  1. I am wondering if you might have some extra issues? I was not young when I was diagnosed and probably had active Celiac at least 15 years. It did take several years, but I find that I can do more and more things by building up to them. Perhaps Celiac isn't really the problem any longer?
  2. Could the heartburn be because she didn't eat for a while? Or the valve that prevents the acid from coming up was irritated? Both reasons should resolve in a few days or less.
  3. Maybe try a part time job? Like a receptionist in an eye doctor's office? That's my example because it seems my eye doc always has new people who just work a few hours a week. Sometimes you have to extend yourself to build up the strength and energy to work or walk longer distances or lift greater weights, etc. When you say "food production" are you...
  4. I was like that, too. Keep taking your iron and B12 (helps the iron work for you). Don't take the iron with calcium foods, take on an empty stomach if possible, etc - all the stuff it says on the script. Every week you will absorb more and more. It takes about a month to make completely new set of red blood cells. In a month, I felt a lot better! ...
  5. That's great! It was meant to be!
  6. You might find this helpful. The Fasano diet https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/blog/1038/entry-1780-the-gluten-contamination-elimination-diet-summary-of-dr-fasanos-recent-paper/ Also, from things I have read, a slightly positive tTg may mean nothing. It could be possible her symptoms are from something else? Another food or illnesses? Sorry. That...
  7. Open Original Shared Link does she have another immune disease?
  8. Well. If you are certain she is not getting any gluten, then I would suggest you look up " the Fasano Diet". It's for people who can't get thier TTg down - before it becomes labelled as refractory Celiac. I just like to try the simple things first, that's why I suggested she might be getting glutened somewhere. I would hate for you to jump to refractory...
  9. When she is out of your control, you don't really know what is going on. People change at day care. Grandparents give a kid something they are sure is gluten-free but isn't. Kids accept treats from other kids. Let me give you a few examples I have seen over the years - - The person who started eating the generic Rice Chex assuming that all Rice...
  10. I think you should consider the most likely explanation - she is getting gluten at day care. Or someone else who watches her for you? Maybe keep her home for a couple of months and test again?
  11. If you are IGA deficient - then the IGA version might be falsely negative. That might be why they run bother versions. Some more info: http://www.cureceliacdisease.org/?s=iga+def&submit=Search
  12. I am sorry for your suffering. Have you considered that maybe he is right? Maybe it is something else? I would hate for you to miss the problem if it is something else.
  13. Elevated liver enzymes are part of Celiac. Open Original Shared Link
  14. They often use salt water. That is allowed by law. You can tell by reading the sodium content. All chicken has sodium but you can see the difference between brands
  15. Fresh meat should be gluten free. Many places won't call things gluten-free unless they test them. That doesn't mean the meat is not gluten-free. Edit - If I am remembering correctly - doesn't the US gluten-free food labeling law say something about not sticking gluten-free on foods that are normally gluten-free - like fresh fruit or fresh meat?
  16. If a big company like General Mills says the oats are gluten free, they have used or tested them to be gluten-free. I believe they said that they do their own testing and didn't see a need to pay for one of the "official" certifications. Also the " official certifications" don't actually test the products, they just give guidelines that companies say they...
  17. Chex has made statements about the oats being gluten-free if they say gluten-free on the package. It's a big company that already makes many gluten-free products. There is a labeling law that basically says that you can't add extra words to ingredients - so you can't list applesauce ingredients like - "fresh wholesome apples". Some companies argue...
  18. The Chex gluten free oatmeal products are made with gluten free oats. did you see something to say they aren't? There was some question about why they don't say " gluten-free oats" in the ingredients and they said something about thier interpretation of labeling laws not letting them say " gluten-free" in front of the word " oats". Edited because - wow...
  19. I am it sure a out Omission, specifically but, some of these gluten removed beers were claiming gluten-free. Then the federal goverment told them they couldn't and they all seemed to have stopped saying exactly " gluten free". I still see individual liquor stores that will label the shelf " gluten free", but that isn't the brewery doing it. I think the...
  20. First, I think that discussing other causes of this pain is part of the topic/ discussion. I think my point that I have eaten them with no problem is at least as valid as your assertion that they contain gluten. Yes, you did say they contain gluten when you said they were cc'd with gluten. If you don't try the suspected food again, you can't really be...
  21. It is frustrating how doctors skip things - like your folic acid levels. Glad you are doing better. When traveling or going out with others, sometimes I find its just easier and less stressful to bring my own! I try to bring a treat, too. Makes me feel less sad/ left out/hungry. Lol
  22. I get ground pork. Its usually much cheaper than chicken and beef and pretty lean. My favorite thing to do with it is make stir fry. I will mix Chinese five Spice into the ground pork. Then I cook it like you would ground beef, but I don't break it up into teeny tiny bits. I bet you could do the same for use with pasta - but use Ital seasoning. Let...
  23. Actually, if it was a gall bladder attack or some other reason - you could certainly eat the next day without the pain. I think they were trying to be helpful and alert you to a possible health issue. For me, unless you have actually tested this product and found it contains gluten, I am going to assume it was something else. If I avoided every food...
  24. Wait... this just sank in, something odd is going on - How does an MRI tell you you have an issue with gluten? What did they scan? I think you should go back and ask some more questions. LIke - what were they really looking for? why did they stop looking? Why won't they do a simple Celiac blood test?
  25. That's too bad. If they are so certain its a gluten issue, you would think they would do an actual medical Celiac test. Ugh! Knowing if you have Celiac might help you answer your questions about diet and cc. However, you do need to be consuming gluten for the tests to be accurate.
