  1. I agree with your doctor that you should avoid stress. In your case, your stress is both gluten and lactose and any other food or chemical you are intolerant to. My anxiety went through the roof and doctors were telling me it was all caused my stress when I had very little stress in my life. Then mental health professionals tried to blame it on my childhood...
  2. I agree that you should go to another room so your boyfriend can get some sleep. There is no need for both of you to lose sleep. I am married and still am sleeping in a separate bedroom than my spouse. That may change soon as my sleep is continuing to get better. I was not pleasant to be around when I wasn't sleeping but tried not to be too crabby with...
  3. It is $4.19 at the local Wal-Mart. Guess their prices must vary per location. Anyway, I was surprised to find it that as they do not carry the Betty Crocker Gluten free cookie, brownie and cake mixes.
  4. Contains: Rice flour, Sugar, Leavening (baking soda, sodium, aluminum phospate, monocalcium phospate), Modified Potato Starch, Salt, Xanthan Gum. Below the ingredients it states: MAY CONTAIN SOY INGREDIENTS.
  5. My stomach was flatter when I was consuming gluten. I lost close to 40 pounds and my stomach actually caved in. Right now it is filled out enough to look normal and I've gained back 5 lbs. Would love to stay at my current weight or gain just a few more lbs.

    ARCHIVED Ibs-D

Gluten intolerant here but never confirmed Celiac as not willing to go back to eating gluten. The D was what finally tipped off gluten intolerance after 11 years of fatigue, over four years of being so sick both physically and mentally that I wanted to die. It was less than I year that I had the horrible D but luckily I did or I would either be even sicker...
  7. Another angle here. Your cousin and his wife could be concerned that you might get cross contaminated from their children. Ask them why they behaved like they did when you were there. Send them tons of information on Celiac and let them know that you are not contagious and that you are careful to wash your hands before putting food in your mouth. If...
  8. Last year I was new to the gluten free diet and not aware of cross contamination. I took most of my own food. Unfortunately I ate tons of home canned green beans and my own fresh fruit salad. I was so sick. I'm sure the my own fruit salad had cc because I used an old cutting board. I'm guessing there was cc with the beans, too, back from when they were...
  9. There are impossible pumpking pie recipe using Bisquick and now gluten free Bisquick is available. The recipe is available online a bunch of different places. Of course, you don't get the same crust as a regular pie crust. My husband use to make this years ago with regular Bisquick and loved them. Not being a fan of pumpkin pie, I never tried any.
  10. It may be helpful to explain that wheat, rye, barley and oats and anything that comes into contact with them make you extremely sick. Even if you may be able to tolerate oats, it still may be helpful to include them. Too many people have no clue what gluten is.
  11. I have good quality stainless steel pans that I cleaned up good and use. I bought a stainless steel pan at a thrift store to use exclusively for wheat pasta for hubby. He now decided he likes rice pasta better. As far as nonstick goes, I have my own frying pan for gluten free foods. I have a colander, cutting boards, veggie peeler, can opener, etc...
  12. Can't wait to try it so I can get back to those impossible Bisquick pies. I haven't made one of those in about 25 years! Guess that ages me.
  13. You could have a fructose or candida issue going on, too. There is a lot of information in this forum about both. My symptoms are completely different than yours. When I went off gluten, my anxiety and depression went away. However, it seems that my insomnia, headaches, muscle pain and back pain were from candida and not from gluten.
  14. They do make gluten free graham crackers. I have a box but haven't tried them yet. They are called S'morable and are made by Kinnikinnick. The main ingredient is pea starch. They do contain soy. I have no idea what gives them the graham cracker flavor.
  15. I don't know until the following morning when the D hits.
  16. I good way to track your diet is using livestrong.com. Go to my plate and you can enter what you eat. There is a list of lots of brands, which is very helpful. It keeps track of calories, carbs, fats, etc. There is also a daily diary where you can enter how you feel, how you slept, notate what foods you suspect are bothering you, etc. I used this...
  17. So the special sauce is gluten free? I stopped at Mac's with a friend for coffee and saw a sign showing a Big Mac. Oh how I miss that special sauce. I just may try one without the bun myself. My DIL always orders burgers without buns because she tries to stick to the Atkins diet. I really feel she is gluten intolerant (has psoriasis) but I'm not preaching...
  18. My first meal that I didn't cook myself in over a year was Wendy's chili at Brainerd, MN. I told my husband I would risk it since it would be safe it there wasn't cc. As I was eating it, he asked me if it had beef in it. I tested severely intolerant to beef and my doctor wanted me to eliminate it for six months. It had been over five months since I gave...
  19. Gluten intolerance stripped changed me from a happy, funny person to a miserable anxious depressed person. Since going gluten free and treating candida, I am now a happy, funny person again. Just talked with a friend today as how our lives are so much richer because we have humor in them. I am so happy to have me back:)
  20. Wow! All these websites sound great. Didn't think I'd ever be able to save money grocery shopping now that I am gluten free. Thanks everyone for sharing.
  21. I'm going to request it at one of my local grocery stores. They carry the the Betty Crocker gluten free cookie and cake mixes so I'm sure they can get it. I haven't made "Impossible Pies" for at least 25 years but I'll be making them soon.
  22. Most doctors don't have a clue. I really like my doctor because he listens to me and will order any test I ask him to. He is the only doctor I've found who tries to get his patients healthy naturally and doesn't prescribe drugs to treat the symptoms. He will prescribe medication if nothing else works. Although I like my doctor, I am much more educated...
  23. Headaches and fatigue can be caused by candida. I did a candida cleanse and the headaches went away. My fatigue isn't as much of an issue anymore either. Supplementing with olive leaf extract seems to give me more energy.
  24. Congratulations! As long as you and hubby are happy about having another baby, that is all that matters. It is your life, not your mothers. My son and his wife have three children and plan on having more. My thought is that they should have stopped with two. I would never tell them that. It is their lives and they get to choose the size of their...
  25. Thanks! I didn't know it was made by Kraft. I've used it in the past but don't have any right now so wasn't able to check the contents. I'm so excited about making this cake! The recipe I have calls for a tube or bundt pan so I know my little pan is going to be too small. I bought a new muffin pan for 12 so I can make those and freeze them.
