  1. We had all ours chipped. They were indoor but you never know what's going to happen! It was nice to know that if they were found we would know ASAP!
  2. Was this a chiropractor or alternative med Dr who ordered these? IgA and IgG do not measure anything really for an allergy. Allergies that cause anaphylactic reactions are IgE mediated. Those others don't indicate an allergy and there is no testing for intolerance.
  3. Just as notme said, it is much easier for those with more extensive lists to do it this way. So while a printed out one would perhaps be great for one person, the iPad takes into account all the people with varying lists (we are peanut, tree nuts, dairy, eggs and gluten- I wouldn't expect to have a list based on that!) Again, calling and mentioning to...
  4. I see. I have never seen plastic plates at our so I was confused. Yes, I can see wanting a liner for that.
  5. A rash does not equal an allergy. It could be but pumpkin is very very rarely an allergen. If you can tolerate seeds and pumpkin, there isn't anything in the oil protein wise that would be any different. Could be the way it is processed or the weather or something else. Also if it's equal bilaterally it could be eczema as well.
  6. Do you eat at other restaurants? All the baskets are washed the same way and they need to be cleaned and sanitized up to health code. That would mean that they are clean for use. I have never gotten a basket without paper in our visits either so that seems strange. FWIW, they got rid of the yellow allergy baskets and it was suppose to be an across...
  7. I believe the iPads are the way they are doing it now and have been for some time. You check off what items you can't have and the menu is tailored to that which is generally easier because it is up to date and it reduced the price of printing it off every month. Red Robin is one of the few places we go to on a regular basis as a family due to my kids...
  8. I think if you plan on doing the biopsy to continue eating gluten. If it is something premade (bread, crackers) then you can safely eat it till you get to the GI and figure out what they want to do. Even if you take a prepackaged snack and sit outside to eat it once a day. Good luck!
  9. Oh Mom!!! It is not in your head. Again, I can completely understand your frustration! If his thyroid issue is under control with meds, that wouldn't be something I would be worried about but the others may be worth a look into. My DS also has thyroid issues (and food allergies as well). We've taken our kiddo to the best of the best and not gotten any...
  10. There are times they just don't go to normal. It sucks and it's so frustrating but if you have locked things down as you have said then they should go down more or it may just be how his body is. We've been in that situation for years now. Again, very frustrating (and my kiddo is only 8 so I KNOW he isn't getting anything anywhere else!) Hugs.
  11. Do not compare apples to oranges here Sunny. They aren't even close to the same thing.
  12. You need to find out who your schools 504 coordinator is and send a WRITTEN request for a 504 evaluation. At that time I would get a letter from your child's GI about what life functions are affected. You should also get a list of accommodations you are hoping to have when you go in for the meeting because sometimes they go right from determining eligibility...
  13. I hope you have Epi pens and I most certainly hope you don't keep playing life threatening games with foods like this. If you are so careful with your gluten intake, perhaps taking as much care with allergens (with the knowledge that reactions can and often do progress from one to the other most times getting worse) would help you out too. Perhaps you should...
  14. My DS takes Mylan brand for several years with no issues. I always call the pharmacy and ask them for that specific brand to be sure that's what we get for him. I have called several times on it (when changing dosages and just checking up). I was told by our Endo just last week that Synthroid is not gluten-free but I don't know if it was they won't guarantee...
  15. No such animal exists AFAIK. I've looked and had many friends look and no one has ever found them.
  16. The thing with having a 504 is that it LEGALLY covers you AND the school. I have heard many times about "they were accommodating till they weren't" and that's when the trouble starts I am glad it is working for you! Another thing people like having them for is when the kids get to college and need something bigger like permission to live not in a dorm...
  17. Schools will want a dx (medically needed I don't think is covered it needs to be an actual dx). How you get that is up to you/your Dr. If they are willing to say "Celiac" based on what you are saying then you have a dx from the Dr. You will need to follow the formal 504 request path and provide them with the necessary paperwork to determine eligibility...
  18. It is not law. They cover different things. The worry is that if (hopefully) the IEP is no longer needed then they will have no protection again whatever the 504 was for.
  19. Wish I could understand why he felt the need to throw the word "allergy" into the article to make things confusing.
  20. If your kiddo is a good eater, they are most likely getting enough protein at meals. It is really surprising how much they really need vs. what we think they need. I would check out the dietary requirements for her before worrying too much about getting more into her. I know when I was looking into these things I was shocked at the actual need! It's much...
  21. I don't know anything about SIBO so I am unsure about the use of probiotics for that specifically. I know with "regular" antibiotics it is suggested to give the pros between the anti's to lessen the issues that are often associated with it. Again, something to ask about if you are interested in using pros. I am sorry this has been so difficult for you...
  22. Do you have the specifics of your Celiac testing? There are several tests in a full Celiac blood panel that should be drawn. That said, with a slightly elevated tTG and a negative biopsy, I would next go to the genetic testing if they have done a full panel already. This will tell you if your genetics line up with Celiac. If that was + I would say it's...
  23. I tell everyone to get tested. I strongly believe DS's genetics come through DH's side....none of them INCLUDING DH will get tested. I don't get it but whatever. It is very very very very hard to get people to listen to even the most loving suggestions. I see so many people who could really improve their quality of life if they would do A,B or C and...
  24. It sounds like they are trying to rule out a lot and once they have figured that out, perhaps you can work on a feeding plan or something. I know when my kiddos were little I would leave out a grazing station. I would fill a muffin tin with several things (carrots, grapes, granola nuggets, power balls) for them to pick up as they run past. I'm sure you...
  25. Are your Dr's worried about your kiddos weight gain? Have they diagnosed him with FTT? If they are not concerned then I would continue to offer whatever it is he will eat more often. There are also formulas that are high calorie if you are worried about weight. Also I have learned that as much as we say "it's not like the other kids" that every kid is...
