ARCHIVED Lipton Onion Soup Mix
jackay replied to dhiltonlittle's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Isn't there a good chance of cc if their other soups all contain gluten? -
Please provide the brand of liquid melatonin. That sounds like a good product for me. Thanks!

ARCHIVED Do You Feel More Mentally Healthy After Going gluten-free?
jackay replied to TotalKnowledge's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I suffered from such severe anxiety, depression and insomnia for the past four years along with lots of physical health issues. When I went gluten free, the anxiety went away immediately. The depression, which wasn't as bad as the anxiety, took longer to go away. The insomnia didn't improve much. I was really surprised that the anxiety went away and that... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Diet For Non Celiacs
jackay replied to pumpkin81's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This is such a healthy diet that it would be VERY GOOD for your boyfriend to follow. No one needs wheat, barley or rye or any derivatives of those grains to be healthier. It would make it so much easier for you if he did go gluten free. -
ARCHIVED Vitamin D Best Taken With Largest Meal Of Day, Study Finds
jackay replied to irish daveyboy's topic in Publications & Publicity
I also take Vitamin D to help my calcium absorption. I was told to always take calcium with a meal. Since I have parathyroid issues, I still supplement with a huge dose of calcium so need to take it three times a day. I'll switch to taking the extra 2000-3000 IUs Vitamin D at my largest meal, which varies daily. I'm not scheduled to have my calcium and... -
ARCHIVED Vitamin D Best Taken With Largest Meal Of Day, Study Finds
jackay replied to irish daveyboy's topic in Publications & Publicity
I spread my calcium (contains Vitamin D) supplement out and take them with my three meals a day. I supplement with extra Vitamin D at two or three of my meals. So according to this article, it would be beneficial to take the extra Vitamin D with my largest meal. I figured I'd be absorbing more if I spread it out. I'll make the change tomorrow. I know... -
Just wanted to wish you all a great day. Take time to pamper yourself whether you are a mother or not. Guys, pamper yourself, too, as you started out with a mother.

ARCHIVED Does Anyone Else Get Sick Of Foods Easily?
jackay replied to KevinG's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't get sick of the same foods. Since going gluten free didn't take care of all my health issues, I went on an elimination diet and started out with only three foods and built up from there. I am up to about thirty foods now. I pretty much eat the same thing most days. The thought of the same food does bug me but once I get to eating, every bite... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Intolerance And College Meal Plan -- Your Two Cents And Experience Needed
jackay replied to Mtb's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Isn't there a good chance that you are celiac if your mother is? Most likely you didn't rely heavily on gluten foods if your mom is celiac. You could have just tested negative because of not ingesting huge amounts. Whethere one is celiac or gluten intolerant, the symptoms can be the same. No one should be locked into a food plan if they cannot eat the... -
ARCHIVED Should I Give Up My Job?
jackay replied to Streetlegal's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Instead of quitting your job, would it be possible to take a leave of absence? That would give you time to see a counselor, nutritionist, try new recipes, shop gluten free, etc? -
ARCHIVED Non-Bovine Gelatin?
jackay replied to fakename's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I tested intolerant to beef and haven't challenged it yet. Do you know if gelatin would be a problem with a beef intolerance? I've tried to stay away from nutritional supplements that have gelatin, but it is difficult to find certain supplements that don't contain it. -
ARCHIVED Exhaustion Is Back
jackay replied to NE Mom's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I had micronutrient analysis done, which found I was low on Vitamin B12. Besides the B Complex Vitamins, Serine, Glutamine, Asparagine, Choline, Inositol, Carnitine, Oleic Acid, Vitamin A, C, D, E, K2, Calcium, Zinc, Copper, Magnesium, Glutathione, Cysteine, Coenzyme Q-10, Selenium, Alpha Lipoic Acid were checked. It didn't check iron but I know that is... -
I suggest getting new "plastic sort" of cutting boards and designate them for gluten free foods.
-
A year is a pretty long time. It may be a good idea to have them checked again.

I looked very run down and pale. Once I started taking Vitamin B12, I got some color in my face. Sure makes me look a lot healthier.

ARCHIVED Completely Paranoid About Gluten Now
jackay replied to srfjeld's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It is very normal to be paranoid at first and question everything you eat, every spoon you use, etc. I never thought the paranoia would go away but it does. It does get better. I'm also doing a candida cleanse and limiting what foods I can eat. After about seven weeks, I have added back a limited amount of rice and fruit. Every thing I do eat tastes... -

ARCHIVED Staying With Friends For A Week, But
jackay replied to book-worm's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Bea, I've been taking Candex for about six weeks now for candida. I have also added oregano oil. I plan on trying the antifungals one at a time since I've read that our systems can adapt to them. I plan on starting caprylic acid after three weeks of oregano oil. After that, I'll probably go back to garlic. If I don't feel I still don't have it under... -
ARCHIVED Staying With Friends For A Week, But
jackay replied to book-worm's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
We are headed to Seward. Their new grocery store is much improved over the old one and does have more variety. Last year when I was there I was shopping gluten free but not aware of cc issues. I was also very sick so have no memory of gluten free items available. We are always very cautious of the driving because of DD's warnings. This time we... -
ARCHIVED Staying With Friends For A Week, But
jackay replied to book-worm's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My daughter lives in a small town in Alaska so there is limited availability in shopping and food is very expensive. I'll take plenty of nuts with as don't know if the ones I can buy there are packaged in a gluten free facility. There are no farmer's markets and fresh fruit and veggies at the grocery store aren't the best. My DD says the only fruits they... -
ARCHIVED Staying With Friends For A Week, But
jackay replied to book-worm's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I also neeed suggestions as I'll be flying to spend 10 days with my daughter in August. She does have a dishwasher but I don't know if her pots and pans are safe. I will be doing my own cooking so hope she doesn't mind. Right now I'm on a very limited diet so hope I can eat more by then. I'll be taking gluten free grains with me plus lots of nuts. -

ARCHIVED Probiotics - Share Your Experience!
jackay replied to GFLindsey's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am taking Align right now but they don't seem to be helping. I took iFlora for a couple years and had great luck with them for a while, but they were no longer helping. My doctor said to not stick with the same probiotic as the body gets used to them. I'm going to keep switching whenver I finish a bottle until I find one that works for me. I may give... -
ARCHIVED No Other Way To Put It But That I Stink!
jackay replied to jackay's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I took the quiz and came out at 50%, so low stomach acid could be possibility. As far as the baking soda test with water, I used a lot of baking soda. Didn't know how much to use. Guess I can give the hydrochloric acid a try and see if it helps. I normally eat some meat with my breakfast. This morning I just had half an avacado and some almonds to...
