  1. You weren't really asking about specific products. The questions were the typical - I just got diagnosed, where do I go from here. I am sorry if I can't help you. Perhaps reading the dinner chat might help you with the what Celiacs eat?
  2. Originally, you posted this under products. I moved it here because I thought you had a diagnosis. I just wanted to help you as I have some knowledge about Celiac disease and know there is no such thing as a " gluten allergy". There are wheat allergies. Sometimes we say allergy to get other people, like a waiter, to understand. There are a lot of clueless...
  3. Wow! Ok.... Well... This is a Celiac Forum, so we may lean a bit that direction. As I said - I would want to know if I have an autoimmune disease and a blood test is pretty simple. An autoimmune disease is a bit more serious than an intolerance. I just want you to have the info to make a good decision. But...assuming Celiac or NCGI, this is a good place...
  4. If it were me, before I gave up gluten, I would get a real Celiac blood panel and maybe an endoscopy with biopsies. I don't see how the allergist diagnosed you without that. There aren't any legit tests for gluten intolerance so that is a hard thing for an MD to diagnose. There are others that know more about allergies - but food allergies testing is unreliable...
  5. Here's the thing.... There are lots of Celiacs, with lots of different ideas about what they should or should not put in, on, around, over or under their bodies. (think about a few of those ) They come here wanting to know if these things are gluten-free. So we tell them. I don't see anything wrong with telling them it isn't good for them if you want...
  6. Can you put them in the oven and run the self clean cycle? We just get new grill parts every year or so anyway. Not sure if that would work for the type you have.
  7. A note about the flavored wines - I have never found any gluten added to the few I have seen. I am not very fond of them so I don't usually drink them. A wine cooler is usually not wine - it is a malt beverage- so it contains gluten.
  8. If your cat doesn't go outside, how would it get fleas? That is what I would say.
  9. If we could just add them to Mt Dew and Gatorade!
  10. Get a copy of the blood tests and see what they actually tested. Sometimes, they don't do the correct tests. So I would check all that first. Were you gluten free for any time period?
  11. Hi Irish's Mom! I am on Central time so it isn't past my bedtime yet. The problem with getting sent to my room is that they all find me! The dog, the cat, the kid, the other kid if he is home from college, the hub, my neighbor, her dog..... I need your mom to send to me Tahiti. That might be far enough to punish me!
  12. Just wanted to make sure you and those reading along know that razors are not a concern for Celiacs. Sounds like you know that. If the " lotions" bother you because of your allergies, just get a plain one. Have a super shiny day!
  13. Like I said before - the celiac Disease Center website isn't working properly. I would like to link you to some reliable medical info. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. If a molecule as big as gluten could go through your skin, you would be getting blood clots. Sure, there are some small things that can go through your skin - like some specially made medications...
  14. With Celiac disease, you must consume the gluten to get a true Celiac reaction. The reaction occurs in the small intestine. I was going to post a link to the Univ of Chicago Celiac center but they seem to be having some website problems.
  15. Maybe I should say "gluten eater"?
  16. Is it possible that there is something else in them bothering you? Especially if you eat a lot at once? Just a thought.
  17. I think the blood work would be good for follow up purposes. You need to get it checked after about 6 months gluten-free & then every year. It may not be negative after 6 months , but you could see it going down and know you are on the right track.
  18. We have been having turkey sandwiches. I made a really great turkey breast in the crockpot on Sunday. I think we will have some chicken tacos tonight. I throw the chicken tenders or breasts in the crockpot with a can of enchilada sauce for a couple of hours. Then it is ready whenever we are.
  19. First - a colonoscopy is not used to diagnoses Celiac. Second, if you have been gluten-free for 2 years, you should have no damage. You might want to get a new doctor or show them some info from The. Univ of Chicago Celiac center. Open Original Shared Link
  20. It might be that anything your parents would have cooked would have gluten. If you didn't supervise, read every label & make sure the utensils, pans, colanders are free of gluten.....who knows
  21. The beer at Kaufman ( KC Royals) is the same as any bottled beer. Outrageous, yes. But it is so rare that I can go and actually get food items like a normal person. They haven't had any specific gluten-free stuff - so the ice cream, popcorn , etc is the same price. I don't buy concession stand popcorn - it's much better and no cc risk at the popcorn cart...
  22. Listen to Stephanie. She knows a lot about this stuff.
  23. I agree with all of the above. If you really like this situation, you need to find a way to make it work. If that means locking up your utensils & food - explain it and do it.
