  1. IN the US, in food, wheat must be clearly labelled. It cannot "hide". Rye is used in bread so its pretty obvious, Barley is listed as barley or malt. However, if it says "rice malt" that is made of rice. IF it just says malt, it likely is made of barley.
  2. Unless someone's gluteny pizza exploded and is falling off the "ceiling" in the microwave, this is not a concern for most Celiacs.
  3. Here's a thread about what people eat for breakfast. Really, you can eat left-overs from dinner. It really doesn't have be the typical cereal or eggs.
  4. I usually say "As long as they don't use it on someone else." or "Keep your haircare to yourself!" Applies to a couple of boys as well as the girls.
  5. Now I have a parent that has told a bunch of the other parents that there is no cost to them for the kids to travel with the team. If a random someone decides the kids don't have to buy thier own food, does that make it so? I'm going to hide in a hole, now.
  6. Looks like several forum members will be there:
  7. Ah Robotics Season! The time of year when I send an email and get responses from parents with 8 questions back. 4 of the questions are answered in the email I just sent. 2 are answered in the previous info sent. 2 are WTF? questiions like can they bring a curling iron? Do they have to eat at McDonalds? Ant the ever popular- You are leaving at 3...
  8. Whatever you bring, either bring a separate portion for yourself or scoop yours up before its on the buffet table. people have a habit of using spoons from one dish to another, holding a crumbly muffin over all the food while they grab a carrot stick with thier gluteny crumb filled fingers, etc.
  9. Just read something about the pretty jewelry ones. I wish I could remember where I read it. It said that the paramedics & ER staff don't always know they are med alert bracelets. Some are to subtle. They suggested you make sure it's obvious what the bracelet s for.I
  10. Don't you hate it when they "improve" a product?
  11. Last I checked, brand name Excederin was gluten-free and its good for migranes. You can usually call these compnaies and get an immediate response. Sometimes its a bit of a CYA statement : "We add no gluten ingredients but can't guarentee....."
  12. We just want to make sure the new poster realizes that they likely won't get a response from someone who hasn't been on here in 2 years. Some people get mad that they don't get a response. Also, any product info might have changed over the years.
  13. She and I have been pming about the stuff our boys are using but I think I should put this here, incase anyone else wants to see it. Our derm said she would not give Accutane to anyone with celiac or celiac in the family. She has had a bad experience with it with some patients. She said the small amount of studies are inconclusive but look like something...
  14. If you are just skin and bones, you don't need to fill up on 2 calorie celery sticks. Chicken is sometimes injected with salt water. There are some "natural" ones that aren't. Jenny O turkey is gluten free. Make some soup with meat.
  15. Do you have a copy of these positive blood tests? Maybe you should post which tests and what the numbers were. How long have you been gluten-free? The antibodies can take quite awhile to go down.
  16. Just want to mention the envelope thing, once again. It is a Celiac myth. But it's still gross to lick them.
  17. You could make your own tp. Interesting but a lot of work. Interesting tho. Open Original Shared Link I have seen people use clothes to wipe: Open Original Shared Link
  18. Who knows in the middle-east? I didn't even know they had ketchup! IN the US. dextrin and flavorings are considered safe.
  19. Just to address the chewing gum and ketchup issue. I don't chew gum but I haven't heard of any with gluten. I would think sugar free gum would be OK. In the US, i haven't seen any ketchup with gluten. Have you had yourself tested for anemia, iron, ferritin, B12, calcium, magnesium, vitamin D? Severe vitamin deficiencies are a result of the intestinal...

    ARCHIVED Q-Tips?

I don't see why they would have gluten. Its kinda gross that you are "cleaning" with spit. So stop! In all seriousness, I don't know if you could even find out what they are made of. they aren't meant to go in a human mouth, so they don't have to tell you the ingredients.
  21. In 2 weeks? Wow! And you thought gluten-free bread was was going to be the big expense!
  22. At least he wears clean underwear occasionally.
  23. While that fruit may be perfectly safe in the kitchen, once on a banquet table with crumbly muffins and flakey croissants , it's going to have crumbs in it. I would eat first or bring my own. If people ask, just say " My doctor told me not to eat food from buffets or other kitchens as the risk of crumbs accidentally getting on the safe food will make me...
  24. I'm sorry! I was just trying to joke about the conspiracy. My relative really thinks that. Which is ridiculous. I need to stop trying to be funny. I just see no reason they would dust something with flour unless they wanted it to stick together.
  25. I have moved this over to the Super sensitive thread because you are having problems with certified gluten free products that work for most Celiacs. Maybe one of the more sensitive people can help you better. Hope that helps you get something to eat!
