  1. I was so excited to find a bread machine recipe for 100% whole wheat bread that tasted delicious and turned out perfect every time. Now the bread machine is contaminated:(
  2. I must say I'm really proud of myself for eating turnips, broccoli, cauliflower, chicken breast, olive oil, avacado, sea salt and almonds today while all the relatives, including hubby, literally pigged out on unhealthy foods. I know I felt good all day. What really makes me happy is that this is the first holiday I have been able to enjoy in 4 1/2 years...
  3. I got pretty sick one day after eating chia seeds. I'm not 100% certain if that is what caused it. It could be that my stomach wasn't healed enough for them. I have a large container of them but am going to wait a while before trying them again. I sure hope I can eat them.
  4. I play it safe and bring my own meal. I tried doing holiday meals and avoided all gluten foods but ended up getting cc. That seems to be a big issue for me. I'm even taking my own silverware. At this point, I am not going to chance going back to the hell I was living.
  5. Yes, cc is a big joke to lots of people. It takes personal experience just to know how serious it is. None of my symptoms got better until I eliminated cc. If others would educate themselves on this, maybe they'd be more understanding.
  6. I'm guessing the numbers are a lot higher than 1 in 133. It really upsets me that most doctors treat the symptoms and not the causes. I think there are so many people that would be so much healthier if they would just give up gluten. I never thought I could and here I am gluten free and surviving much better than gluten me.
  7. I want on an elimination diet and candida cleanse so have very little variety in my diet. Breakfast, lunch and dinner consist of the following: chicken, ground turkey, olive oil, avacado, turnips, cauliflower, broccoli, sea salt and almonds. I started out with just chicken, olive oil, sea salt and turnips. Every three or four days I add another food...
  8. I was very paranoid about cc when grocery shopping. One thing I do is go through the self check out lane so there is less food handling. I put most of my items in the plastic bags found in the produce and meat departments. I scan my groceries without setting them down and then put them directly in grocery bags. As I am healing and feeling better, I...

    ARCHIVED Garden

Our raspberries spread like crazy. They come up in the yard so we just mow them off. They really should be staked but we don't do that so it makes them challenging to pick them. They should have lots of sun. We live on a hillside with woods at the top of the hill and the neighbor's trees shading the raspberry patch earlier in the day so they don't get...
  10. I do normally keep my mouth shut when shampooing my hair but have already gotten water in my mouth so have probably gotten shampoo in my mouth at one time or another. Hey, I already scraped my nose with a razor while shaving my legs because my nose itched. With me, anything is possible.
  11. I saw a chiropractor last spring that was pretty sure she could cure anyone of almost anything. Although she couldn't guarantee that. I'm guessing it was her way to make money. The naturopath I saw really felt I could overcome my gluten intolerance through the right nutrients. I always showed her the test results from my doctor and she didn't feel...
  12. I loved Kix as a kid but over the years they made them sweeter. I just don't like sweetened cereal. However, if I knew they were definitely gluten free, I think I could grow to love them. That is, once my corn intolerance goes away. Please let us know if any of you are able to tolerate Kix.

    ARCHIVED Garden

My husband loves to garden so I have it easy. We live in Minnesota and he already planted onions and garlic yesterday. Our garden will also include bush beans, pole beans and seed beans, chinese cabbage, carrots, cucumbers, dill, kohlrabi, lettuce, muskmelon, watermelon, peas, radishes, zucchini, sweet potatoes, potatoes, tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower...
  14. I must say I have been very fortunate with family and friends accepting my gluten intolerance. Most are very interested in learning more about it. Although I have one friend who thinks I should be able to have a small amount of gluten because she is diabetic and can have a small amount of sugar. You just can't compare one to the other. Also, if she eats...
  15. I don't believe our small town (13,000 people) Walmart has a gluten free section. Maybe some day.....
  16. sandsurfgirl, I've been feeling your emotional pain. I have my good and bad day. Fortunately the good days are not outnumbering the bad. Reading the spoon theory gave me new insight on how we survive what we are going through. I ran across a quote today that I want to share as it sums up what we do for each other through this forum. "We're all connected...
  17. I mash up my cauliflower and turnips and stir in olive oil and sea salt. I find this very tasty and I get a lot more needed calories from the olive oil.
  18. Heather, I agree with Janie, you are putting way too much pressure on yourself. Right now what is important is your healing and not being super mom. That day will come back. I don't have kiddos in the house anymore but do feel bad that I don't have more energy for my grandkids. Back when my first grandchild was born 6 1/2 years ago, I went on...
  19. I also was tested for food and chemical intolerances. I eliminated everything that was offending, ate the acceptable foods on a four day rotation diet, and didn't feel any better. I am now on a candida diet and taking Candex. I started out with three foods, (chicken, olive oil and turnips) and then added avacado since I wasn't getting enough calories...
  20. My husband still eats gluten foods and I find crumbs all over. This hasn't been a problem, since I am super careful when I cook and eat. He has at times caught me from possible cross contamination, so is getting mores supportive as time goes on. I, too, have banned gluten flours being used. Haven't gotten gluten free ones yet due to other food intolerances...
  21. That sounds exactly like what I was doing. I figured I was obsessive complusive but didn't know how else to avoid gluten. I've relaxed some and haven't had cross contamination issues in two weeks. If I get glutened again, it's back to my obsesssive compulsive behavior. I'm very careful putting clean dishes away. I wash my hands with a paper towel...
  22. It really is annoying to know that they have so much education and not a clue. I hope you and your daughter heal quickly.
  23. I'll continue to pray for her family, Jackay
  24. I hope to get to that point some day.
  25. I cut out gluten from my diet and didn't get any better. Then I learned about cross contamination and became completely overwhelmed. Please know that it does get easier. Old habits are hard to break and new habits are hard to form, but the new habits do eventually become old habits. I had to break myself of putting my hands by my mouth, had to learn...
