  1. Google "Celiac support groups" or some combination. I found this one. Not sure if the info is up to date or if any are close to you. There are a couple of websites that list them i have found when googling. Open Original Shared Link
  2. It would have to be more than $150 but I've got a kid going to an out of state college. And it has to be something really tasty!
  3. They actually washed the bag? Never seen that.
  4. Going to the Ozarks for a few days. I think my experience will be a lot less Hillbilly than Rachelle's vacation.
  5. If its still a Con-Agra product, they will clearly list all gluten even barley. The can will say Con-Agra in little print. or you could check the website to see if it is still one of thier products. The info on this thread is very old in "Product Time".
  6. Not something you hear everyday!
  7. In the US, I don't think they have to say same facility or even equipment. I would think it unlikely that a place that makes milk would make anything with gluten, Maybe they make chocolate malt flavored milk?
  8. I was hoping Thomas Keller would make the mix for me!
  9. For $18.95 or $19.95 Williams Sonoma has 3 gluten-free mixes. Might be a nice present for someone but I don't see myself feeding teenage boys these. Would need 6 boxes. Open Original Shared Link
  10. Nut butters - peanut, sunflower, almond. Add olive oil to things. A drizzle on some on cooked or raw veggies for example. Cut up cheese and keep it in a baggie in the fridge for easy snacking. I would be happy to donate 20 pounds to your cause.
  11. You can read ingredients on line. I don't think they make any gluten-free claims.
  12. I love York mints. Cold from the fridge. I haven't read the ingredients on the little bits or pieces.
  13. I don't know I would be able to get the crumbs out of the cracks. What if you put the cookies in a ziplock and then in the can. Then you can put out the pretty cans and "use" them. Or wrapped candies?
  14. If there was an enzyme that protected people from cancer - only Celiacs would get cancer & researchers would be frantically trying to duplicate it. It would be all over the news. Celiac isn't about a lack of enzymes, its autoimmune. Ask her for her source. Read the source. Beware her source, if she can provide one. It will not be a reliable &...
  15. The real question is...why was Nik Spending time looking for this video?
  16. I usually get Bertolli. Ones made in Italy. They only make olive oils, not other oils.
  17. Just curious ....what do these oil factories produce that would have gluten? Are there factories in Italy that get large amounts of wheat and try to process wheat germ oil? Most factories only have one kind of machinery. They might process other oils but they certainly don't bake things or make noodles on those machines.
  18. No! Really! Those places at the waters edge with boats - wharfs - are made of wheat! My iPad has a mind of its own.
  19. Looks like a great find!
  20. Of course, it's possible to have a problem with rice, or bananas or strawberries or any food. I don't know how long you have been gluten-free, but it can take months to normalize bathroom issues. Even if it's not something you are eating, you have to get the right amount of fiber. Sometimes the good bacteria is out of whack. You could try some probiotics...
  21. Cook it thoroughly is the message that keeps coming out of this recall notice. I think making turkey burgers or meatloafs would be the hardest to make sure it's cooked well. Use a meat thermometer. I usually cook mine crumbled for things like chili so I know it's cooked well ( no big clump with a slightly raw inside).
  22. my now 15 yr old gets faint when he gets more than the pin prick. My SIL draws blood for her job. She said a lot of boys, especially in the summer, may be a bit dehydrated. That makes it worse. Make sure he has an extra glass of water or juice everyday until the test. Don't make a fuss about the blood draw or even mention feeling faint. Take a big sucker...
  23. All the varieties of rice ( white, brown, purple, wild rice, glutinous rice (sweet), etc are gluten free. They have nothing to do with wheat, rye or barley. They are a grain & wharf is a grain - so maybe thats what she's thinking.
  24. No one has posted because we don't know. Call the company. Get on their website & get an email address. Even if someone told they were or not, you then have to decide if the poster is reliable.
  25. You did what you could. Even if they had given her the B12, I don't think it would have made a difference. After all those years gluten-free, she may not have needed such massive doses anymore. Its hard to see your parents like this. My hub had to deal with his mom for years with her mental illness. There is only so much you can do. They have to...
