  1. But not until the kids are tested for Celiac!
  2. Heres a good place to start https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/#entry913144 In the beginning, I tried to make 2 pastas at once - it's extremely hard and caused too much anxiety. It's hard to not stir one batch with the other spoon, switch the colanders and keep them straight, etc. It worked best when I had someone tend the gluten...

  4. Those are gf? The ones I have seen in the USA aren't.
  5. Some people are taking a small study and misinterpreting the results to say sour dough bread is safe for Celiacs. The study found people had intestinal damage from it, so it is not safe! Gluten Free Watchdog tested this companies bread and it does test over 20 ppm. Open Original Shared Link
  6. "For two weeks I have had coffee and gluten free cream. Tortilla chips, rice cakes, peanut butter, grits, cheese, rice crackers, bananas, apples, ground meat, beans, rice, avocados.....that's it." There's part of your answer!
  7. There is a huge learning curve like Cycling said. And it can take a long time for the damage to heal. But there is also the fact that, even if the villi heal, the whole system may take a long time ( months or years) to get back to good working order. Also, when people change thier diet drastically, they may be eating more fiber, less fiber, more gassy...
  8. That does seem odd. Of course,, only 3 biopsies over his whole intestinal system isn't much. Maybe the hematologist could call or email the Celiac center at the univ of Chicago and see if one of thier docs would look at it. I say the heme doc, because he or she seems to be the most helpful from what you are saying.
  9. I am not sure how we can help you if you don't want to admit you may have Ceiac and find out for sure? I don't really understand a person who thinks they may have a disease, but instead decides to self diagnosis it? Do people think they might have diabetes and somehow buy insulin and treat themselves? My point is, you could have a very real disease...
  10. Probably still OK. But I was answering a question about gluten. The fact is, most people do not eat thier lotion. The amount that might actually get swallowed is extremely small and any one ingredient is even smaller than that. The chances that an ingredient derived from milk, gluten, etc might actually even still contain gluten, a milk protein, etc...
  11. Just a piece of advice from my experience - if you are doing a BBQ, don't do burgers or hot dogs - things people expect to eat on a bun. gluten-free buns are expensive - 4 for $5-6. Some people will hate them on principle. Some people won't like them even if they give them a fair try. Cook stuff like BBQ chicken or smoked turkey. Things you can serve...
  12. First, I don't have a problem with people drinking beer. Unless they are very sloppy drunks that squirt thier beer everywhere, I don't see an issue. For food, we put on the invitation something like " Due to food allergies in our home, please do not bring any food to share. Your presence is enough". I know Celiac isn't an allergy but it makes more sense...
  13. Another gluten-free junk food I didn't know I needed! Lol Open Original Shared Link
  14. CeraVE cream in the round jar.
  15. What does your dentist say about it? He or she might have some thoughts.
  16. Currently, there are no tests for Celiac if you are gluten free. She would need to do a gluten challenge and eat wheat to be diagnosed with Celiac disease. You could get the genetic tests. Those won't tell you she has Celiac, but could eliminate that as a possibility.
  17. Is it possible she has some other issue that would elevate the tTg? Open Original Shared Link
  18. From the main forum page - use the search in the upper right corner. But don't use the box, click the little " gear". This gives you an advanced search. There is a place to put in your user name and then go down and check " as posts". I fidn it easier to see the individual posts rather than a list of topics a poster has replied to. That's how I would...
  19. Those should all be gluten free. Not sure why one would be "bad for Celiacs". I have right now - different olive oils (some are flavored), safflower oil, toasted sesame oil, a corn oil/canola mix.
  20. Cold is not good. I am pretty sure there is no corn in the crust, it's rice and potato. It's very thin and rather tasteless. The cheese, sauce, etc is what is tasty.
  21. Many of them use Udis buns. Some use other, locally made buns.
  22. Got this response. Sounds like it was taken seriously - maybe not because of Celiac...... Maybe just because of meat cc. But that's a start. " Thank you very much for your email yesterday. As the General Manager here at Dean & DeLuca, my staff and I take great pride in providing the highest quality products and service in order to...
  23. Just a comment - Who is paying for the Celiac blood test? I doubt insurance will pay for it, have it be negative and then pay for it again in 2 months. Just something to consider.
