  1. We eat it quite often. They do have different ingredients. I usually get the all rice ones which are darker than the corn and rice ones. But we also use the corn based ones sometimes
  2. Talc is a ground up rock. Not sure how there would be any gluten in it.

    ARCHIVED Potatoes?

I agree with Lisa. It's just 2 weeks. You haven't healed, even if you have been completely gluten-free. You haven't had anytime to get the fiber, fat, etc, of the new diet regulated. And..... I know it's not a popular idea but..... Not everything is related to gluten. Maybe you have body aches for another reason? Maybe you have more problems than gluten...
  4. Open Original Shared Link ...Research shows the prevalence for 1st-degree relatives to be between 4-16%. Our own experience when testing for celiac disease in 1st-degree relatives is a prevalence around 5% (or 1:20)....
  5. I don't think that last part is quite right. You don't add 5ppm + 5 ppm and it equal 10 ppm. It's 5 ppm in a million then another 5 ppm and its 999,995 non gluten ppm. So now you have 5 ppm in 2 million - each million contains 5. Maybe you could say you now have 10 parts per 2 million? But that is still, when reduced down, 5 part per 1 million. I...
  6. There are gluten-free dehydrated backpacking meals & jerky. There are crackers, seeds, dried fruits, protein powders and bars. Just google them. What do non gluten-free people eat in these circumstances? Maybe you could eat some of that? You can't be the only person out there in the dessert pushing boulders around?
  7. 1 day of gluten should not be enough. You have to make enough antibodies to get into the blood stream and then meet the number needed for a positive. That's why you were told 6 weeks tho theCeliac act in Chicago recommends 3 months
  8. Just an FYI - the original posts are 9 years old. Products change
  9. Lipton doesn't glue the bags. They are heat sealed. Wheat doesn't work to glue things that get hot- it "melts". The wheat glue in tea bags is one of those myths that keep appearing. I have never seen a tea company that has said they use wheat in a tea bag. I use Lipton tea bags all the time
  10. You need to ask. They might marinate the meat or add soy sauce to the dish. The only way to know is to ask. Everyone makes things differently
  11. I haven't seen it lately in Kansas City. Does it still list it as a product on the website?
  12. Seems odd. Maybe some more info? Are you talking about the kind with mayo or the vinegary kind? Is it gluten-free? How long since you were diagnosed with Celiac and been on the gluten-free diet?
  13. Well... anyway - even on the small chance that a medication has gluten in it & the gluten is able to rub off onto your hands - touching gluten isn't a big deal. It cannot be absorbed through the skin, I would worry about touching any that might be. I have seen a few meds that warn about touching them.
  14. You are actually touching stuff that goes in our mouths with your bare hands? No food service, food prosessor, etc would be allowed to do that! We really need some laws and goverment oversight on that! I have seen them count out pills, but they never touch them with thier hands. They have plastic funnel type thingies and push the pills with sticks. ...
  15. Oh! Yeah.... good point! And I work in a bakery! You would think I would have thought of that! That is just gross and unsanitary.
  16. I suppose it's possible. But you wash your hands before you eat. There isn't really a lot of flour dust in the air. And very very few meds actually contain gluten and the few that might , have a very very small amount to get out of the pill somehow, and into your mouth.
  17. Look up side effects of hydrocodone. Constipation is a common one for everyone, even non- Celiacs. That can lead to trapped gas. When you say he has been gluten-free for a " few years" and is " getting used to the diet" - what do you mean? Are you saying he has not been gluten-free? Or inconsistently gluten-free? Because if that is the case, he may...
  18. You might try the Findmeglutenfree app or site. I know there are some entirely gluten-free places, but I don't know where. One I have heard friends rave about is Senza gluten. I don't have a clue if that is close to where you will be or not. Looks like they are in Greenwich Village Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link...
  19. I don't see why it couldn't go down that fast? That's sounds great. I have seen things that say that kids levels will go down much faster than people diagnosed much later in life. Edited because my sentence structure was horrible!
  20. I think the ingredients are fine, last I looked. I get stomach issues similar to a glutening from some artificial sugars. It's only been 2 months and you say you have been getting glutened, so you probably haven't healed much. When your system is still " sick" lots of things can set it off.
  21. Last night we had crockpot lasagna . Delicious and it doesn't heat up the house!
  22. Last night we had a chili line grilled chicken, corn on the cob and salad. For dessert we tried a Limoncello syllabub. It was basically lemon flavored whip cream! Quite tasty, but I see more potential for it as a topping for blueberries or a pound cake.
  23. I think people will want those recipes! or an invitation to dinner
  24. So I didn't miss it in the post ! You have a good memory.
