  1. Before diagnosis my liver enzymes were all over the place, some were too high others were too low. My GP sent me to a liver specialist gastroenterologist- who of course checked for everything else first.
  2. Me too!- At one point I was told by my manager that I was scaring the new person. (I was also scaring myself.) I also wonder everytime I look at a show where thay are feeding inmates, soldiers or the homeless what effect of those two pieces af white bread that everyone gets has on them, physically and mentally. Do you think we'll ever see the day when...
  3. I remember (haha) when I first started to read through this message board that all of it relates to me- I am not crazy-I too have always had this problem. Forgetting the basics, losing your train of thought....
  4. I also work in the optical field and there is definate proof that lutein and lycopene can help prevent some eye diseases or make their symptoms more bearable. I'm thinking that since we have malabsorption issues we may have missed a lot of the nutrients that are eyes need to stay healthy. (Unfortunately for macular degeneration, after a certain point there...
  5. NO- USA
  6. I've gained some weight but I'm still in the normal range and my clothes still fit. It doesn't help that I think about food all the time. I have to plan every meal away from the house (which usually means bringing my own) and therefore have to shop in advance and have extra food laying around. My weaknesses are potato chips-have to buy the smallest bag...
  7. I remember reading the ingredients and they are not gluten free but I can't remember what the ingrediant was.
  8. I find it sad that none of my relatives- including my parents-WILL NOT get tested even though they all witnessed how sick I was and how healthy I am now. I'm sure aout half of them have it but, they keep their heads in the sand
  9. coworker had vertigo for a few months- nearly had to quit- she ended up having B-12 shots and is much better. Since celiac causes malabsorption adn B-12 is hard to absorb anyway they could certainly be related. I now use a liquid form of B-12. It's supposed to have a higher rate of absorption.
  10. I wouldn't mind checking out one of the meetings at St Peters. Do you know when the next one is? I was diagnosed by Dr Puleo (JR) but I wasn't thrilled with my follow up care with him.
  11. I'm in Albany! I don't belong to a support group though. I believe there is one around though that meets at St Peter's Hospital. The last time I tried to get more info, the email address I had was no longer active. I'll look again and post/message you with what I find. Open Original Shared Link Try this site- There is a chapter in Queensbury.
  12. I try to do the trick of shoppong the perimeter of the grocery store and try to avoid the aisles. That way your are looking at fresh fruits and vegetables, meats and the dairy aisle (where they have a lot of lactose free stuff.) It is not as depressing and usually costs less. I had first heard the suggestion to do this before going gluten free to save...
  13. Thank you for forwarding this information. I can only repeat what everyone else has said-- Why did they mess with a good thing?
  14. I can't decide. All of the suggestions so far sound wonderful. My coworkers had a crispini pizza thing from Panera today so I might have to go for that But then again fried chicken, regular toast, fettucine, doughnuts....With my luck by the time I decided the "magic" would have worn off!
  15. I'm glad things are looking up. I've been following your progress and I'm happy you found an employer who values you. Good luck!
  16. I have eaten there a few times and been very happy. I would definately recommend them!
  17. I had a similar thing with my hands before I was diagnosed. It was the last straw really. When I woke in the morning my hands would be swollen and cramped into a wierd postion. My husband would try to massage them back to shape but it didn't really help. I tried the chiropractor at that point which felt wonderful but didn't really help either. I was...
  18. That's the only way I'll eat cauliflower. It's really good
  19. I'll see what I can find out and let you know.
  20. Thank you! Really the only "problem" is convenience food. Oh well, we make most of our own food and it tastes better and is better for us!
  21. I do know someone with it but I'm not close enough to ask about it. What I have seen of it so far is not very good. I hope your friend doesn't get the more severe symptoms. Another woman I know was tested for it but they ruled it out. She is also a diabetic (type 1) and has a son with Aspergers.
  22. I wouldn't worry. I have two very healthy children that were born when I didn't know anything about celiac. People talk about a "trigger" for celiac and that sometimes childbirth or pregnancy is it. Knowing what I know now- I was always a celiac. Don't let the whatifs control your life.
  23. Someone at work brought in a bag of the Christmas bell shaped ones-wheat staarch is clearly listed. It's just as well, my hips really don't need them.
  24. I don't know about your Dr but, I didn't have any blood testing for celiac disease I only had the endoscopy done. (Well, they did a lot of other testing but, not for celiac) The biopsy was definatly positive so the blood levels don't matter as far as a diagnosis is concerned.

    ARCHIVED Applebee's

I did not have a great response to Applebee's. My coworkers and I were to have lunch together for a going away party and they were all ordering from there. I called ahead and asked to speak with the manager to ask if there was anything appropriate for me to eat there. She was totally clueless so I had my lunch from another place. I checked their website...
