  1. Check the mixer. Little bits of flour get in all the cracks. I found that cheap white vinegar dissolves it pretty well. If you can't get in the cracks just keep flushing with the vinegar and water. If it's really old, might have to break down and get a new one.
  2. Connie, the cake recipe is on this thread back 3 weeks or so. The Caramel icing recipe is a family secret I have been told I can't divulge.
  3. What if you completelly enclosed this baby gate. Maybe tack some screen or chicken wire on it and a bit above. Just until Rascally Riley gets over the habit. Also, maybe you could plant them some grass in a pot or cardboard box. Good luck. You may have met your match.
  4. How'd the Open House go? Anyone besides the neighbors come by? If you don't sell, does the company buy the house? Or are you stuck in TX for the duration? I hate selling houses. I think I'll stay in this house forever. Then the kids will have to deal with it.
  5. Our wine holder person is next to the communion wafer person. I follow my row up and when the person in front of me is getting the wafer, I pop over to the wine. I talked to a friend that is a E. Minister & he said they won't think its odd. Maybe your priest could explain to them about skipping the host. Or after mass, tell a couple of them what's...
  6. Me neither. As a result, I don't have anything interesting to talk about.
  7. Where is everyone today? What you got jobs, a life? I've been out to buy my cherry tomatoes.
  8. Probably. If you "set" it in the sun, it brews faster then just sitting on the counter.
  9. Its not hot caffiene. Some people have a problem with brewed beverages like tea & coffee. Some types of tea might be OK for you. Maybe the sweet tea was instant or not as strong. I think I have always done better with "sun tea" iced tea but I think its not as strong. Having some now.
  10. I think that the store should follow Health Department guidelines and utensils and cutting surfaces should be clean. But, I think we all know that mistakes or laziness happens sometimes. One grocery I go to cuts the fruit and veggies on a table behind the salad bar. I have never seen them cut anything else on that table. Its across the store from prepared...
  11. I live in Kansas. We have tornado parties - pack up snacks, drinks, pillows & head to the basement.Last tornado season, the weather station was tracking one that stayed up in the clouds. It was directly over one of the boys friend's house & they were texting each other about it.
  12. Patti! Run and hide it the bathroom or the closet under the stairs! (That message brought to you by my dog.)
  13. The point of getting rid of the non-stick or plastic is that they get scratches that might harbor crumbs and germs. Also, once the non-stick has scratches, little bits of teflon are flaking off into your food. You can find a lot of info on the web about that. I can't believe the people who were actually diagnosed as Celiac who I see still eating gluten...
  14. I think we have hit on the perfect way to bring up kids ...send them to Patti!
  15. I'm clever in any time zone! When we were kids, we got the locally grown giagantic watermelons. Cut them in 5 chunks (1 for each person) & eat that huge piece at one sitting. I'm sure there must have been some bathroom reprecussions but I don't remember. So M, the 14 year old, is working on his Boy Scout badge "Family Life". He had to discuss...
  16. I always wonder how I can wear the same size I did in High School and was 20 pounds lighter? I think one of the rules of dieting is that if its healthy, the calories don't count. My boys do thier laundry of they have nothing to wear. Got tired of at 10 pm " Mom! I have to wear that shirt tomorrow!"
  17. Sooo behind... Very cute! When bunnies and cats get together, its rarely a good outcome in my experience. You can have some of our rain. Ugh! Sorry Skeeter's appointment was a let down. "Not sick enough." Birding sounds fun! Looked around my house & most of my paintings...
  18. Car accidents, too. All the distracted drivers eating fast food sandwiches and fried chicken! Lol
  19. We have been doing this about 4 months. It takes time to find the easiest solution for all. I found a counter to put their toaster, bread, etc in and on. This keeps the crumbs contained to that area and the table. You can still clean up the crumbs for now, as that is easier. Just wash up after. I like to clean up because then I know it's clean. The...
  20. Hee hee! How's the new job? Do they appreciate your colorful shirts?
  21. This was a gluten-free day at our house! M had to do a family project for scouts so he and I made 2 kinds of gluten-free pizza crusts. We hadn't tried to yet. We made Chebe and gluten-free Pantry. Both came out good. We have ways to improve them next time. We just had the ice cream - Turtle Tracks and PB chocolate. Very yummy. Boys didn't like the...
  22. This is tough. My hub has very little human biology knowledge and I have a degree so he has always deferred to me about medical stuff. But, so that he would understand the importance, I told him about studies that were summarized here, that explain increase risk of cancers and death. Also, after a few weeks of iron, gluten-free, B12, etc I had much more...
  23. Mission Update: Purely Decadent cocnut ice cream has been located and procured.
  24. LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! The color & the curls! Rent a really good tile saw. We did a backsplash with a hand cutter. Hubs hand almost didn't recover. Haven't seen that show in years. My father stills watches it. When my brother got married about 20 years ago, his wife made him a coat like the Dr Who at that time wore as his wedding...
  25. Good, high quality dark chocolate reacts in; your brain and can help you feel better. My first 2weeks, I had a headache and was depressed. The chocolate helped. Also, find little things to be happy about, like your flowers growing better then expected or that gluten-free pretzels are really good with almond butter..
