  1. Sean, if you're losing your mind, so am I. I felt amazingly well within 3 days of going gluten free and then after a few more days, my symptoms started again. I've now been gluten free for slightly over 4 months. For me that means daily D. I've checked everything, including meds, replaced a bunch of kitchen stuff (including buying a new toaster), cleaned...
  2. I wonder if the soy is a CYA statement??? How did your biscuits turn out?
  3. It is a Betty Crocker product. I found it last week at Wal-Mart in Waynesboro, PA. I really had to search for it as it was buried on the bottom shelf next to the reduced fat Bisquick. Very minimal shelf space was devoted to it and it was almost sold out. A 16 oz. box was $3.84, which seems rather expensive considering the inexpensive ingredients. It...
  4. They do have a very nice gluten free menu and seem very knowledgeable. My son and DIL took me to our local Outback for my recent birthday and I did have problems afterwards...this was the first time I've eaten out since going gluten free on April 9. Not sure I can blame Outback as I'm sure I ate more than normal, I got ranch dressing on the side for...

    ARCHIVED Suspicious

I'd be cautiously optimistic, on guard, concerned and watch her carefully! (hopefully your FIL got to her)
  6. I'm questioning the short length of time you've been gluten free to be already testing for antibodies and expecting them to drop if you had significant damage at diagnosis. That being said, I really don't know what is recommended although my gastro suggested being retested in 6 months to a year. I'm interested to see what others have to say about this...
  7. If you're not being glutened, you're probably doing something right! Some people do use oven cleaner on the grates of the grill to get them clean (not to be used on the other parts of the grill though)
  8. I have to agree with ravenwoodglass. This forum is the best place to learn about this disease. I've learned more here than anywhere else. Just ask a question and someone will respond who has already been there, done that. Recently I subscribed to Living Without. Just got my second issue. Well worth the money and they have a lot of info and recipes...
  9. Does anyone know if millet will pop? I just happen to have some in the fridge that I haven't even tried yet. I love popcorn but haven't tried it for ages. Last time I liked it but it did not like me.
  10. Thanks! I didn't know that and I do have glutinous rice flour in my pantry!
  11. Clabber Girl is also gluten free (says so on the label)
  12. I think if it's sold here in the U.S., they have to follow our labeling laws. I already put my glutinous rice flour in a container but my spring roll wrappers are clearly labeled rice, water, salt.
  13. Thanks, Kayo! I'll ask my Dr. about the RAST test although I doubt I'll get anywhere. Will be anxious to hear the results of your test...hope it doesn't show up too much. I am going to ask him for a blood test to check for malabsorption since I've had D every day except for a few short days following my EGD on April 9. Well, that is, except today...
  14. I think their prices are excellent. I finally got my order yesterday but haven't had a chance to play around with RiceGuy's recipe yet. Before ordering I did check my small local health food store but they didn't have the items I wanted except for the guar gum, which was $4.99 for 2 oz. Compare that to $2.05 for 8 oz. from Barry Farm which will last a...
  15. I'm looking at a package of Food Lion shredded mozzarella and it has "potato starch, corn starch and calcium sulfate added to prevent caking". Thus far I've never seen a shredded cheese that has gluten added to prevent caking.
  16. I have a doctor's appt. tomorrow afternoon and would like your suggestions. I know I must have other food intolerances since I am still having D every day (mostly a.m.) even though I've been gluten free for 3 months. As far as I know, I am very compliant with the diet and except for being tired and having D, I actually feel pretty good (I know it's still...
  17. I made this Gluten Free Flax Bread yesterday...nothing like baking bread when it's 100
  18. I do believe in cross contamination. I don't have DH but have had enough digestive problems. My feeling is "better safe than sorry". I've lived alone since my husband died in 1999 so can control what's in my kitchen. My dog gets MilkBone and I make sure I wash my hands well after I give her treats at night. I've replaced a lot of things...not everything...
  19. Thanks! A can of cherry pie filling is going on my grocery list!
  20. I've only tried the brownie mix and added extra mini chocolate chips...very yummy! My non gluten free son and daughter-in-law would never have guessed it was gluten free. Do you use a whole can of cherry pie filling for these two cakes? There was also a recipe posted (I think on this forum) adding instant pudding mix and a couple of other things to...
  21. I'm so glad to see the experimentation going on with this bread. I ordered my flours, etc. a week ago today and Barry Farm just shipped it today (priority mail) so hopefully I get it this weekend so I can play around with it. I'll definitely experiment with the 1/2 cup size. I only ordered a lb. of each. If you can tolerate dairy, would it work to lightly...
  22. Not knowing off-hand what the ingredients are or what you're able to tolerate, have you thought of using an Italian dressing to marinate the chicken or using Good Seasons (the dry mix) to make a glaze to brush on? Or possibly using Lawry's Seasoned Salt or a dry rub you make yourself?
  23. I just printed out the carrot cake recipe. It sounds so yummy. I'm not much into baking cakes but occasionally need to provide a dessert and this would fit the bill nicely.
