ARCHIVED Is This What Being Glutened Feels Like?
kareng replied to aroche84's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Ken's is good! I get those dressings. I feel the need to say that everything is not about gluten. Its possible it's something else like food poisionimg or a stomach virus or???? Wait.....wait... I just read back....did you say a salad was "brought" to you? Who knows where those salad ingredients were before they reached you. Also all sodas are... -

Have you had your thyroid checked recently? Insist on that if you haven't. Weight gain, thinning hair & fatigue are symptoms of thyroid issues. Other things, too. So go to the doctor. -

kareng replied to wheatlessAK's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Www.unforked.com There is one in Overland Park & I have heard they are opening one by Zona Rosa on Barry RD. They told me to tell the server that I want gluten-free because of illness & they will be extra careful. I haven't been yet but several gluten-free families have & like it. -
ARCHIVED Lay's Potato Chips And Yeast Extract
kareng replied to JessB's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Found lots of web site telling the evils of MSG but I don't know how reliable they are. This seems to be a site promoting MSG use in foods. The glutamate-rich additives seem to be not exactly MSG but a close relative. Just because it sounds a bit like gluten it is not. ARCHIVED Lay's Potato Chips And Yeast Extract
kareng replied to JessB's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think yeast extract is gluten free. However, someone has told me it is another name for MSG or something similar. We should probably look that up. MSG is gluten free but lots of people who happily eat wheat can't handle the MSG. -

I probably said way too much. After intensive snooping, I found out that they went on to a better place. The better place does not have Pearly Gates, just normal cow pasture gates. We know my mom's great grandpas came from Germany right before the civil war. They fought for the north. There wives came over around that time. My Dad's moms side is... -

ARCHIVED Can Pain Paills, Percacet Mimic Celiac Symptoms?
kareng replied to mommyto2kids's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Pain pills can make you constipated. Your post is very poorly written and typed. Not your usual posting style. Maybe the pills are too much. Or try another type? I get really messed up be some of the pain killers and can't see straight. I hope you take that the way it was intended. Not meant to make you mad. But I'll take the chance of making you... -

ARCHIVED Toaster Bags
kareng replied to mbrookes's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Got to the upper right corner and google toaster bags. We have had lots of discussions. Also, you can google them on tzhe web. They work great. Get the Toast-it ones. Tose cover the bread completely. Some of them are only half a bag. There was recently ( last 2 weeks) a post with directions to make your own. -
ARCHIVED Need A Good gluten-free Dessert For This Weekend...
kareng replied to gem75's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
these are good. Gluten eaters will like them. If you are going to share any food, take yours first. Or easier, just bring a separate portion for yourself that you keep away from gluteny fingers and crumbs. -

I think he has a couple of dehydrated backpack dinners he could throw in. Hub's dad called yesterday. No one has spoken to him since January. Hub sends emails and he usually doesn't get a response. If he get one it's sort of " looks like your busy. Here's the wonderful vacation we just went on". When I answered, I almost said, " I thought you had... -

Can you image? They show up at the door. M answers. They insist they must stay here. M sets them up a tent in the backyard. Put a fire in the fire ring so they can cook. Brings them out a pot with water & ramen noodles. He had to cook them all week at day camp. -

They would need a boat to get there! Would be the perfect place to hide. 104 F! Feels like 113 at the 6:00 news. You could come here. Give them the address, directions & a map. Then send them the weather report. They won't come here either. -

Here's a few places to start. These are the main gluten-free bakers in town. I would email them. Even if they don't do wedding cakes they may know who does. ARCHIVED Restaurants In Kansas City

Minksy's has had training and been certified. You will find that just because they have a gluten-free menu, doesn't mean the food is really gluten-free. For example: Appleby's has one. They list the French fries. However, at the bottom they mention that they fry the fries in the same oil with the gluten breaded onion rings, moz sticks, green beans, etc... -
ARCHIVED Word Of Caution At Pf Changs
kareng replied to CaraLouise's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I have been going to Pei Wei. They are the faster food version of PF Changs. They only have a few gluten-free items but they are good. They bring them out to your table special. No one who works there or PF Changs acts like they don't know what you are talking about. My hub likes to go. I can get a glass of wine, he gets a beer.
