  1. Welcome to you! There is a lot to learn at the beginning but I'm sure you will figure it all out! Many people here will suggest you start by getting away from packaged foods for a while to help aid in your healing. Some suggest up to 6 months. Everyone is different thought so you need to do what is right for you. So people are extremely sensitive...
  2. Oh I get this but given the extra time to try and do something, I would go that route over trying to get an ad pulled. Do both is a better approach You should look into those driving schools Get your thrill on! You'll have to hit NH or DE though
  3. Here's the thing, should they ever include ANY medical issues in "funny" commercials? No. If we as a community get up in arms over every mention and we go after people for things like this we are going to look lie crazy people. I think it's important to pick battles. Don't like it, sure sound off about it. Don't spend your money with those companies...
  4. I would bet you eat things that are processed in a facility often. Just because it isn't on the label DOES NOT mean it isn't. Unless you eat nothing but fruits and veggies and meats, I would bet some things you eat are in fact process in the same facility. Many manufacturers use the same lines as well but will go over with you how the clean the lines to...
  5. We mix sunbutter, chocolate chips some butter/coconut oil and melt it down and add Chex. Toss in powdered sugar- allergy/Celiac friendly Muddy Buddies!
  6. If you are going to the GI I would strongly suggest you put her back on gluten till you see them. It will be much more difficult to test accurately otherwise.
  7. There is no known relation between allergies and speech issues unless they were more environmental and causing a lot of ear issues. Food allergies cause more than GI issues so if those were the only issues you were seeing, then it is most likely not an allergy. Perhaps an intolerance but there is no testing for those. It's also only been 10 days. I...
  8. I wasn't suggesting it was a problem for people with Celiac disease in general just that it could be a potential issue why you had issues but as you have added it to other stuff that's not it.
  9. There is typically something added (cornstarch or tapioca starch) to the powdered sugar to keep it from clumping so that may be the issue. There shouldn't be anything like that in the regular sugar. HTH
  10. Per the ADA though, learning DOES NOT need to be impacted. If the kids activities of daily living are impacted, they are eligible for a 504 plan- that's the law. Now how hard you are willing to fight for one is up to you. Some are able to get by with an IHP but legally if the kids ADL's are impacted it's 504 territory. "Eligibility The child who...
  11. It just seems so crazy to me that two of the top Celiac centers can have such differing opinions on things. Very interesting. Thanks!
  12. It sounds like you need both and IEP and 504. A childs learning DOES NOT need to be impacted to qualify for a 504 plan and you are right, it is something that is in place in the hopes that everyone is on the same page. As for what it's good for is child dependent. You should never ask for more accommodations than are absolutely necessary as the longer...
  13. Where have you seen this information? Is there a suggested amount too that has been Dr. approved/suggested?
  14. A lot depends on what her numbers were to begin with. If they were 200 and now they are 100 it's still really high but they are cut in half which is great. One time exposure isn't going to crank numbers up super high so if it is due to exposure, it would be over time and consistent. HTH
  15. EO's are not going to do ANYTHING for an allergic reaction. To suggest so is dangerous.
  16. Will you be staying home with her or will she be going into daycare? (NO judgement but it helps to know). We chose to keep our kids gluten-free at home. My oldest has celiac disease and the though of younger kids making gluten filled messes in his "safe" house wasn't going to happen. When DD was ready to start preschool we gave her very controlled gluten...
  17. Any gene that a person has is there from conception (no matter where it takes place). You do not pass genes on through breastmilk. You could not have "given" them to your kiddo. As stated, Celiac isn't that uncommon so them and you having the genes isn't unusual if you all do.
  18. lol Once you're at it long enough it just is the way it is I'm sure you get that! I think the no egg and gluten-free is the roughest part. Structure is an issue with that combo but we manage as best we can! We are hoping to possibly do an almond challenge because i would love to use that as a milk alternative but we are also on the way to clearing the...
  19. We have several other allergies so we use KA for our gluten-free flours because it's Top 8 free. Not sure how this would work with that combination of flours.
  20. Gluten Free Pizza Crust Serves 4 (4-5 personal pizzas or 1- 12”-14” pizza) 1 ½ cups gluten free flour (King Arthur’s) 1 TBSP. sugar 1 tsp. baking powder2 1 tsp. xanthan gum 1 tsp. salt 1 pack instant yeast ½ cup warm water (105*) 1 tsp. vinegar in ½ cup measure and then filled with hemp* milk to fill. 3 Tbsp. EVOO 1 ½ cups Daiya dairy free chee...
  21. I don't think there are any GoPicnic's that are safe for gluten, soy and corn. Many have corn syrup and a lot have soy in the gluten free varieties. Also, some cherrybrook kitchens have soy lecithin. Many people with soy allergies can do soy oil but not lecithin but you would need to check with your allergist.
  22. That is a LOT to take in at once. How were all these things diagnosed? I am assuming there was a biopsy for the EoE and Celiac Disease? What about the allergy testing? What symptoms were you seeing that lead to testing? Was she eating those foods before with no issues? Corn and soy are difficult and you are going to be cooking a lot. What...
  23. You can typically get things you need through that are prepackaged if you let TSA know. Also, I would be interested in what the laws say. I know the EU is far ahead with much of that stuff but I think you would be hard pressed to file and win.
  24. My kids have separate tooth paste (one eats gluten on occasion out of the house) so I would say yes I would.
  25. You and your kiddo are in my thoughts. I hope you figure things out very soon.
