kareng replied to user001's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
There are foods that are harder to digest or harsh on the gut for anyone - Celiac or not. So when a newly diagnosed person, like you, comes on and says they are still having gut issues and they had coffee, hot peppers, dairy, broccoli, etc - we often tell them to eat easier to digest foods or cook the veggies. Its not because these foods keep your gut... -
ARCHIVED Having To Poop Every Few Minutes, Kind Of Embarasing
kareng replied to 3bears2's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I don't know how long you have been gluten-free. It just may take more time to get the whole system working together. Maybe you need to adjust what you are eating? Maybe you need more fiber? Some probiotics or yogurt every day for a few weeks to get a good balance back? -

ARCHIVED Gluten Challenge Advice Needed
kareng replied to jayman6's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Do you aren't doing it to get more blood work? You are doing it just to see if it makes you feel bad? So, I would think you would want to be gluten-free a few more weeks until you feel really good. Then just try eating a favorite gluteny meal and take it from there. If you feel awful in a few hours, stop - you have an answer. It's possible it might take... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Challenge Advice Needed
kareng replied to jayman6's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you have had the tests, what is the reason for the gluten challenge? Usually, a gluten challenge is 12 weeks of gluten for someone who has been gluten-free for a long time. Then they do the blood tests and endoscopy. -

ARCHIVED Pelvic Pain And Discomfort And Peeing All The Time
kareng replied to icelandgirl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Don't get too worried. You don't have all the data yet. I don't know your age, but it could be some female issues that aren't fatal and are fixable. See what you see tomorrow. It's possible to have 2 problems -Celiac and something else. Often the " something else" is fixable.- 60 replies

I know what you mean. Sometimes it's just too much effort for 1 or 2 people when you have other things going on. Maybe on a day off? Or cook things that make good left overs? -

ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed, Questions
kareng replied to Brian Jackson's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Oh..wait...if you are still testing ( endoscopy) you need to continue to eat gluten. Would be horrible to be gluten-free for 3 months, get an endoscopy and have a lot of healed areas that they biopsy and tell you " no celiac"! Open Original Shared Link -

These posts were from about 4 years ago. Hopefully, they are better at gluten free now? I have found that some places that said they wouldn't even try to do gluten-free 4 years ago are really into it today (2014).

ARCHIVED Isn't Baking Soda And Powder Gluten Free?
kareng replied to Bellamia's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The "Gluten free" on a baking powder label has nothing to do with corn. It could still have corn starch. For labeling purposes and Celiac Disease - corn " gluten" is not called gluten.
