  1. This post was on a 2 year old thread. Not sure K8 is still on.
  2. I don't think they are valid because there is no medical evidence they are valid. Unfortunately, in the US, it appears you can make many medical claims with no proof.
  3. Sometimes, a poster has his account set up to get an email if you " quote" their post. Maybe he will see this? Mr. Softee - there are gluten-free cones but they are pricey. Most of us just like to be able to get a bowl with or without toppings.
  4. That's why I print them off ( showing that they are from U of C) and highlight the 2 or 3 sentences that support my issue. I show them to him/ her during a visit.
  5. If that test was low, you would need a different way to test for Celiac. It looks like you make plenty of the antibodies they were testing you for. Obviously, your doctor doesn't understand Celiac testing. That is why I suggested you read and give him some info from a reliable medical source. He would not consider an internet forum a reliable source...
  6. Open Original Shared Link Also, there are currently no tests for non-celiac gluten intolerance. You might want to share some of these links or print them out for your doctor. Perhaps, he/she would consider them because they are from a medical center?
  7. Your test that is high, just means that you are able to make the antibodies the other tests look for. A few people cannot make the right antibodies for the test, that is why they do that test. You would need to be eating gluten to get an accurate biopsy. Do you have an actual copy that you could fax or scan and email? It sounds like your doctor is confused...
  8. I love to hear about your turkeys and chickies. They sound very happy!
  9. Well...you paid a lot of money. They have to give you something to make it seem it was worth it. There is no scientific basis for this "cross-reactivity" stuff, either. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  10. I split this into its own topic as I felt that would be more helpful.
  11. Due to budget cuts, your decoder ring may be delayed. Costumes are optional.
  12. Open Original Shared Link Is it possible to have a negative blood test, but a positive biopsy? While rare, it is possible to have a negative blood test and still have celiac disease. tTG sensitivity is approximately 98%, which means that 2% of all celiacs may have a normal tTG level. Sometimes tTG antibodies are not produced enough to show up in the blood...
  13. We just get something like this. My hub would think his time was worth more than the $20 to replace the grates. Open Original Shared Link When we travel and want to use a grill at the hotel or condo, we get some disposible ones from Walmart. The ones I get have ridges & small slits oin the bottom to let the grease out. You open them up....

    ARCHIVED Dental Horror

That's awful! Did they tell you to eat before you get those numbing shots? My dentist says that they work better if you have a little food in you. They even have you drink some juice before they stick you.
  15. Maybe he would talk with the doctor or read something like this? You could send him a few things to read from an actual medical center? Open Original Shared Link If he won't follow her diet, you will have to consult a lawyer. Maybe you will have to report him to social services for medical negligence? At least she is 12 and will know what is OK and...
  16. We just buy new grates every year or two. They aren't expensive at the hardware store. You could torch and scrub and that would probably work. If the grates are small enough, you could put them in a self cleaning oven and turn it on the clean cycle.
  17. I think soft serve ice cream is pretty safe. It comes from the machine into a cup. I get Dairy Queen sometimes.
  18. I don't even try to compete! . I feel some of us should represent the " real" people! So: chili in the crockpot &/ chili Mac with corn pasta for those who like chili that way. This time it's lean hamburger with black beans & pinto beans.
  19. They are considered very accurate. Welcome to the club! Open Original Shared Link "In blood tests, are false positives less common than false negatives? Even though blood tests are quite accurate, they are falsely positive 1-3% of the time (i.e., being positive without the person having celiac) and, although less commonly, falsely negative 1-2% of the...
  20. I think most of the Super Sensitives would never eat at a school cafeteria/ food court. I'm not extra sensitive, but I always make sure I have some safe food with me - a packet of nuts, or pack a lunch
  21. 1 2 3 Jinx! We were posting at the same time!
  22. Did you get a copy of the tests from your doc? Maybe he didn't even do the right tests? Its been known to happen. And this is the right place to discuss tests and results.
  23. Lots of brands say " gluten-free" right on them. These you can find at Target and Walmart Open Original Shared Link
  24. Using common sense, they really can't process anything else on a pb machine. It would be a greasy mess as well as everything would have to mention peanuts for a peanut allergy. They probably only process PB in a factory. You could try to buy raw peanuts, wash them well, roast them and grind them and see how you do.
