ARCHIVED Not Sure What Is Going On........
kareng replied to rami's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I missed the football practice part the first time. I'm assuming it was a full pads practice. If he is still having stabbing pain today, I would take him to the doc. Tell him he had practice. It is possible he got hit just right and injured something. Not trying to scare you as the odds are against it but, this is similiar to a kid on my son's team... -
ARCHIVED Not Sure What Is Going On........

Could it be the artificial sweetener? Crystal Light is gluten-free. I believe it has aspartame in it. My son (not celiac)) and I have stomach pains and bloating from that sweetener. Crystal Light has a few flavors called "Pure"" that use Truvia as a sweetener that works for me. Just looking at the package it says gluten-free on the box. -

Any home improvementn or craft projects planned? Spackle? Wood glue? Perhaps a mold and it will eventually dry out? Cement patching? Just started imagining if you put it out for the birds. The squirrels will get there first. That's a pretty funny thought! Maybe I could put it in the glass kiln and we cook cook it to 1500F? Call them crackers... -
We were just there in March. We went to Mi Casa. It was good but not great. It is not cheesy Mexican. They bring you your own chips and bowl of salsa. They are just Tostitos but it was nice to be able to eat chips and salsa. Open Original Shared Link At Breckinridge ski resort, there is a little place inside the Ski Hil Grill that has gluten-free...

A movie is less than 2 hours. Even a newborn baby can go 2-3 hours without eating. We don't usually eat at a movie. When the kids were little, I brought Tootsie pops. I guess I'm "The Most Evil Mom Ever".

Ahoy Mateys! Tis the tenth Anniversary of Talk Like a Pirate Day! Argh! A wee pirate tale to regale you: A pirate walks into a bar and the bartender says, "Hey, I haven't seen you in a while. What happened, you look terrible!" "What do you mean?" the pirate replies, "I'm fine." The bartender says, "But what about that wooden leg? You didn't have... -
Mine was a jerk. He did do a lot of biospies but had no real knowledge of Celiac and was a jerk. I'll Pm you his name. I have heard that Randy Brown or Dr. Buser are good GIs 10200 W 105th St Suite 200 Overland Park, KS 66212 (913) 495-9600 (Office) If you need a Pediatric doctor, my friends daughter goes to Julia Bracken at the Celiac clinic...

ARCHIVED Colonoscopy - What To Ask And What To Expect
kareng replied to Pegleg84's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
GI docs do the colonoscopy so I think you would see one before the procedure. While they are doing the colonoscopy, they can do an endo, too. Get both ends at once. -
Not really sure what you mean by "when I am off my diet I eat gluten all the time ". If you have Celiac you must stay on a gluten free diet to be healthy. Reading ingredient labels is the best way to know if there is gluten in a product.

Look at my pic on my profile. That was a Halloween costume. I wore a chef jacket and hat and Hub wore black pants, white shirt & tie and a short black waiters apron. You can get them at a uniform store (the kind that sell to nurses). Very comfy. Or one of you could be the waiter and the other a diner if you could find one of those "lobster bibs"... -

That's plenty of food. You don't need bread. You have potatoes.

What we are saying is you aren't glutened from steam. I think I have tried to explain it several times. I even suggested an alternative way you may have been glutened - splashes or drips. There is no point in my continuing this discussion as I think I have said all I can on the subject. You appear to have a reason to want to argue that you are not...

I keep hearing about them so I looked them up. Open Original Shared Link "A HIDA scan is an imaging procedure that helps track the production and flow of bile from your liver to your small intestine. Bile is a fluid produced by your liver that helps your digestive system break down fats in the foods you eat. A HIDA scan, which stands for hepatobiliary... -
I think we are posting at the same time. I have decided to know longer have gluten pasta in my house. Everyone likes rice pasta and corn pasta, so I will provide that. the reason I have decided not to have gluten pasta anylonger is not because I get sick from the steam but the splatter,. They boil over the pasta, it splatters gluteny pasta water...

First, we are not saying you are a "pyscho". I think people have politely tried to explain this to you. Many of us have gotten anxious about being around gluten. I still think some of that boiling liquid splattered around and got on something. Beer has gluten because it isn't distilled. You do not capture the steam (vapors) and let them cool to a...

I was just trying to explain physics & chemistry and help you find the true cause. But I do agree, he doesn't need to be brewing gluteny beer in your home. I understand its a messy process.

I would tell hub no gravy and bread today. Suck it up! Its hard to keep track of where the gluten goes. Putting them on the table away from the food or personally serving people a roll with tongs might be the best solutions if you must. I just worry someone will have a roll on the plate and go back to the buffet for more and the roll will fall off in...

I think what you may have missed in Peter's explanation is that a gluten particle (molecule) is too large and heavy to rise in steam. Its quite possible some boiling liquid was sloshed around and you got some of it on your counter, plates, etc.

ARCHIVED Dried Fruit Contaminated With Gluten?
kareng replied to nama shivaya's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
No, there is nothing wrong with adding to old threads. What I am trying to warn you and any others that now see it (because it is now bumped up to new), is that product ingredients, and manufacturing practices are not always the same 5 years later. Also, sometimes people don't realize how old it is and expect the people on the thread to reply to them... -

ARCHIVED Is My Wife Itching From Celiac Disease?
kareng replied to Mike1922's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
There are a few reasons for itching with no rash besides Celiac. Decrease in female Hormones - especially after having a child. Decreasing hormones can cause itching with or without dry skin. When you are new here, your first 10 posts must be approved by a moderator before they show up. This helps us keep the spam off the threads. I put the second one on because both posts were bascially the same but the second has a question. So I figured that was the one to use. -
Do they fry the chips in the same oil as other things? Lots of places do. Possible that the chesse, onions, etc sit in little bins in the kitchen that are used for many other foods. So a possibility that croutons from the crouton bin fell in or hands or spoons that scooped out croutons then scooped out cheese. Could be gluten in the salsa. In a restauraunt...
