  1. I had food intolerance tests done and it showed that I was severely intolerant to beef and moderately intolerant to venison. I gave up beef about four months ago and normally don't eat venison. My husband had venison polish sausage made which smelled so good. I finally broke down and ate one. Not only was I disappointed in how it tasted but I got a severe...
  2. I hand wash most dishes before putting them in my dishwasher. Big pots and pans sometimes don't go in the dishwasher. I have a separate scrubby for them and use paper towels for dishclothes and dishtowels. I got a new non-stick frying pan. I also got a pan at a thrift store for cooking wheat pasta for my husband. It is a different style than my set of...
  3. We, or should I say I, can't drink beer because I absolutely HATE THAT STUFF! Can't even stand the smell of it. I'm lucky with that since it was one thing I didn't have to give up:)
  4. Is it possible to decontaminate my bread machine, colander, measuring cups and spoons, bowls, etc. with rubbing alcohol? I read that alcohol is the only thing that breaks down gluten so was wondering about this. It would be nice to not have to replace everything. I really don't want the expense of a new bread machine. It would be nice to use a lot of...
  5. What wonderful news! This is inspiration for other parents to trying their kids on a gluten and dairy free diet for any type of behavior, learning or health problems. It may not be the answer for everyone, but there is nothing to lose by trying.
  6. They will have a wonderful time! Enjoy your time alone with hubby. Relax, relax, relax......
  7. I do not know if I am Celiac or gluten intolerant. I did not have tests done until after I had eliminated most gluten. I will never go back to eating gluten just to have accurate test results. Gluten makes me very ill. With that being said, I completely avoid it.
  8. Your doctor sounds very narrow minded. No one is too old to have celiac disease. You could have recently developed it or had it all your life and not had symptoms. You could also have gluten intolerance, which is not Celiac. Time to find a new doctor or educate the one you have. Good luck!
  9. Avacados are a must for me, along with lots of nuts and seeds. Olive oil, coconut oil and butter also add lots of calories. If you can tolerate dairy, yogurt, kefir and sour cream can add more calories. I haven't gained any weight in over a year but I'm not losing any more.
  10. I'm a bit anal about getting cc so my dishes are pretty well clean before they go in the dishwasher. I have a separate scrubber for hand washing pots and pans. I also use paper towels and not a dish cloth. I don't allow other family members to do dishes or pack the dishwasher because I don't know how careful they will be. Every once in a while I find...
  11. I occasionally cook wheat pasta for my husband. I got a separate pan to cook it in and use an old colander that is now just for wheat pasta. I'm very careful about not getting cc from it and so far have had no issues. He is a big eater and wheat pasta is cheap. Being on a limited budget, I'll continue to do this unless I develop issues.
  12. I am in the process of joining a new church. I was told they have individual wine and juice the first Sunday of each month. They didn't this past Sunday. I got a call from the church secretary yesterday about becoming a member. I asked about the individual cups and she said they don't do that during the summer months. However, she said they would...
  13. I went on an elimination diet combined with a candida cleanse. I started out with just cooked turnips, chicken, olive oil and sea salt. I slowly added more foods. I am now up to over fifty foods. The only one I know for sure I reacted to was cucumber. Lime may be another one but I haven't challenged it again. I'm not sure I conquered the candida but...
  14. yogurt, almonds or walnuts and avacado make up my breakfast daily.
  15. I absolutely love those avacadoes and eat them daily. Hope I never develop an intolerance for them. It would be a sad day.
  16. My husband would rather take drugs than make any dietary change. He just told me about a friend that has IBS and and autoimmune disorder that is affecting his eyes. I said he should probably give up drinking and my husband's response was that then he might as well die as he'd have nothing to live for. The man is happily married and has kids. He loves...
  17. Possibly you have other food intolerances and or candida. After giving up gluten and being careful about cross contamination, the only improvement I had was that my anxiety went away. After three months, I went on elimination diet and started taking Candex to rid me of the candida. I started out just eating chicken, turnips, olive oil and sea salt...
  18. It is our medical system that is stupid!!! It would be so helpful if our country came to realize that gluten intolerance is a BIGissue and a cause of over 300 symptoms (last I heard it was 350). How is the average person suppose to figure this out when our ?educatored? doctors don't believe in it? I believe I have suffered from this for over 16 years...
  19. Both my doctor (osteopathy) and a naturopath that I use to see said that magnesium glycinate is so much more absorbable and that I don't need to take as much as if I were taking magnesium citrate. I'll add another magnesium glycinate per day and see if that helps.
  20. For the past two weeks, I get cramps in my legs soon after I wake up. Usually, the cramps are in the calves but sometimes I get them in the thighs. They aren't severe like Charlie Horses but are still plenty painful. I asked my fitness instructor for advise and she suggested I may be low on potassium. I did some research and found that the RDA is 4...
  21. I have a strong sense of smell and very acute hearing. It does seem that since I went gluten free that smells don't bother me as much. I don't react to fragrances as much as I use to.
  22. I was seeing a naturopath who had me taking so much flax seed oil and I kept getting sicker and sicker. I found out I was intolerant to it. Hopefully after eliminating it for a length of time, I'll be able to tolerate small amounts again.
  23. I definitely agree that is the cause of many health problems. I have a mouth full of them and don't have the money to replace them. My dentist says that they don't cause health problems but my guess is that he doesn't have any himself.
