  1. Those look nice. I might try them. I just don't really need to eat them....
  2. OOOOO! I am looking for recipes for blueberries..... Care to share?
  3. google dining cards - Triumph is one brand
  4. I have been known to eat a baked donut..... We have a gluten-free bakery that makes donuts and I think they are baked.
  5. If they are diagnosed with Celiac - then they can't eat any. I suspect these people just decided they are gluten sensitive or went to some quack "doctor" who wanted to sell them some crazy tests and told them they are sensitive. I just say something about I actually have Celiac disease and for people with a real medical need, there is no room to cheat.
  6. I don't worry about "food starch" unless it says "wheat" - which is rare as it usually isn't made from wheat. Eating at restaurants might be a problem. I do eat at some places but if you are having on-going issues, it might be best to just eat what you fix for a while. Eating food made by other people is always risky.
  7. Regular beer usually has barley in it - malt, barley malt, malted, etc. Hops are gluten-free but malt is not. Some beer also has wheat. Being "very pure" has nothing to do with gluten free. You would need to find a beer labelled gluten free. Most hard ciders are gluten free - not exactly beer but might be easier to find.

  9. Are there quick cook gluten-free oats? Or did you just use regular gluten-free oats?
  10. Put up the do not disturb sign?
  11. My sister is the same!
  12. Coffee is very acidic. It can irritate the stomach, particularly an empty one. It is often recommended to eat something or put a little dairy milk in the coffee to help with the acid.

    ARCHIVED Alcohol

To the OP - Barry - I guess you could look into mastocytosis, but it's pretty rare. You might want look into to the more common things first - like a healing gut. Wait a few months and try alcohol again? Which was basically the original question, I think.

And the point is....... We just wanted to be clear for all the confused people following this thread, that thought we were talking about celiac or NCGI - you are not talking about that. And most Celiacs and NCGI can enjoy all those foods you listed. And, it is horrible that you can't have some of these foods - specifically alcohol ( the topic of this...

  16. Here is some info on diagnosing Celiac disease. The whole site has lots of info like symptoms, what tests to have run, etc. Open Original Shared Link
  17. Nachos can be really easy for you. Throw some shredded cheese on the chips and microwave. Dip in salsa. My younger son prefers to put them in the oven for a minute on broil. Then dip in left- over chili if we have it. My older son will micro wave them with left- over bacon or hamburger or chicken or red peppers, etc.
  18. That's a shame,,,,, she knew you should be eating gluten to get blood tested but advised you to stop anyway. Would make me think twice before going with her advice and paying her more money. These people make me angry... They just want to sell you stuff. That's my opinion and experience, anyway.... You can do what you like. I hope you find a way to feel better...

That is something completely different and limits people basically to wines, potato vodkas and some other fruit based alcohols. That is a shame but most Celiacs are fine with those foods. Initially, some may need a period of healing before they can tolerate them well.
  20. And maybe it's copyrighted and we could get in trouble. They might send an infestation of fleas down upon us! I think nuclear bombs are the only way to get rid of fleas? Or maybe that was cockroaches?
  21. Open Original Shared Link Just saw this interesting thing & its gluten-free. It's supposedly 20 meals for 4 for $150 - food purchased at Costco. Less than $8 a meal if my math is correct? Not sure if they take tax into consideration. Looks like you parcel stuff out into crockpot meals and freeze the baggies. Might need $250 for an extra freezer...
  22. Look around that site. She has some good info on food. Open Original Shared Link
  23. I think I gave you this link before. This is from a valid Celiac expert. But, in the end, you will have to deicide who you think is an expert and what you want to eat. You said in another thread that you are having some GI issues and a few of us suggested that you cut out some of the processed things, like powdered coffee creamer, for a few weeks. When...

Even if someday, they make gluten-free beer....it still won't be grain free. That's just what beer is.
