  1. do they have Talenti? Except for 2? cookie flavors, they are gluten-free. Sea salt caramel...........so good..... Some people have seen them at Walmart - so they are pretty widely available. Open Original Shared Link
  2. Allergies are different than Celiac. Celiacs shouldn't be eating foods that are likely contaminated with wheat -for example, fries from a shared fryer. However, Celiacs should be able to smell gluten bread baking or get some gluten on their skin and be fine. For a Celiac, if there is a lot of flour in the air, then you may ingest some by breathing it...
  3. That isn't true. Read the ingredients. Flour gets sticky when damp. This is just an example of the fact that doctors have litle training in nutrition and none in gluten-free.
  4. I don't know the ingredients on these flavors, but I would eat some Ben and Jerrys flavors. I am assuming from a carton from the grocery? I would be extra careful at a store where they dip the ice cream and put it on cones. Cones often break and drop crumbs in the big tubs of ice cream. Edit to say: Duh! z said from the grocery!
  5. I think you are agreeing with me? I said that they don't have to actually test to label gluten-free with the way the law is currently written but they want to be pretty sure it is gluten-free in case they are complained about and told to prove it. That's all I was trying to get you two to realize. There are symbols - like the gluten-free in the circle...
  6. Open Original Shared Link This expert is extra conservative and super sensitive. This is her take on cheese. She always errs on the side of extreme and sometimes excessive caution. .
  7. I am not sure where you are getting this info from? If these " wheat enzymes" are actually used to produce cheese and contained gluten, wouldn't the Celic Associations warn us of this? I would think you can't eat any cheese then because enzymes aren't a listed ingredient and you wouldn't know where they came from.
  8. You seem to be twisting things we are saying around. For example - wheat flour is sticky when moist - making it incapable of keeping cheese from sticking. This goes back to my suggestion to use some common sense. And there are a very very few cheeses with beer in them - but they aren't the regular old Kraft cheese and they proudly and legally list beer...
  9. Oh yeah... that;s right These are the US ones that are gluten-free Open Original Shared Link Canada - NOT gluten-free Open Original Shared Link
  10. I know that someone just tested Brach's Candy Corn and they were gluten-free.
  11. They should. I used to get meat that way, because, when the boys were little, they liked their meat in little chunks they could stab with a toothpick!
  12. Have a look here: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/ I think there are a couple of books recommended. Occasional accidents will happen and they aren't good for you. The key is "occasional". Cheating is never a good idea. Open Original Shared Link "A lifetime commitment The gluten-free diet is a lifetime requirement...
  13. Ask what else they slice. If they only slice Boars Head - that's great. Usually only cheese is sliced on the cheese, so that should be Ok.
  14. He isn't even 2 yet. He has at least 16 more years of growth to catch up. One of my son's grew an inch between 18 1/2 and 19.
  15. Sounds positive. What did the doctor say? Are you being referred to a GI for an endoscopy? That is usually the next step. Continue to eat a normal gluten containing diet until all testing is done (for the best results).

  17. You are so right. A little common sense in these things is important. For example, all they make on a cheese machine is cheese. Cheese doesn't have gluten. They only make dairy type things in a cheese factory. But a cereal with no gluten ingredients might be made with gluten containing cereals - that would be one I would want a gluten-free on.
  18. South Park has made fun of just about everyone in the whole world in some fashion. Ebola is a new thing & I don't know that they haven't made fun of gluten-free before. They make fun of people with handicaps, war vets, old people, all races, all religions, different professions, etc. I think it is discriminatory if they don't make fun of us, too...
  19. You all realize that the companies, at least in the US, do not have to test to call something gluten-free? The law doesn't really say they must test. Some companies may be labeling things gluten-free that have no gluten ingredients. I think bigger companies will want to test in case the government calls them on a product. You might want to check each...
  20. Had nachos with the left-over chicken from Sunday night while we watched the game. GO ROYALS!
  21. I take it to mean that they won't call a product gluten-free unless they are testing it or making it specially to be gluten-free. If it has gluten in it, they will label it. But, of course its up to you whether to buy the products or not.
  22. Are his blood tests coming back still high? Has he had a repeat endoscopy to check if the damage has healed? If all those are negative - it is possible it could be something besides Celiac.
  23. How are you with rice pasta? Rice or tapioca based flours? Almond flour? sounds like you think you have a problem with corn? Chebe makes a nice pizza crust mix that is made with mannioc/tapioca. Open Original Shared Link
