  1. While there is no corn in the EL chips there is a possibility of cross contact with corn from some of the other ingredients. "Our other products do not contain corn as a direct ingredient, but some ingredients (including applesauce, brown rice flakes, brown rice syrup, chia flour, citric acid, cranberries, date paste, expeller-pressed vegetable oil, buckwheat...
  2. There are no scientific tests for ANY form or level of intolerances. A detailed food long with symptoms check when reintroduced is the only way to determine an intolerance.
  3. They may not test so they are following the new labeling guidelines which is why you don't see gluten-free on the packaging. We use them with no problem.
  4. For those saying they have allergies, I do hope you have Epi pens as they are they FIRST and ONLY way to stop an actual anaphylactic reaction.
  5. If there are things in her diet that bother her, removing them for a time then trying to reintroduce them when she's feeling 100% would be the best way to look for a sensitivity. There are not reliable medical test for intolerances. Many people with Celiac do have issues with dairy and sometimes soy that may rectify after all testing is complete and they...
  6. I am sorry about all this. The first thing you need to do is get to a GI Dr. for testing and a scope. Even with the high numbers, you really should have a "baseline" biopsy and most Dr's are going to insist on it. The bad news is that your daughter needs to be on gluten for that to happen. I am sorry your Dr. wasn't more clear on the appropriate way to...
  7. If it's just one test, I wouldn't get overly crazy, yet. Were the labs done at the same lab by the same company? They didn't change who does the testing or which brand of testing medium they use? I would think it was lab error if you are reasonably certain that he isn't sneaking/getting into anything. I would try and redo the test in maybe 3-6 months and...
  8. This is the only thing that is not correct. There are NO laws (allergy or otherwise) that require the listing of may contains/processed in a facility warnings.
  9. Coconut oil/Cod liver oil and the seeds would put many in the bathroom all weekend depending on amounts. I would not jump to an intolerance. I would think too much too fast. Also, I would be concerned with the nutritionist who suggested all those things with no warning of the GI issues that may happen with there introduction of all that!
  10. Did you see a GI doctor or a chiro? A lot of the things you are talking about are more in line with a holistic practitioner than a GI Dr.
  11. Can you site this research? I'm sure there are some children who fit this but we are speaking of Celiac disease here and kids under 6 months wouldn't have been getting a ton of gluten if any. One of the reasons it is difficult to dx kids is because they don't typically have substantial damage at a young age.
  12. Epi Pen STAT! Seriously, with the things you described you need a set (always carry - ALWAYS!) I hope you get things figured out!
  13. It's becoming more common for children to have 504's for Food Allergies and Celiac disease. I won't say it is common yet but more and more it is happening. A lot parents don't know to ask for one and get IHP's.
  14. Not a lot of information there. I was hoping for something a little more substantial. What's long term? How much? Oral? Inhaled? Does it matter the route they are given?
  15. Do you have a recent article for this? I know this use to be a thing but there hasn't been any new research on this being the case that I have seen (last stuff I saw was some mention of stuff from 20+ years ago). Thanks!
  16. "Of course not, but what if I touch the handle to pour my water, and THEN I touch my gluten-free waffles? I will then CC myself. Why is this so hard for everyone to grasp?" Use a fork. Or wash right before toughing the things you will be eating. My CHILD (read touches everything in sight) has Celiac as well as life threatening allergies...
  17. If you are going to lick the handle or your hands after he touched it, sure. If not, wash and carry on.
  18. He does not consider anything but a positive biopsy as proving Celiac for kids. I don't know his reasoning (and I have TRIED to understand it and talk to him about it but no one can give me a real reason).
  19. You should have her tested. Yes. There is a chance she may test negative now but you should have her tested before removing gluten, absolutely. Why? Because if she's positive you need to know it's a life long, gluten free life. You will need a diagnosis if you need accommodations when she is in school. For any future medications or hospitalizations, you...
  20. I know I have mentioned this about a million times but want to restate, Dr. Fassano DOES NOT feel the 4 of 5 is enough to dx a child.
  21. They have an endorsement from the celiac disease association or something and they test post production to less that 20 PPM which should be fine for most people with Celiac. I found them at our grocery store yesterday and my kids are in love! Haven't had them in the house for 5+ years and they are happy as clams and no complaints.
  22. I don't expect you to agree with their reasoning. These two conditions work in very different ways. If the leading celiac disease specialists and hospitals and manufacturers want to fund another set of guidelines, that's great. These things cost a lot of money. The FDA can't even get it together enough to make manufacturers label for gluten as a top 8...
  23. "There are other types of food-related conditions and diseases that range from the frequent problem of digesting lactose in milk, resulting in gas, bloating, and diarrhea, to reactions caused by cereal grains (celiac disease) that can result in severe malabsorption and a variety of other serious health problems. These conditions and diseases may be serious...
  24. The first article is HATEFUL. It's terribly written and just nasty. And she claims to be a "health coach" who doesn't understand peanut butter isn't exactly "healthy". Bans aren't necessary in MOST cases. But diabetic kids don't need to eat 24/7 to be safe either. That is a ridiculous "reason" and I would argue that with the school.
  25. Don't you have a 504? I would be calling a meeting ASAP about this and address it there! I don't understand this free range BS. No wonder so many of the kids are overweight and pre-diabetic.
