The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
kareng replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I don't know where they get the crust. I think all CPKs get the same crust. I know some chains buy crusts or buns locally. I think the crust is pretty good for a gluten-free crust. There are only 4 choices - pepperoni, Margarita, BBQ chicken & spinach and mushroom. I think you can also get a regular cheese pizza, too. -

It's nice to see that you can find dates that aren't scared off by gluten-free eating and brushing their teeth. So... You promise them a kiss on the second date, what do you promise them on the third or fourth date? Winky....winky... -

ARCHIVED Can “Glutenase” Pills Help People With Celiac Digest Gluten?
kareng replied to kareng's topic in Publications & Publicity
The point is that they do nothing! Nada! They (Celiac researchers with a pharmaceutical company) are working on one (ALV003) and we have had articles about that. They are still going thru trials of various kinds. They look promising to take occasionally for eating out. I am not sure if they will be by prescription only or OTC. I think that will...- 21 replies

ARCHIVED Can “Glutenase” Pills Help People With Celiac Digest Gluten?
kareng replied to kareng's topic in Publications & Publicity
I still don't understand how posting something that explains why these pills don't work hurts anyone but the company that makes them. There are lots of posts on here for stuff that you can google and find the same info on other reputable sites - Celiac tests, symptoms, what foods not to eat, how much gluten to eat for a challenge, etc. We still put...- 21 replies

ARCHIVED Can “Glutenase” Pills Help People With Celiac Digest Gluten?
kareng replied to kareng's topic in Publications & Publicity
Huh? This thread was dead and buried until you brought it back to life to argue that I shouldn't have posted it because it causes attention to the product. I was just posting a link to a little interview with Dr. G that might be helpful to someone. If the topic isn't helpful for you because you already know the information - fine. Don't read it. I don...- 21 replies

ARCHIVED Can “Glutenase” Pills Help People With Celiac Digest Gluten?
kareng replied to kareng's topic in Publications & Publicity
Back in April, when I posted this, we were having a lot of people taking these bogus pills. I thought that having an expert opinion posted on the forum might be helpful. People google these pills and I hoped that they might find this link. I thought that some of us could use this thread to point people in the correct direction when they come on saying...- 21 replies

ARCHIVED Endoscopy Before Blood Test?
kareng replied to mitty102's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Might be a good question to ask him. I suspect it is because he really thinks you have an ulcer or something else that he will see on endoscopy. Rather than spend the $300+ on blood work....because he needs to do the endo anyway. -
ARCHIVED Contamination Anxiety- Help!
kareng replied to afitgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This seems like deja vu. Seems like we have had these same comments before..... Eating gluten-free and accidental gluten are not the same as telling people they can eat things with gluten just because it didn't bother you. -

ARCHIVED Contamination Anxiety- Help!
kareng replied to afitgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If your follow-up tests are all negative, I guess you are doing OK. Like I said before, that test wasn't done to say "Hey Celiacs! You can cheat everyday." I think it was one of the ones done to try to see if a 20ppm standard would be safe for most Celiacs. When I heard them talk about that study, they never once suggested it was so people could... -

ARCHIVED Any Natural Cures For Trapped Wind, Left Sided Discomfort
kareng replied to cristiana's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you have room to move around, even just walk, that will help. If you can lay down - lay on your back and press downward on the "trapped" section. Maybe move to lay on 1 side for a minute or two and then the other. Put your legs up a wall to elevate your hips above your stomach area.
