ARCHIVED The Funny Pages - Tickle Me Elbow - The Original

I thought about having the boys weld us new duodenums. But maybe we just need some heat tape and tie wraps? Grass is quite crispy here, too. Supposed to be 101 today and a little hotter everyday after this. We must be getting used to it. We thought 90 last night was nice weather. -

ARCHIVED Some gluten-free Bread May Not Be Gluten Free!

One more try....I and your Livestrong article do not say corn is cross contaminated. We both say that a corn product may have gluten grain added to make a finished product. We both say to read the ingredients as that added grain will be listed. This Livestrong article is no where near what you first said. Accusing us of lying or misleading or trying... -

ARCHIVED Some gluten-free Bread May Not Be Gluten Free!

That isn't what you were saying. That doesn't say corn is bad, it says there might be a wheat, barley or rye added to a corn product, so don't assume. Read ingredients. Honestly, I don't know if we aren't explaining something well enough, we are all misunderstanding each other, or you are too upset to really read what people are trying to say. I don... -

ARCHIVED Some gluten-free Bread May Not Be Gluten Free!

You aren't told its controversial, because its not. You are new, so we thought maybe you didn't understand the term gluten and how its used in " plant talk " and how we use it, in "food talk." We tried to explain that. We have tried to explain that it takes more than a month or two to heal and get your digestive system in order. You could have a problem... -

Not objecting to that. Don't know about the Doritos in Australia back then. Could be cc at the factory. Just saying, she's not really a good medical resource. -

You seem to not understand the word gluten, maybe? That was what Tom was trying to tell you. We missuse the word gluten when we say "gluten free diet". All grains have gluten. The types of gluten have different names and are different. However, it has become the custom to call the gluten types in wheat, rye and barley 'gluten". Your article mentions... -

I agree with Jess. Unless there is a breeze, gluten can't jump up and chase you or your food. Thank goodness! -

ARCHIVED Some gluten-free Bread May Not Be Gluten Free!
kareng replied to DogWalkerNYC's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I would like to know what research shows that 90% of us don't get better on a gluten-free diet? If that is true, why would we bother? Why would medical research centers recommend the gluten-free diet? -

I think you can only read thier "studies" if you subscribe to thier website. I know that some people with Celiac and some people without Celiac have issues with corn, or potatoes or strawberries. If corn was a concern, don't you think the Celiac Medical Centers would warn us? I still wonder why you have targeted one manufacturer of gluten-free products... -

ARCHIVED Some gluten-free Bread May Not Be Gluten Free!
kareng replied to DogWalkerNYC's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Corn doesn't bother me. All of the reputable Celiac associations and Celiac Medical Centers do not warn against corn. Why say bad things about only Schar? Lots of certified gluten-free foods have corn in them. Do you have a personal issue with that company? -
Pack well Barty! My favorite neighbor, age 8, came over with her little fluffy dog. (Hub made a gate in the back fence). Our dogs were playing and we were hiding from the skeeters on my screened porch. We were remarking that it was odd that 90 felt nice.

ARCHIVED My First Celiac Kiss :(
kareng replied to GlutenFree-MLDub's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have 16 and 19 year old sons. They each have at least one friend with Celiac as well as a mom and a friends sister. When I was diagnosed and we told them, they already knew some about it. They would be willing to date a gluten-free girl. They could go to Pei Wei or PF Changs and eat gluten-free so they could kiss her. Thier dad has talked to them... -

ARCHIVED Would Love Your Input On This
kareng replied to Staceyshoe's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
He's 7? He doesn't run the family, the parents do. At least that's how I feel about it. I known that isnt popular right now. Don't give him or have any gluten food around him. If he eats gluten at a friends, he doesn't go back there. He eats his home packed lunch at school. If he doesn't, you will have to go to school and eat lunch with him. ... -

ARCHIVED Can Gluten Go Directly To The Bloodstream Through Cuts Etc?
kareng replied to 123glldd's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Here are the emails I recieved in May of this year i like my repellent to be gluten-free, not because I'm worried that the tiny amount of wheat germ oil will go thru my skin, but because I don't want to swallow it. Seems lke when you spray, it goes everywhere or the rub on stays on your hands. -

So...you had enough damage that they found it with only 3 biopsy samples? The reason 8-12 samples is recommended is because some people don't have enough damage to find it with only 3 samples. I guess you can live in denial for a few more years. That denial can lead to the more serious issues you are looking for. I know you don't want to have Celiac...
