can do. This world is way too politcal now. We don't need more.
  23. I know when I was taking a full load of supplements, fish oil seemed to help my brain fog quite a bit. Are you getting enough of the essential Omega 3's or whatever it is they always say we need? I've also heard that Vit. D helps with that some. If you pic is a current one, you seem much too young to be entering into any kind of peri-menopausal symptoms...
  24. I learned after getting all my food triggers out of my system that "going" every day certainly isn't a normal thing....that many people normally only go every few days. That was not the case for me before, but I've learned that THAT was caused by all the stuff in my system that wasn't good for me. I don't go every single day any longer. You, admittedly...
