  1. My boys are not gluten-free but some of these are the same problems all kids have. Try shelled sunflower and pumpkin seeds. Salty makes them more yummy to a kid. Hidden meat might work. Tiny tiny bits of ground beef or turkey hidden in spaghetti sauce, under pizza cheese, etc. Shredded carrots, frozen corn or peas still frozen. Black beans better than...
  2. Glutenateor (gluten Terminator) - my 14 yr old son who checks the small ingredients on stuff for me and makes sure no gluten passes my lips. Also, eats gluten-free menu at PF Changs so we can share Gluteodor - the smell of donuts and bakeries
  3. Saw a girl (tourist not employee) at Disney with a really pretty color of purple hair.
  4. It wasn't that special. The fact that I could eat almost anywhere and anything was special.H
  5. Youse guys are pitiful! I have caught up in like 3 minutes! Jess - You look mahrvahlous! I can see the meeting of you & Gnick now..... You can't leave Security and she can't get in without a ticket. You meet at a plexiglass divider thingy. Look at each other whilst talking on your cell phones to each other.
  6. Back from the abyss. Must catch up. California should not have been an abyss but the iPad decided it didn't like the WiFi device Hub brought (that it uses sometimes at home). Hub forgot the charger for his work computer (Freudian slip?) so we couldn't use it. Hotel didn't have WiFi. No time to find a Starbucks and sit. Was very fun. Great to go...
  7. Not sure they will let me bring a full meal or 2. Thougt I could bring some nuts & bars. It may be a ice cream bar and M&M / Snickers kind of day. . The guys will have to get food. I'll let everyone know how it goes. I don't trust that they can make gluten-free when super busy.
  8. Thanks. Not sure if they will let me bring food in but I'm sure I could sneak in something.
  9. No it doesn't. Why do you say that? The Celiac Center at the u of Chicago sent me some in a basket of gluten-free stuff.
  10. Bev- What was this ? Psilly tooth day? J had to have 3 teeth filled. They gave him happy gas. He has never had it before. His mellow bro had it and was great. Should have known. They had to keep waking him up because he kept hallucinating and fighting them. He's 6 foot tall and 170 lbs of muscle. They had to numb up his mouth extra. Good thing...
  11. You could have your 20 or so sisters on this site talk to her. Ok, maybe not. I think you might have to talk about the lipstick issue. Some lipsticks have wheat in them. Like an allergy. If you were allergic to peanuts, she wouldn't wear lipstick with peanut oil. However, young man, no sharing pillows until your married!
  12. Going to the LA area & will do 1 day at Disney but the boys would rather do Universal Studios. Nothing on the website about gluten-free food. Called and the lady said everyplace with food can help you. Either they are all really well trained or completely clueless. Has anyone been to either Univ Studio?
  13. I'm here just don't have anything funny or even interesting. Trying to get ready to go to Anaheim Tomorrow. At this rate, I don't have to worry that I will miss much while I'm gone.
  14. Does she smile and touch your arm when she says, " ( giggle) . Oh Jason, you're so weird!"? If so, substitute "cute" for "weird".
  15. My teens wouldn't dare call and demand for fast food. We just have never done things that way. I do get them some occasionally. I try to keep a few things that are easy for them to get for themselves if they can't wait until I get back. You and your husband might just agree on fast food once a week that you will pay for (16 can buy her own out with friends...
  16. I wish I had known before you went. That one messed up regular orders that aren't gluten-free so I would not expect them to handle special requests well.
  17. It is at the Target here in Kansas city. Also, see if your grocery sells "Mexican" CocaCola. Ours sell it by individual glass bottles. Pricey this way but if you just want one occasionally it's OK.
  18. When you get back to school talk to the counselor and the nurse. They might help you with your parents. If you have been this sick, it is their responsibility to get you help. Going to a hospital and explaining all this may be your last resort as they will have to get you a temporary guardian if your parents continue to refuse to treat you. Go during...
  19. OK, everyone. I finally got my furniture today! My next job is to get us all ready and on the plane Friday to LA. While making sure the youngest gets to his summer camp job and the older gets to the football practices. I think I will tell people I take on different projects or something like that.

    ARCHIVED Spain!

Friday I'm going to Anaheim..... OK not as good as Hawaii or Spain! But its the most I could get out them.
  21. I know a lot of people have problems with high fructose corn syrup. Pepsi is doing " throw back" pop made with " real sugar!". Pepsi, Mt Dew and Dr Pepper. Disclaimer: Yes, I know that they still aren't good for you. Not suggesting you drink these unless you have searched your inner most being and decided that these products are right for you.
  22. I know someone that has been a Celiac since childhood. She seems to think its OK to eat little bits. We had a kids sports banquet & I knew we were having pasta. I made some gluten-free cookies & some pasta at home with gluten-free chicken Ital sausage and melted Moz, Asiago, parm & romano on top and brought it in a container that keeps it hot...
  23. I have been thinking this, too. Choosing to cross pollinate plants to get a better product has been done for centuries. The pink petunia(?) that we all learned about in grade school that was made by crossing a red and a white flower is an example. I know not all of these selective breeding have worked well. For example, Dalmatians are prone to deafness...

    ARCHIVED Go Ask Connie

You are a wise woman, Lucia. I stopped vacuuming with the big vacuum many years ago. I do like this thing that is like a Dust Buster on a stick for the hard wood floors.. In fact, I hate vacuuming so much, I ripped out the carpeting in 2 rooms and the stairway. Also, kids can vacuum well by 6or 7. Got to keep those grankids busy, Connie!
  25. Oh Raven! How sad but also, wonderful to have had her. Sounds like you have lots of happy memories.
