ARCHIVED Blood Test Says Positive, But Endoscopy Says Negative!
kareng replied to ibex333's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You would need a new one to get diagnosed anyway. Maybe you didn't have Celiac then but you could have it now. -
ARCHIVED What Is The Recommended Test For Food Allergens? Food Journal Isn't Cutting It Anymore..
kareng replied to ezgoindude's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Most "functional medicine doctors" are not MDs. I am happy if you feel these tests helped you but there are no medically/scientifically proven tests for food intolerances. Allergies are different and there are some ways to test for them. -
ARCHIVED Lager Post, Fosters Carling Etc Says Contains Wheat
kareng replied to adrenalin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am having a hard time understanding what you are asking..... so I'll answer with the general rule as this is a Celiac website - People with Celiac Disease should not have any barley or wheat - in beer or otherwise. Regular beer is not safe for Celiacs. It doesn't matter to a Celiac what the ppm are on these beers as they are likely over the... -
ARCHIVED Temporarily Bringing Gluten Into A Gluten Free Kitchen--Help Me Think This Through
kareng replied to BlessedMommy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
We cook frozen gluten pizza in our oven ( I have an 18 & 20 yr old). No big deal. Pizza doesn't jump off the pan onto another pan. We order gluten pizza and they eat it at the table. Once again..it's not jumping around. -

ARCHIVED Celiac Or Not? I Am Going Insane Here...
kareng replied to Matt268's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Without the gene, its not likely that you have Celiac disease. Open Original Shared Link I would get all the blood tests, gene tests & pathology report from the endoscopy. See how positive the blood test was. IF the blood test is only slightly elevated and the endoscopic biopsies are negative, maybe you don't have Celiac disease. ... -

ARCHIVED Blood Test Says Positive, But Endoscopy Says Negative!
kareng replied to ibex333's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
How long ago was the endoscopy? How many samples did the doctor take? You have about 20 feet of small intestine, it is easy to miss the damaged parts. Get copies of your blood work and your endo/pathology. If its been a few years and you are still eating gluten, you could get all this re-tested. IF you have Celiac disease and continue to eat gluten... -
ARCHIVED Is Diagnosis Necessary?
kareng replied to justlovlie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I wouldn't do a gluten challenge while pregnant. That could harm or kill the baby. Reasons to have a diagnosis as an adult- - Helps with a reason to get your kids tested - Hospital & other health care places should feed you gluten-free (some are still clueless about the gluten-free diet) - Ever want to participate in research studies - New medications... -

I'm not sure you will get many answers. Morocco sounds very interesting. Sounds like you are going with some sort of tour. Have you asked the tour group about this? Maybe you could email their person in Morocco and talk about it?

ARCHIVED Need A Little Help If Possible.
kareng replied to beth01's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The general idea is - can you clean it well? A toaster- not really cleanble. a colander - really hard to clean every little hole. Pyrex lasagna pan - cleans so well in the dish washer. My crockpot is slick and seems to clean up well. I never really put much in it that is gluten either. For my mixer, I set it in the sink and squirted it with a mixture... -

ARCHIVED Dealing With People Who Don't Understand
kareng replied to veryami1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
When I said " expect" I picked the wrong word. Should have said I wouldn't let anyone cook for me, even if they offer. I tell them " I don't expect anyone to go to all the extra trouble that cooking for me will be.". I think that sounds nicer than " there is no way someone like you can figure out how to make safe food for me". I have found it makes... -
ARCHIVED Dealing With People Who Don't Understand
kareng replied to veryami1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I wouldn't expect her to cook gluten-free. You offered to bring food for everyone and she said no. Just bring your own food or eat first or don't go if you don't really want to go. I usually tell people I will bring my own food because its a pain to figure out how to cook safely for me. -

ARCHIVED Eating Single Ingredient Foods When At Gatherings
kareng replied to BlessedMommy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't really worry about this wooden cutting board thing. If it has been washed, I doubt we can really be glutened by it. I worry about people with lax cleaning habits and who might have cut things on actual bread crumbs. But you know who they are. what I do worry about at these gatherings is the crackers and stuff that people drop on the cheese... -
ARCHIVED Additional Food Intolerances - Poll
kareng replied to CR5442's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
In all fairness, I feel I must answer this. I don't really have any other food issues. Nothing I would call an intolerance. I think it is normal for everyone , Celiac or not, to have some foods that might not work for them. I know many people that are lactose intolerant, for example. They don't have Celiac. It is just a fact that adult mammals don't... -
ARCHIVED Genetic Factors And Triggers
kareng replied to NoGlutenCooties's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am sure all the Celiac researchers may change their minds, too when they see some evidence of another gene. But until then, I have to go with science and the experts and the current, researched knowledge when posting on this site. There is lots of research out there about the Celiac genes. You can certainly read some of it if you wish. Or not read...
