  1. What exactly did the company say? That they don't test for gluten? Putting damp wheat on your glass would be a smeary mess. If you are worried about the product, just use ammonia and a little water.
  2. Some of the celiac centers like Chicago, Maryland & Columbia have some easy to read info on thier websites if she could use those.
  3. Red, but not carrot red, pale skin & freckles.
  4. Yes. They should do the Celiac panel again. Just because it wasn't positive, once, doesn't mean it's not now. It's like doing a strep test on a sore throat 2 years ago. It was negative. If she gets a sore throat today, does that test 2 years ago mean she will never get strep ? Of course not. Doctors can be so frustrating. Even if it's negative, they...
  5. Did the Ped do the Celiac blood tests? Vitamin deficiency tests? Why not get those done now. the Pediatrician can order them. They can take 1-2 weeks to get back. Then you could have them in hand, positive or negative, to show the GI. Otherwise, he might send you for them & it will be another 2-4 weeks before your next appointment with him.
  6. Google "Catholic charities Your county state" I think you might see something under "Emergency assistance"
  7. I live in the Kansas City area so I will tell you a few basic places here & you can see if they have that there. Food pantries might not have a lot you can use, but some assistance is helpful. Catholic Charities can give you food and sometimes they have money to pay your utilities. I don't think you have to be Catholic, just live in the area they...
  8. I figured there must be more ways to get it or lots of us would be deficient. We didn't eat beans growing up because my mom didn't like them. I eat them now but not everyday.
  9. Just to let you know, these posters haven't been on the forum since 2008. Don't expect an answer back from them.
  10. Actually...its I don't think you mean 20 percent. Its 20 parts per million. That's 0.002% if I calculated that on this wierd calculator and understand it correctly. Also, just because it tests at less then 10 ppm as the ice cream does, that just means it has less than 10. It could have 9 or it could have 0 ppm. I like thier products, especially...
  11. A few more " benefits": If you have kids, most insurance & doctors are good with Celiac testing as its genetic because the mom or dad has Celiac. Gives your doc & insurance company a reason to approve various tests that go with Celiac like Thyroid, vitamin deficiencies, bone scans, etc. Gives you a doctors note to use when bringing...
  12. The last time I went there was about 10 years ago. We wern't worried about gluten-free at that time. I remember that back then, they had info for "special diets". We were just happy they had lots of fruit cups (not just pizza). We loved it!
  13. Enjoy the new kitchen stuff! I always wanted a marble rolling pin, so I got one! Its a nice bonus. As for the family, you are diagnosed. Your doctor said. That's all they have to know. Blame many things on your doctor, it works for most people. The small intestine is 16-20 feet long. If they take 10 (most take 2)microscopic samples, it would be easy...
  14. As long as the jury isn't sequestered! With nothing to eat, we will be really crabby!
  15. But then we get into the Lifetime TV movie thing. "Stalked on the Internet" "Celiac Serial Killer" "Love on Celiac.com" "I found my birth family on aCeliac website! Subtitle: Now I know who to blame for these genes"
  16. Since she didn't post this, I'm wondering....Who wants her to lose weight? You? You could suggest that she get her thyroid checked as a malfuntioning one can make it very hard to lose weight.
  17. Alice! Honestly! I hope you find a cure but this continued denial isn't going to help you heal and be as healthy as you can be.
  18. Honey! I have 2 boys 16 & 19. The amount they grow between 12 and 16 is incredible! My 19 year old even grew an inch to 6 1 between 18 & 19. You get it taken care of at 8, he could likely be taller than dad.
  19. Not sure why antihistamine helps with Celiac? It's not an allergy. Here in the US, you can't just get an injection of medications without going to a doctor. Unless you meant an Epi pen. It's an emergency thing you stick ( inject) yourself with for a severe allergy reaction. But that isn't for Celiac.
  20. Read the previous posts on this thread & you will get your info.
  21. Ok....so you should have been healed by now and were doing well. Everything is exactly the same on the weekend except......Hub! More Hub! Possible he is doing something different? Using a new deodorant? Lotion? Shampoo? Might have nothing to do with gluten? Just the fragrance and spending more time with it is bothering you? Maybe a cologne he only...
  22. Well....then maybe you are crazy? I can't remember how long you have been doing the gluten-free thing but maybe it just needs time.
  23. I'm trying to find a way to say this so it doesn't sound like I'm calling you a crazy, because that isn't my intent. Sometimes, we have lots of responsibilities during the week like kids or a job. We can't be sick. We push it down. But, when the weekend comes, and the hub is home to help with the kids, the dog, etc we can relax. We then realize how...
  24. If you drink a whole bottle or more of wine, Celiac or not, you are going to feel really really bad! Sometimes for days. Some people black out and don't remember what they have done. It's not the wine, it's way too much wine. Now red wine has things in it that bother people, but that happens with just one glass. Tannins, sulphites...
  25. A good chef must be passionate about his food! Maybe Chuck Norris can set him straight! Now that would be a good food fight!
