ARCHIVED Any Adverse Effects To Not Eating Wheat?
Raven's Mum replied to coriforia's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Interesting. Raven was actually having a couple of episodes that seemed ''panic attack'' like to me. She's been gluten free for three months now. I never considered it might be a gulten withdrawl. She's on so many meds, that's usually the first place I look. lol -
ARCHIVED What Does Being Glutened Feel Like?
Raven's Mum replied to Jennifer2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Such a good topic! As a mum to a celiac child, especially one with CF as well, it's hard for me to know when she might have been glutened, when it's her CF talking, or if something comepletely different wrong with her. It'd be nice if I could tell the difference, so if she is being glutened, I can make the necessary changes. -
ARCHIVED Taste Of The Wild Dog Food
Raven's Mum replied to Roda's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I have some of my dogs on the Pacific Stream Formula. They do ok on it. -
ARCHIVED My Big Mistake
Raven's Mum replied to positivenrgfairy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ugghh.... I hear ya. I'm the same way. I don't like buggin' people to go out of the way for our sake and even when we do, I still worry about the cross contamination. We've just decided that on the rare occasion that we do go out, that we'll bring something for my daughter. I'm waiting for some restraunt to have an issue with us bring ''outside food''... -
ARCHIVED Swine Flu Vaccinations
Raven's Mum replied to momxyz's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We are a vaccine free household, although the kids have been told if at anytime, they feel strongly about getting them, they can. We homeschool though so we have much more of a ''controlled environment'' than most people. -
ARCHIVED Probiotics For Kids
Raven's Mum replied to chiroptera's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs

ARCHIVED High Forehead Poll

ARCHIVED Any Celiac(s) From Canada
Raven's Mum replied to Gerri's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
We are sushi addicts and are traumatized about not getting to go out for sushi. We use the Braggs brand gluten free soy sauce at home, but I'm worried about the wasabi and cross contamination in restraunts. One of the food services people at the Children's hospital was telling us we can get shushi ready fish in Vancouver so we might have to start makig out... -
ARCHIVED Any Celiac(s) From Canada
Raven's Mum replied to Gerri's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I used to live in Kingston! I'm living in Surrey, B.C. now although it's my daughter that has celiac, not myself as far as I know. -
ARCHIVED Playgroups And Toddlers
Raven's Mum replied to RobynJ's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I totally agree. We went out to our friends house for Halloween, and not only did my friend cook a full on gluten free meal so Raven could have some dinner, even taking in mind that she had to buy some butter that wasn't contaminated, she also dug through her kids candy bag to trade with Raven so she could have more gluten free stuff. Where some people leave... -
ARCHIVED Generic Otc Prilosec (omeprazole)
Raven's Mum replied to shibboleth's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Raven gets bloodwork every few months during her CF clinic visits. I'm assuming she should be ok unless they see something she's difficient in in her bloodwork??? -

ARCHIVED Anyone Unemployed Or Divorced Because Of Celiac?
Raven's Mum replied to mrmachinist's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Sigh.... I so feel for everyone and their struggles. It hits too close to home, no doubt. I don't have celiac myself. My six year old daughter Raven does, as well as Cystic Fibrosis. She's had a hell of a struggle, spent her first eight months in hospital, multiple surgeries, came home on a feeding tube, in and out of hospital multiple times a year and... -
ARCHIVED Generic Otc Prilosec (omeprazole)
Raven's Mum replied to shibboleth's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hmmmmm....... Raven's taking this. The pharmacy has checked all her meds to make sure they are gulten free up to this point. I guess I should be checking it, or getting them to check eat time I refill a precrpicption. -
ARCHIVED Still Chronic Constipation
Raven's Mum replied to BemLmom3's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Raven's had on going issues with constipation and bowel blockages. Of course she has CF as well so she's kinda doubley ''bunged up''. She was on the Mirilax for awhile, too. She LOVES prune juice so I always try to have some on hand. This is something I can't use with Raven because of her CF but I've had great luck with it with dogs and my son. It's Slippery... -
ARCHIVED Floating Poopies
Raven's Mum replied to sixtytwo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I second the fat thing. My daughter has Cystic Fibrosis and that's one of the poop things we gotta watch for! lol -
ARCHIVED Are Bulk Bins Okay?
Raven's Mum replied to Crayons574's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
When we talked to the celiac dietician, she said a big NO for bulk bins as you never know if someone was double dipping and contaminated them. lol Not sure where you are but we have found some health food stores here that carry organic nuts and the label says they use proper handling methods during processing so they don't contaminate them with wheat... -
ARCHIVED Good "sick" Foods For Sick Kids
Raven's Mum replied to nmlove's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
How about making some yogurt popsicles? That way he's getting more than just sugar water or juice. Of course, that is if he can handle the milk products if he's feeling off. -
ARCHIVED Just Ate A Real Sandwich! Udi Bread
Raven's Mum replied to Ahorsesoul's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was actually just in the store yesterday staring in the freezer at the Glutino bread wondering if it was worth spending my money on and whether Raven would actually eat it. I left the store without it! lol The only one she's liked so far is the Kinnikinnick was the raisin one. Although, she seems to not mind the others if I make grill cheese with it... -
ARCHIVED Do Girl Puppies Get Uti's?
Raven's Mum replied to TrillumHunter's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Female dogs of any age can defintiley get UTI's. I used to do dog rescue and I had a number of females needing to be treadted for UTI's. -
ARCHIVED Just Ate A Real Sandwich! Udi Bread
Raven's Mum replied to Ahorsesoul's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
OMG. We SO have to get some of this! Bread is the only thing we're really having issues with switching to this diet. My son and I would actually like to switch as well, just because we are both stressing about our crumbs from our bread becoming a cross contamination issue for Raven. I just can't choke down the Kinnikinnick. lol -
ARCHIVED Liver Enzyme Question
Raven's Mum replied to jasonD2's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Raven's had elevated liver enzymes her whole life as well as an enlarged liver and spleen. At first they thought it was the TPN she was on for so many months, then when it didn't get better after she came off the IV they said it was just a ''CF liver''. When I started learning about celiac and read about unexplained elevated liver enzymes being a symptom... -
ARCHIVED Iron Questions
Raven's Mum replied to Frances03's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Raven's only been on it a few days and so far so good. The thought of constipaton makes me really nervous with her as she's had multiple bowel blockages already due to her CF. We do have some polyethylene glycol 3350 on hand as she was on it for while so if she starts to feel bunged up, I'll have to give her some. She really likes prune juice to. Go figure... -
ARCHIVED Cat Litter & Cat Food
Raven's Mum replied to Tigercat17's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I couldn't live without the flushable litter. My sphynx cat has the WORST smelling poops. As soon as it's out of her, I'm in there scooping and flushing! lol -
ARCHIVED Celiac And Taking Prevacid
Raven's Mum replied to tfrankenberger's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Raven just started Losec, which is similar. She was on ranitadine for years but it wasn't cutting it. When they did the celiac biospy, that's when they noticed esophogus damage from reflux and decided to switch her.
