ARCHIVED Science To Research On Soy With Eggs And Chicken
kareng replied to John Burlingame's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Actually, he put this thread somewhere else. But, because he was talking about soy, not gluten, it was moved to this section "other intolerances". It might be confusing,as this is a Celiac forum and many of us read thread titles & access the thread/topic from the "new content" section and don't notice the "topic" title. -
ARCHIVED Is There A Program That Weeds Out The Bad Stuff
kareng replied to John Burlingame's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Product ingredients can change from one week of manufacturing to the next. Even if you use some sort of app for this, you would still need to read the labels. -

ARCHIVED Best Place To Buy Silicone Spoons
kareng replied to BlessedMommy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You can use wooden ones if that is what you like best. I do have some all one piece silicone ones but I have no clue where they came from. I think Target. But TArget doesn't have the exact thing from year to year. If the dough is really thick - fingers? -
ARCHIVED Being Glutened By Supplements?
kareng replied to Rhobhan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I would be more worried about other things you are eating. Maybe re- check foods you thought were gluten-free and maybe were a few years ago - could have changed? Or the brand you buy isn't gluten-free but most are? Are you eating food prepared by others? Do you live with gluten eaters? Were your blood tests negative? Make sure the doc addresses these... -
ARCHIVED How Did You Heal Your Gut? Besides Giving Up Gluten...
kareng replied to icelandgirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
If you have Celiac disease - you can never eat gluten again. Open Original Shared Link "The gluten-free diet is a lifetime requirement. Eating any gluten, no matter how small an amount, can damage your intestine. This is true for anyone with the disease, including people who do not have noticeable symptoms. It can take weeks for antibody levels (indicating... -

ARCHIVED New Here And Need Help With School Policy
kareng replied to HappyPlace's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Are they telling you that you can't bring home prepared food for your son's lunch (because you have nuts or peanuts there)? I would ask them what you are supposed to bring for your child's lunch? Sounds like they expect you to hit the grocery every morning and get him an apple. Do they enforce this with the other students? And how? -
ARCHIVED Gluten Challenge - Accurate?
kareng replied to Jennn19's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Here is the current recomendations: Open Original Shared Link " For a gluten challenge we recommend eating 1/2 slice of bread or a cracker each day for the duration of the challenge. Prior to blood testing we recommend 12 weeks of eating gluten. Prior to an endoscopic biopsy we recommend 2 weeks of eating gluten." -
ARCHIVED Getting An Answer From Pepsi Or Coke Is Like Pulling Teeth
kareng replied to John Burlingame's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If they use wheat, they have to disclose it. I have never found a soda pop with gluten. I drink Pepsi or Coke occasionally. Soy is not a concern for most Celiacs, so I have no idea if there is soy in any soda. -

http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/recipe/mac-cheese-waffles-recipe-waffleizer-22525703 They added egg to make the mac and cheese stick and bread crumbs. But if you eat eggs - then try some eggs and a spoonful or two of gluten-free flour. I have used any all-purpose for the Irish latkes or rice flour. I thought you were vegan? Just a dairy intolerant... -
The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
kareng replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I would say add a little egg and a smidge of flour. But you don't do egg. Has anyone tried the waffle iron using mashed potatoes - sweet or white? My Irish Grandma used to take leftover mashed potatoes add a bit of egg and flour and fry like a pancake. We called the Irish latkes. The recipe book guy did left-over mac and cheese in them. Let me see... -

I like that little Kitty, too. Babysat the baby nephew yesterday. He is about 10 months. He has 3 dogs at his house. My cat is fascinating to him. She was very good with him. Maybe had a baby in a past house. She lets him touch her but stands or sits just at the end of his reach. It sounded like he kept saying "cat". Some of these TV stations... -
ARCHIVED Hotel Waffle Makers With gluten-free Waffle Mix?
kareng replied to SMRI's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You are right. Only going with things labelled gluten-free will probably be the best for you. If you really liked waffles or things you can cook with a waffle iron, that might be a good item for your travel box. Or maybe a small Foreman grill with the waffle side? Atta is an odd ancient grain wheat. I don't think I have ever seen or eaten it.... -

ARCHIVED New Here And Need Help With School Policy
kareng replied to HappyPlace's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Ok, everybody......simmer down.... This whole thread is really just guessing and speculation. And that's obvious and its OK. No one really knows what the school is thinking. Do they even understand the rule they made? The OP has been back and it looks like the school may not understand thier own rule. Or a lawyer told them to make it. Or....... Just... -

ARCHIVED Hotel Waffle Makers With gluten-free Waffle Mix?
kareng replied to SMRI's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
For a person who insists that she cannot eat a food that doesn't specifically say "gluten-free" on it - even if it should be gluten-free, I find this question surprising. Have you looked at those things - even when clean? I might eat the eggs or the bacon if I could talk to the people making it and get it before too many others have stuck a gravy... -

I prefer a gluten free friendly place myself. Outback is a gluten free friendly place. I think they were trained by GIG? Not sure. You could check the GIG site. Part of what makes them safer is that the steaks, baked potatoes, green beans, etc don't normally have gluten in them for any diner. -
ARCHIVED General Mills To Purchase Annie's
kareng replied to SMRI's topic in Publications & Publicity
Sounds like they bought the whole company. Its not the same as Udi's. Udis had a regular bakery and restaurants. They sold the gluten-free product line but kept the gluteny bakeries and restaurants. They have changed the name of the gluten part that was retained by the family. Udi's gluten-free was sold about 2 years ago. Open Original Shared... -

I posted this a couple of weeks ago. Its different things to cook in a waffle iron. I think they used tator tots for convience. https://gma.yahoo.com/photos/way-more-than-waffles-make-breakfast-lunch-dinner-in-your-waffle-iron-slideshow/ I know I saw one with tator tots but this is the basic idea of using your own potatoes http://abcnews...
