  1. What does the packaging say? Ingredients? May contain statement?
  2. About 6 months after diagnosis, you should get a re- test of your antibodies. Then every year after. That would tell you something. Also, you may want to stop the gluten baking. That flour goes everywhere and can take a day to settle. Some people have symptoms they didn't realize we're connected to gluten. It isn't all " stomach" issues. Migraines...
  3. Read ingredients, just in case. Some of the smaller companies seem to miss barley malt. The bigger companies or completely gluten-free companies ( like Glutinos or Schar) usually will do a good job. The real problems I have seen are small or local companies. Like the guy that sells at the farmers market or some start up " healthy" company that seems to...
  4. This myth that something supposedly safe will gluten you is just a bunch of fear mongering. Like any other food, there are occasional recalls on labelled gluten-free foods, but usually it's not for gluten. If you are really worried that companies are somehow slipping gluten in foods that are certified gluten-free or have no reason to have gluten, only...
  5. Open Original Shared Link It’s best to continue a normal, gluten-containing diet before being screened and diagnosed. If a gluten-free diet has been followed for more than a few weeks, then we recommend eating at least 1 serving of gluten (1/2 slice of bread or a cracker, for example) every day for 12 weeks prior to a blood test and 2 weeks p...
  6. They often put stains on samples to help them see things. It's why, if you look for a picture of intestinal villi, they are often purple. They aren't really purple in real life. It won't help, if you have been gluten-free for years or even months, to find damage that has healed. That's just stupid. Edit - it's a stupid thing for a doctor to...
  7. We have a few people on here from Australia but some products might be the same as in the US or Canada? You might want to check and see if there is an Australian forum or Facebook page for food intolerances or allergies.
  8. My son, not a Celiac, always has nausea, diarrhea, etc with antibiotics. He was a mess when he had septicemia and was on high doses of 2 different ones. I think that may be normal. Not pleasant..... But normal.
  9. Open Original Shared Link "Eating any gluten, no matter how small an amount, can damage the small intestine. This is true for anyone with the disease, including people who do not have noticeable symptoms. Antibody levels take a long time (sometimes more than a year) to normalize after a person has stopped eating gluten."
  10. Any food with gluten is to be avoided, even if you don't think you feel any symptoms. Those are the " problem" foods. Some people don't have especially noticeable symptoms from a one time small amount of gluten. But, if you keep eating gluten, it will damage you.
  11. You healed the damage and then it took a while to get enough damage that you felt it was bad enough to notice
  12. I would go back to the doc and really question the trust results. A 61 on a celiac antibody test is usually extremely positive. You should get the test results and look for yourself.
  13. There is no real science behind the blood type diet. It really makes no sense. But you can do it for fun, if you want. Open Original Shared Link
  14. Never heard of it. I would just make sure it wasn't a "malted" beverage. Any distilled beverage is gluten-free as gluten particles are too large to can't get into them.
  15. They were labeling some of the M&Ms gluten-free. They have a good allergy policy/protocol. I believe they said that special runs - like Christmas colors, for instance, might not be gluten-free as they are run on different machinery with other special flavors. This is in the US.
  16. Wheat Allergy Alert: GHSE, LLC (Trader Joe's) GHSE, LLC, a Green Cove Springs, Fla. establishment, is recalling approximately 5,682 pounds of salad products containing chicken due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen. The product contains wheat, a known allergen not declared on the product label. ...
  17. Maybe never. Not sure if Canada would allow them? So far, here in the US, they haven't been consistently gluten-free.
  18. About 30% of people have a gene for Celiac. They don't all have it because only about 1% of the population has Celiac. It is quite possible she has something else that is causing her trouble. Sometimes eliminating gluten helps that problem, like FODMAPS. If it were me, I would keep her strictly gluten-free for a year or so. See if anything...
  19. But why is that important to Celiac. Com? And there are more than one video and people who have seen her. But why is her bakery problems on here? the same thing has happened to other gluten-free baking company and we didn't report on it several times. Is it just because JE is an actress?
  20. Wasn't this some gossip rag nonsense from a few weeks back? I think it's been proven false. But, even so, why is celebrity gossip from unreliable sources here? And I can't leave a comment on the actual article, because he approves and often edits the comment.
  21. Maybe check if they have any local gluten free/ Celiac Facebook groups? Someone just posted on ours for this same thing and got some responses.
  22. Maybe not true for you....but that doesn't mean all Celiacs can't eat it. Does it?
  23. Maybe minis are a bit different?
  24. I am guessing he didn't get tested for celiac before going gluten free? Honestly, you still don't know what his problem is. I would push doctors to figure out what his real issue is.
  25. I have bought them and they are labelled gluten-free. I have gotten the little cut up squares and the shredded kind. I am am in the US, so it could be different in another country.
