  1. What brand of microwave popcorn is safe?
  2. Good luck with the sweet potato. I had one yesterday and have to figure out if that is what I reacted to. The dreaded D was back today. I'll have to challenge sweet potatoes again but don't think I'm going to feel up to that any time soon.
  3. What can you eat? I'm having such a hard time figuring out what I can and cannot eat.
  4. If it may contain trace amounts of wheat, chances are it is going to be bad.
  5. I haven't eaten eggs in a very long time but did have two hard boiled ones this morning. I have delayed reactions so will find out tonight or tomorrow morning if they are a problem. I was tested for eggs a long time ago and found out I was intolerant to egg yolks. I believe most people react to egg whites. I hope I tolerate the eggs. I'm not super...
  6. I asked a local store if they would separate the gluten free foods and was told that they come on the same trucks as other foods so the risk of contamination is already there. I'm sure those that stack the shelves don't wash their hands before they do it. However, I think every step taken to cut down on cross contamination is positive so I'm all for it...
  7. Does anyone know if regular brown rice that is not enriched is gluten free? The above link only talks about enriched rice.
  8. I've too often wondered if rice should be certified gluten free. I'm interested in hearing if others react to rice that isn't certified but have no issues with rice that is certified gluten free. I still have gut issues but it seems to make no difference if I eat regular rice, certified gluten free rice or no rice. I've done all three for quite a length...
  9. I, too, have severe insomnia issues. I can only say that I am so exhausted it hurts. I get very anxious without sleep (who doesn't). My latest pattern is my body (mind) only allowing sleep every other night. I've tried the drugs and natural remedies and saw no improvement. Some of them made me a lot worse. I always thought the insomnia didn't...
  10. I stopped in with some specimens today and filled out a release of information. Since some of my specimens are being sent out, it will take 3-4 days for the results. I was told I should get a copy in about seven days. I'll allow seven business days and call if I haven't received them in that time. I'll need to fill out another release of information...
  11. I do know I won't be paying for any tests until I get the results.
  12. It sounds to me like you have your answer even without testing. All three of you are doing better without gluten. That's wonderful! If you rid your house of gluten, you won't be tempted to eat anything that contains it.
  13. I'm interested in knowing what other tests are being run. I was doing much better for several months and then was back to where I started. I figured it was cross contamination but now I will be tested for other things. I'm really disappointed though that my doctor doesn't want to see me for another two months to discuss what my tests show. I feel that...
  14. I just came home from the drugstore with my Movi-Prep so decided I better google it and make sure this it is gluten free. This is the what I was lead to. Did I ever laugh. I think it will give me the humor I need to get through the prep and procedure. I'm thankful I don't know the person doing it. I can really relate to this quote of his: "your bowels...
  15. Wouldn't it be wonderful if these doctors suffered from gluten intolerance or if one of their kids did. I'm sure they would be more understanding and knowledgeable if they had to live with it.
  16. I understand your frustration. I saw a different doctor yesterday. He doesn't think my problem is gluten and said I should just try eating everything. Of course my old doctors office didn't send much information to him. I figured they'd send my lab results. I did have blood drawn, will take in specimens and have a colonoscopy and endoscopy scheduled...
  17. Jenn, I started out with chicken, olive oil, sea salt and turnips. I started getting more sleep and feeling somewhat better. I know I added brown rice before too long because of hunger issues. The one food that I felt I reacted to early in the elimination diet was cucumber. That could have been from pesticides or preservatives on it. I didn't sleep...
  18. That is the puzzle. Is it something else or an I just super sensitive????? I have had food intolerance testing done in the past. By avoiding the foods that I tested intolerant to, I didn't show improvement. Now I want to rule out Crohn's and colitis. I question bacterial overgrowth, also. That showed up in the past and I'm guessing I never got rid of...
  19. How do those of you that live in shared houses stay healthy? Some of you say it is impossible but some of you seem to manage. I cook separate meals with separate cookware, cutting boards, etc. When I do dishes, cook or eat, I always wash my hands and dry them with paper towels. Yet I am staying sick. I don't use any condiments so am not getting cc...
  20. Teva and Roxane no longer manufacture Sertraline per call to both companies this morning. I talked for Greenstone. They use potato starch to make the sodium salt glycolate. She could not guarantee that the product wasn't gluten free but they consider it to be. It is not tested for gluten content. Teva does sound like a good company though. When...
  21. I was just prescribed Sertraline (generic Zoloft). I see this topic hasn't been addressed in a few years so I'm looking for an update. My pharmacist carries Sertraline manufactured by Greenstone. I asked him for the ingredients and was told it contains sodium salt glycolate. I googled that and found out that it is derived from wheat, corn, rice or potatoes...
  22. It does not say anything on the prescription information sheet that I got from the pharmacy that I should be on a restricted candida diet. My son took Nystatin several times when he was young and never went on a candida diet and he definitely got better. Has anyone had luck with this medication without following the candida diet? I have gotten so hungry...
  23. What were your symptoms? I started eating dairy, soy, and eggs again with no problem or so I thought. Two weeks ago my anxiety and insomnia came back. I am now getting about an hour of sleep a night. If my parathyoid hasn't turned hyper again, it will shortly because of the sleep and insomnia. I see my doctor next week so will have tests done again...
