  1. I want to make a gluten free chocolate zucchini cake for my granddaughter's birthday. This will be the first birthday treat that I will be able to eat in a very long time. My recipe calls for baking powder and baking soda. I know Arm & Hammer baking soda is gluten free. What about baking powder? Do I have to buy an expensive one that states it is...
  2. Amen to that.
  3. I'm doing fine with Silk PureAlmond milk.
  4. It looks like the Betty Crocker gluten free mixes aren't moving in the stores that I shop at. I'm hoping they won't discontinue them here. I know there are other gluten intolerant people in this town.
  5. Today is my 57th birthday. It is the first birthday I am able to enjoy in five years. The past previous years I prayed for healing and if that wasn't possible death. If any of you remember, when I first joined this forum back in November of last year, I was pretty negative. First of all, I was completely miserable physically and mentally. Secondly...
  6. Could you possibly gotten cc from your vehicle such as the steering wheel or door handles? I know my car isn't safe.
  7. Just a suggestion: If you have decided to get tested once you move, do some research now on doctors in that area and make your appointment right away. If you wait until you move, it will be just that much longer until you can get tested. You could be consuming gluten for quite some time.
  8. This is so good to hear. I've been adding a lot more foods to my diet and am now including some processed foods. I have taken the risk with natural flavoring and hoping for the best. So far no problems. I can relax a bit now knowing they are almost always safe.

    ARCHIVED Garden

Our garden is growing deer! Lettuce looked wonderful and the next day it was all chewed down. The beets were completely gone. Now the squash and cucumber vines, along with the bean leaves are being eaten. We have a few fences that we can bend over some of the plants. Looks like we will have to invest in more of those. May also have to get some netting...
  10. I risked eating out for the first time in over a year. We were on vacation and I saw a place that offered gluten free pizza. It was at Rafferty's in the small resort town of Nisswa, MN. My husband and I were both concerned that I'd get cc but I took the plunge and ordered a pizza. This was the first gluten free pizza I ate and it was WONDERFUl!!! ...
  11. Sue, Were you able to get rid of the c-diff infection? What was used for that? Jackay
  12. I was diagnosed by blood work and don't know how accurate that is. About six months before that test, it was not detected in a stool sample. However, I was on antibiotics between those tests. I have been doing the saliva test by spitting the first morning saliva in a glass of distilled water. If there is stringy and cloudy saliva, candida is present...
  13. I found I do just fine when I don't consume sugar. However, when I do, I absolutely crave more. For the past two weeks I was eating gluten free sweets like crazy. I just couldn't make myself stop once I started. I'd get brownies and cookies out of the freezer and eat them frozen. Those were the first two gluten free treats I baked. I finally got them...
  14. Are you doing a gluten challenge or what?
  15. Great to hear that you were able to rid your candida with Nystatin and not incorporating a candida cleanse diet. I may see if my doctor will try that route with me. I have been trying for about four months to rid myself of candida and was feeling better for a while but felt I never really got it down to where I had it controlled the way it should be. ...
  16. Did you eliminate fruits, sweets and dairy while taking Nystatin?
  17. I have heard of some schools that no longer allow birthday treats due to food intolerances. Not a bad idea considering gluten, dairy, soy, nuts and eggs are all common allergens.
  18. I tested severely intolerant to beef through blood work. I haven't had beef for about five months. My doctor wants me to wait six months before trying it again so will give it a go in a month. I cut down to eating just turnips, chicken, olive oil and sea salt. I then slowly added foods one at a time every few days. Once I got up to about fifty foods...
  19. I react to home butchered meat because of cc issues. The stomach contacts can get on the meat itself or the knives, cutting boards, etc. are possibly gluten contaminated. I've gotten sick from home butchered chicken and haven't from store bought chicken. Someone commented a while back that she found a piece of wheat in a container of chicken livers that...
  20. If you like them and can tolerate them, try: olive oil, coconut oil, avacados and all types of nuts and seeds Be sure to check the packaging to make sure they are processed in a wheat free place.
  21. I second that one. After not having any alcohol for quite a few years, I went and bought myself a bottle of Bicardi rum since I read that is gluten free. Added it to my rhubarb/strawberry slushes and boy is that a treat:)
  22. I forgot to mention in my post about venison, that I can't eat the organic chicken grown and butchered at my brother and sister-in-laws. I don't know if it is the feed that contaminates the birds as they are butchering them or if it is that all the utensils, cutting boards, bowls, etc. are gluten contaminated or if there are just so many wheat particles...
