  1. Yep! Max! J still calls him Sparky or Rocky. But not where the little girl can hear. It is better than Prince Charming Fluffy Snowball.
  2. Don't leave us in suspense! What are they called? Where did you find them? You look like that in a bikini & & expect us to believe you eat ice cream?
  3. You & the family will get into a groove and it will get easier. Tonight's dinner was completely gluten-free for all. I threw some boneless chicken breasts in the bottom of the crockpot. Topped it with frozen corn, canned black beans, Rotel tomatoes. I made some rice. Hub & I had it over rice. 15 yr old has his and scooped it with half a bag...
  4. I do OK with some artificial sugars. The ones they put in candy, not the sucralose, give me horrible stomach pains. My 18 yr old who has problems with aspartame ( stomach pains) in diet sodas is fine with the sugar alcohol in the sugar free chocolates& jelly beans. My 15 yr old can eat almost any sweetener, but a lot of high fructose corn syrup on...
  5. My BIL runs marathons. The recommended drink after exercise is chocolate milk. I know even non-fat milk &/ or chocolate have a good effect on my oldest boy. He plans to stock his dorm fridge with choco milk & Mt dew. If you can digest it, it sounds like a pretty safe upper. That's great Sky! I'm going to tell him he doesn't need drugs...
  6. Lo- hope Tony is OK. At least he is in good mom hands. For something silly; My dog Cooper is a 75 lb lab. The little girl who lives behind us just got a little white fluffy puppy, Max. He's about 10 weeks. He fits thru the fence. He loves Cooper & Cooper loves him. I wish I could get a picture but they don't stay still. Max will see Coop...
  7. If the food has any dampness, wheat flour wouldn't work. Think about what happens to it when you try to wipe it off the counter with a wet sponge. It glumps up ( technical term ) & makes a sticky mess. What companies have told you they did that? Or articles?
  8. Sounds like it was a good idea. Hope you are feeling OK.
  9. I got a postcard from the Celiac Disease Center at the Univ of Chicago. Its for the free screening they do in October. whats interesting is it says you must be on a gluten containing diet for 12 weeks prior to testing. Doesn't say how much gluten.
  10. Don't know how its made! But at least the turpentine is gluten-free!
  11. GLuten is really unlikely. But soda have things like high fructose corn syrup that is hard to digest for many people - even non Celiacs. Try a soda with actual sugar & see how you do. That's where I would start.
  12. Great idea. I'll bring the rubber gloves, bleach and some signs for Jess & I to hold up. " Kick butt, Rachelle" "Boo!" etc
  13. I know you wouldn't let him keep them. I just meant that adults treating others like that isn't something kids should be around. It can be confusing to kids. When my boys were about 5, the urge to protect Mom & other girls started to kick in. Your dad would have had a karate kick to the groin for yelling at you. I suppose the family keeps hoping...
  14. Use the Google search in the upper right corner. You will see lots of discussions on this that might be helpful. Just keep a eye on the dates. People who posted 5 years ago likely are not still reading along.
  15. Wow! Even if the accommodations had been great, this was a horrible trip. Just curious, why does anyone invite you dad? Sounds like everyone would be happier without him there. Not sure he should be around children.
  16. I think gin is made from juniper berries not anything resembling wheat. At least it used to be.
  17. The one I bought might be a bigger version. It has a 3 inch blade. Don't want him kicked out of school for a weapon! My Gawd, Rachelle! We should have sent GFM's inlaws to your vacation & your family could have helped her move and enjoyed the area.
  18. GFM it sounds like you have nice neighbors. That is always helpful. I think the heat is getting to me! This is what I did: J is getting ready for college. He really likes to get a hunk of Kraft cheese and apples & cut them to eat. So he wanted a paring knife for the dorm. Not sure if they are really allowed but seemed like a good idea to...
  19. There are gluten-free freeze dried camper meals. I know my son had some on his backpacking/canoeing trip. Chicken & rice and the green beans were good. He isn't gluten-free, some of th items just happened to be. Not sure what company they are from. If someone is interested, I could give them the outfitter's email. Not sure the availability in...
  20. My son's football coach said the best way to put on muscle he had seen was work out with weights. Then go home and have a glass of milk and a PB sandwich or two.
  21. I like to get the mainstream stuff that's gluten-free, too. I would put them in boxes or paper grocery bags with full sized white sheets of paper that say gluten free. You might want to even label each box, jar, carton, with a piece of white paper. This helps with the mainstream items. I also think we are teaching the food pantry what main stream things...
  22. My mom was a taste tester years ago ( about 30) when McDs wanted to change from the beef fat version of fries. She said everyone liked the new version and they seemed pleased about it. This was a time when veggie oils were considered healthier and cheaper and better shelf life. That's why they put flavoring on them during the first " cooking". I haven...
  23. I don't know how Costco does it. The local grocery " sample ladies" are hired by an agency that demos food items at various places. The agency is hired by a food company to show off a product. The sample pushers are told what to fix & how to present the items. Not used if the food company or the agency tells them. You might want to let the manufacturer...
  24. I never eat samples because I worry about all the other people putting thier hands on or around my sample. Sometimes they are demonstrating 2 diffferent products & one had gluten. I shouldn't say never. When HyVee does the gluten-free sample day, I skip breakfast.
  25. I thought I should just mention, for those wishing to donate gluten-free food - make sure they know what it is & will keep it separate. I emailed a BIG pantry here & they couldn't be bothered. I found another that is smaller & works with the families to help with multiple issues. You can always donate Chex cereals to any food pantry &...
