  1. I was the same. My iron levels were very low. You might have that tested. You may also just need the healing sleep. I slept 10 to 12 hours a day for months & am just now at the point where I can get along on 9.
  2. Only here are we able to freely talk about poop!
  3. Give your doc a hug & embrace your gluten-free diet! Too many go for years suffering. Count yourself blessed!
  4. Congrats on your marriage! And thanks for the posting. We have a free weekend in Vegas & I have put off going as all I could see was Gluten. Now I know we have options - thanks!!!!
  5. I usually just order a plain green salad & take along a gluten-free sandwich. It's just not worth the risk any more. Seems like the longer I am gluten-free the longer it takes to get over being glutened.
  6. I have been taking L-Glutamine for the past 2 months for constipation but haven't noticed any difference so wondered if it was helping. It is supposed to help the gut heal though.
  7. what great mom's. !!!

    ARCHIVED Olive Garden

The menu is limited but so are most places I guess. My experience there was a good one. The server explained that when a gluten-free meal is ordered they highlight it in red on the order board. Based on that I felt pretty safe. I had fish and it was fine.
  9. I have been glutened only a very few times in the past 11 months and the first 3 times it only lasted for the night. 11 months later i was glutened and it has taken a week to get over it. So... I guess I am overly paranoid about making sure there isn't a speck of gluten on the counters or sink. I read that vinegar was 99% disinfectant so had switched to...
  10. I still get embarrassed at bringing my own food and usually just stuff a sandwich in my purse. How do you manage it? When you bring a tuna salad - how?

I ate fresh pineapple till it came out my ears. And see if you can find some Star Fruit in the store. Ono fish is a special over there and when grilled is wonderful.
  12. Take a deep breath. Yes it is too much and no you can't learn it all ~ at least right away. I am 11 months into this and finally feeling like I have a handle on it. I started out in the beginning shopping with my Gluten Free Grocery Shopping Guide and a list of ingredient definitions. Shopping took forever. And cooking? I am 60 and have always hated to cook...
  13. whew! This is embarrassing. I am a female who had so much gas that about 15 years ago my daughter yelled at me "mom. You are sick. No normal person farts that much. You need to see a doctor!" Little did we know then how true that statement was! Since going gluten-free I have had very little gas although C is a major issue now. Go figure.
  14. Our walmart now has a gluten-free pasta. We had some tonight and it was pretty good. It was under 2.00.
  15. thanks for the responses. Don't mind the elbow grease but I have long counters and just want to be sure that gluten is scrubbed out of there!
  16. There are 2 part time gluten eaters in the home - they eat cereal. I scrub the sink after with ajax & the rinse with either vinegar or Simple Green. Just wondering what others use to de-glutenize the kitchen. I

Do you have a place to cook or warm foods? When we are there we always check out the local farmers mart as well for lots of organic fruit & veggies. Ask any local where one might be located.
  18. T.H. ~ I eat very little processed gluten-free food. Since the quantity of food that I can eat is limited I try to only eat whole food - the exception being friday nights when we have chips & wine with friends! lol As for supplements i take L-glutimine, flax seed, flax seed oil, magnesium and a probiotic. The whole thing is very frustrating. ...
  19. I may sound dumb but is prescription Prilosec different from the otc prilosec??
  20. well, I love lobster & crab legs however it doesn't sound like it would be worth the risk! Think it's better to make them myself.
  21. Our five kids like Natural Balance. Petco/Pet Smart carry it.
  22. We are 98% gluten-free in our home as I will cook only one meal. But, i have to add that this is for myself, partner & adult son which makes a huge difference. My son can go out he he doesn't want gluten-free. I have one counter in the kitchen that can be used for gluten ( their bread etc) so I know everything else is still gluten-free clean. I don...
  23. Red Lobster? Yum! Will have to try that one.
  24. You might want to check out the Gluten free Grocery Shopping Guide (I am hoping it's ok to suggest a specific book?). It lists 100's of different name brand products that are safe. However.... you must still check all ingredients before buying. The book was accurate as of publication date and as well all know much too well product ingredients change. ...
  25. I also take the turkey pepperoni with cheese & crackers for mini sandwiches. Also sliced apples & peanut butter.
