  1. Now that is a sweetie!!! Go make that boy a plate of brownies! gluten-free of course.
  2. Hi everyone! Only 6 weeks before the American festivities begin and I'm starting to panic a bit. By November 22 I should be in a good ol' Freak Out!!! So, talk me off the ledge. Help me manage being at my aunt's/cousin's/grandmother's house during the holidays (3 different celebrations and that is just for Thanksgiving!!). I usually host one Christmas...
  3. Hooray Bonnie Blue! I am so happy the weekend event turned out to be a true celebration! Such a great feeling when we overcome our fears. But never let your guard down - that gluten is out there just waiting for us to relax!
  4. Hi GFJenny - I am so sorry you are going through all this! I have no wonderful words of wisdom or advice, but wanted to let you know that we are hear and this forum is a wonderful place for support. Come here anytime to vent and rage and also celebrate!
  5. A cute, but noticeable "Gluten Free Zone" sign on your desk might be the reminder they need.
  6. I remember going on an anniversary trip with my husband 2 months after being diagnosed. I was a nervous wreck. In fact, the hotel kitchenette freaked me out so much I couldn't use it! It was fine and clean, nothing wrong with it from a non-Celiac point of view, it was all in my head. But I ended up eating at great restaurants that helped me navigate...
  7. Hi Bonnie Blue, Welcome to the Club and you are so very fortunate to find this site - it will become a great source of information and comfort; a great place to share and vent. The people here are wonderful. I think everyone here has run across or knows someone that doesn't understand the disease totally. Have you heard the expression, "You can lead a...
  8. I just had the SIBO breath test done today and I'm awaiting results eagerly. I'm so ready to feel better. I keep getting worse and worse on Gluten Free diet. Let us know what happens.
  9. Cinnabon, baby! And then a big juicy cheeseburger with a sourdough bun. And what about... nah, better not go there!
  10. Bookmark this site - you will be coming to it alot! Better yet, make it your homepage for a while! I was diagnosed as Celiac 5 short months ago and they just happened to find it while ruling out lymphoma. It is a blessing that they found it quickly before much damage happened, but sometimes I get mad and angry that I have this. I'm sure if I had...
  11. Now that I think about it, I did have crazy anxiety when I was on gluten. I would lie awake at night and think up scary situations that my family and I "might" get into one day, and what would I do about it. Or I would listen for every little sound in the house and think a burglar was trying to break in. Or I would over-analyze something my daughter said...
  12. I don't have a clue - just thought I would let ya know!
  13. I don't know what possible Celiac means, you either are or you aren't, but having a negative biopsy means you might be gluten intolerant/sensitive. Even still, you might test negative on bloodwork as well and STILL be intolerant/sensitive, as is the case in my daughter. She feels better eating gluten free, so she eats gluten free. I believe they can...
  14. Hi Jay88, I'm glad some of your symptoms are improving - at least that is something. But it will take longer to heal. I have been gluten free for 5 months and am slowly getting my energy back just this past month. My 11 year old daughter has been gluten-free for just a couple of months and she was feeling better (no D, no stomach pains) within a few weeks...
  15. Oh, I am so sorry you got glutened! It is a big wake up call. I have been gluten-free for 5 months and have been glutened 2 times. The first time I had family from out of town staying over and I had made them a key lime pie (not gluten free - mistake number one). After they left there was an entire pie left over. I proceeded to eat a huge piece and as...
  16. Samantha - you don't have to be diagnosed with Celiac Disease to have reactions to gluten. And while relief times vary from person to person, dedication and time will tell in your case. I hope you start to feel better soon. My 11 yr. old daughter had negative bloodwork but was positive for a gene for celiac disease. By her choice she...
  17. I totally get this! And I agree that our taste buds and cravings change. I craved mushroom soup last month - I have never liked mushrooms before, but that day I was buying 3 different kinds of 'em to chop and saute! Now I crave that instead of homemade wheat bread. Weird! But, I have not found a good substitute for Cinnabons! Oh My! The one thing...
  18. I had several infusions done last year, before I was diagnosed with Celiacs. I just couldn't keep my iron or ferritin levels up. I didn't recieve any medication days before the infusions. I just showed up to the clinic (mine was done at the chemo clinic) and they started the IV. They said if I had a reaction they would give me Benedryl. It took about...
  19. When I was diagnosed with Celiac I had my daughters tested. Both bloodworks came back negative but my younger daughter wanted to try gluten free to see if it cleared up her GI issues. I am not ready to go through a biopsy with her and a gluten-free diet was the answer anyway so why not? So, she has been voluntarily gluten free for 4 months and feeling...
  20. My daughter is 11 and LOVES corndogs - it is the one and only thing she missed when she went gluten free. So what I do is make the corn muffin recipe (any gluten-free one will do, I use the one on the side of a gluten-free corn meal box) and fill the muffin tin half full of mixture, add two slices of Nathan's Hot Dogs (or any other gluten-free dog) and then...
  21. I have been gluten-free for 5 months now and symptoms are getting worse. Bloating and tiredness and my edema in my feet is coming back like before diagnosis. I am not getting CC or eating gluten. My GI dr. doesn't want to do the follow up MRI or antibodies blood test check to see if my lymph nodes and left intestinal wall thickening has gone down. ???...
  22. Sillyken, Where are you located? I would gladly send you a bunch of gluten-free stuff! I recently donated to our local Food Pantry and the volunteers there had NO IDEA what I was giving them, nor the significance of it. I am positive all my gluten-free goodies went to a gluten household. While important, not what I intended. If I know of a...

    ARCHIVED Grief

I was so here at this point last week and I really just want to invite the person who says "It could be worse" to live gluten free for a month (with all the lovely side effects of course!). I still have those days, but everyone here totally understands. It is such a great place to come and read and vent. We all get it like no other. You will have good...
  24. Congratulations Ravenwoodglass! I'm so glad you took the plunge. We went to PF Changs last night and it was so good and yummy! Totally without fear of being glutened and had a great time with friends. Just like before diagnosis! Doing the happy dance for you and your family!!
  25. Some people are so wheatarded!!!!!
