  1. Don't pick Kansas! I know it's in the middle of the US but I want to go somewhere fun! Bev just got back from Belize & it looked great! Let's go there! My oldest had those shoes on Ptaum's feet. They made his size 12s look larger. They were huge shoes.
  2. I have been making the Betty Crocker or gluten-free Pantry mixes. My hub keeps saying they are the best brownies he's ever had. They are more fudgey than cakey which is how he likes them I made a batch in a 9x13 pan with parchment paper on the bottom. Use the paper to lift them onto a cutting board. Cut them with a serrated or plastic knife. I spread...
  3. You need to look at dates on this forum. That article is 15 years old. You might find more up to date info? Test may have changed? Maybe someone who knows about the current testing could comment but the usual wisdom is that if a test for Celiac is positive, you have Celiac.
  4. You know you have Celiac when....... Everyone is so excited you are having a normal " crappy" period!
  5. We love "Simona Recipes" at our house!
  6. The title "Salami cupcakes" sounded awful... But this sounds good. I might try to make 1 or 2 for breeakfast.
  7. here's an article about movie popcorn. I have seen other articles like this. It seems it's safe unless they somehow get hotdog bun in it. Open Original Shared Link
  8. Q: Are some groups at an even greater risk for celiac disease? Yes. Among ethnic groups the highest prevalence is in a North African refugee population, followed by Ireland. Within populations of European origins the groups with increased risk include family members of patients with celiac disease, patients with autoimmune diseases such as Type 1 diabetes...
  9. I was hoping that if we could find you some fun things to eat, you might perk up. Have you tried goat cheese? Feta is delicious on salad or melted on pizza or a sandwich. The article says that it might be easier to digest.
  10. This cookies have almost tripped me up, too. I think its quite common for a headache to cause nausea so if the gluten gives you a headache then you might get nausea & vomitting.
  11. Popcorn should be gluten-free. But I don't eat the Target ones because they have the gloves that they get hot dog buns, etc out with and put them in the popcorn. However, if you are newly diagnosed, popcorn can be very harsh and scratchy on the unhealed gut. I used to get bloating & gas from it until I had been gluten-free for several months.
  12. Does the milk bother you for cetain? Maybe you could add some back in. I think some of the cheeses like cheddar have little to no lactose. This seems reasonable and agrees with what I have heard before: Open Original Shared Link
  13. Are you going to wear contacts most of the time? You can get cheap reading glasses many places. I got cute purple ones at the Dollar store. When I wear my glasses, I read under them or take them off if I'm going to read a bunch. I don't need the reading help for my bare naked eyes, just when corrected for distance. You can get cheaper glasses at...
  14. Check out this thread about which soy sauces you can have.
  15. Actually, most, if not all movie theater popcorn and fake butter is gluten-free. What's in the fake butter might be scary. Open Original Shared Link Also, in the US you can't " hide" wheat. It must be declared in the ingredients. It's really not that sneaky.
  16. We use the San-J. They have gluten-free flavored sauces, too. I put the Teryaki on green beans after I just boil them. My family gobbles them up.
  17. I'm so sorry. This may help or you may just send the guys in the white coats for me. I really haven't said this to anyone but my hub. I had 2 early miscarriages that I knew of. The kind where you say " oh! I'm pregnant. Let me stop the caffiene.". When I miscarried, it was just a strong period. But each time I felt it was a boy and the same person...
  18. I think if they put barley malt in it as a sweetener, they would proudly list in the ingredients. Barley is a more expensive sweetener than corn syrup so companies like to brag about it.
  19. Did you guys ever try this recipe? It's a lot like a noodless lasagna. I only used 1 I'll of fresh spinach and next time will add a little Italian sausage either to the dumpling or the sauce. I didn't use the white besciamella & I used jarred Newmans Marinara. But this won't work for Julie, it needs the eggs to hold it together.
  20. I make my sauce and add an extra cup of water at the end. I think I only use 3 layers of noodles instead of 4 but with the same amount of cheese. My mom has given the recipe away to charity cookbooks so I will post it here. But probably tomorrow. Ifi forget, someone PM me. :)
  21. My eye doc said some of the contacts can give you the halo at night. I notice it when I drive. Not sure if that is part of your problem. My eye doc is actually an optician not an MD. But she says she has several patients with Celiac. They all have dry eyes which cause problems with contacts
  22. I'm just trying to point out that you are just starting, so lots of body parts might be messed up. It will be hard if hub won't go along with you.
  23. Someone I know suspected her diabetic kids had Celiac. She was going to " cut down on gluten" so they got potato bread!
  24. Sooooo...How have you been? It's been awhile and I actually missed your dry sense of humor...LOL!Hows the weather out there...any thing interesting happen since thanks giving..LOL!Missed you! Cougie :)
