ARCHIVED 7-11 Slurpees
GlutenFreeManna replied to kerrera's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Old thread, but I was wondering if this would come up. 7-11 is giving away free slurpees today. -
If you notice it only after eating it may be related to gluten or it may be related to another food intolerance suach as dairy or soy. Is it only on one side? Does the pain move ever or is it always in the same place? Did they do an ultrasound to check for cysts on your ovaries? I had a large cyst on one of my ovaries but it only caused me pain during...

ARCHIVED Glutened By Something I Ate Safely Last Week
GlutenFreeManna replied to Austin Guy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Could the BBQ sauce have gone bad or gotten contamination somehow? Did you have to slice the brisket on an old cutting board or reheat it in old tupperware with scrathes or in an old scrathed non-stick pan? -
ARCHIVED Got Glutoned Or Food Poisoned
GlutenFreeManna replied to mommyto2kids's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi, sorry you're having a rough time. The length of time it takes to recover from a glutening is different for everyone. It takes me a minimum of a week to recover. Drink lots of fluids and try to eat some bland things if you are feeling nauseus. I usually eat rice, chicken broth, plain chicken breast, and rice cakes with peanut butter when I've been... -
What do you eat since going gluten free? Have you made your kitchen gluten-free or at least made changes to avoid cross contamination (i.e. new toaster, new cuttign boards, new collander, new non-stick pans, separate prep stations for gluten food, etc? Are you still feeding your kids gluten? Just making their food and then eating yours without washing...

ARCHIVED Should I Still Call It Celiac Anyway?
GlutenFreeManna replied to Harpgirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have no test results except dietary response, but I tell friends and family it's celiac disease. My family still doesn't take it completely serious but most of them respect my wishes to not eat food they prepare. I have met many people who know what gluten-free is but they think I might cheat or just be doing this as a fad diet until I tell them it's... -
ARCHIVED Any Side Effects After Going Gluten-Free?
GlutenFreeManna replied to Mummyto3's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
If they have any behavioral symptoms when on gluten I have read their behavior can get worse for a while before getting better. -
ARCHIVED What Would You Do With Jam?
GlutenFreeManna replied to AzizaRivers's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Oh yum! What flavors do you have? I like to put jam on gluten-free pancakes, but there are lots of different meals you could incorporate it into depending on the flavors. Raspberry or strawberry jam can be used to make a simple vinaigrette salad dressing. Open Original Shared Link Grape jam/jelly makes a great "sauce" for meatballs or little smokies... -

I love wild game! Venison is great when we can get it. We live in a city and don't hunt but my dad often hunts and gives us some of the deer meat. I didn't feel like do a lot of cooking today so we're having turkey burgers with raw veggies and hummus tonight. Nice and simple. -
ARCHIVED Help
GlutenFreeManna replied to collgwg's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
When I'm feeling sick I try to eat plain, bland stuff--rice and baked chicken, chicken and rice soup (homemade), rice cakes with peanut butter or gluten-free toast with PB--peanut butter almost always stays down when I feel like throwing up. A baked potato or mashed potatoes with a little salt to replenish the salts you are losing by throwing up and D. ... -
ARCHIVED Pancakes
GlutenFreeManna replied to freeatlast's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
It all depends on how you like your pancakes- fluffy or thin? Sweet or savory? If you used to make whole wheat pancakes you would probably really like a buckwheat pancake. I make buckwheat pancakes following the recipe on the box of buckwheat flour. They very much remind me a whole wheat pancakes. Here's the recipe: Open Original Shared Link... -
ARCHIVED Jury Duty..what To Bring?
GlutenFreeManna replied to CarolinaKip's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
What about Enjoy Life bars? They are free of the top 8 allergens and I don't think they have corn either. They also make a nut free trail mix: Open Original Shared Link I have not seen their trail mix in my area but it seems like you could easily make your own mix from the same things they use--Dried pineapple, crasins, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds,... -

I'm glad you liked it too! I LOVE Asian food and I'm always trying new recipes. If you like orange chicken you have to try this recipe: http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/2009/09/slow-cooker-orange-chicken-recipe.html It's my favorite! So good! The only thing I do differently from her recipe is I add lots of red pepper flakes at the end of cooking. I... -

GlutenFreeManna replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
This turned out great! It makes A LOT of sweet and sour chicken, however. We've been eating the leftovers for two days. I served mine with steamed broccoli instead of bell peppers. Really any stir fried or steamed veggies and rice would be good with it. -

I thought you were going to point out that those cookies are NOT gluten free. At least not the chocolate chip ones. The second or third ingredient in the Nana's "NO Wheat" cookies is Barley flour. They do make a gluten-free line as well but I wouldn't buy them just based on everything else they make in the same facility. -

LOL! I actually have TWO places I trust to eat out: Red Robin and Five Guys. So we will take them to those places at least. Although the last time I went to Five Guys they couldn't do the lettuce wrapped burger because they only had shredded lettuce. They gave me a plain burger patty with shredded lettuce wrapped in foil. It was sort of a mess to eat... -
ARCHIVED Change In Alexia Frozen Potato And Sweet Potato Products
GlutenFreeManna replied to T.H.'s topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Your exact words were: "You can't have a gluten reaction if there is little to no gluten in a product" I'm not angry but I am going to correct you. Many of us DO have reactions to little gluten. If you are saying that you are super sensitive to cc then you should be aware of that. Perhaps you should have just said "You can't have a reaction to gluten... -
ARCHIVED Change In Alexia Frozen Potato And Sweet Potato Products
GlutenFreeManna replied to T.H.'s topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Just because YOU don't react to a "little gluten" please don't accuse people that do react to very small amounts of making things up. I have eaten these fries regualrly (about once every two weeks) for months with no trouble. Then all of the sudden I felt glutened and couldn't trace the source. I DID eat those fries that week. No ingredients have changed... -

I KNEW you were coming to help me move! Your only 4 hours away. Everything's almost packed up. You'll have to share the airbed with my In-laws though. On a good note the in-laws have decided to come the week AFTER we move instead. Yay! My husband was great. He called them and was VERY clear about where they would have to sleep if they got... -

ARCHIVED I Hate When We Have To Make Decisions Because Of Our Disease
GlutenFreeManna replied to T.H.'s topic in Super Sensitive People
((HUGS)) I have not flown since I developed the anaphylactic dairy allergy. But the food issues are not the only thing keeping me from flying. I'm more upset by the intrusive pat downs. I refuse to let someone I don't know touch my genitals. I don't care if it's fast and over the clothes. I have read the stories and it seems like they target overweight...
