  1. It will actually be much better if she makes yours first. I have read on here that flour dust can stay in the air for up to four hours. Is there any reason you can't be in the kitchen while she's making yours to "help" her? If you phrase it more as you want to learn how to make the gluten free cannelloni yourself she may be more receptive. That way you...
  2. Quesadillas--fill with cheese, any meat, beans, whatever you like really. Tacos Enchiladas Fajitas--beef, chicken or all veggies--peppers, onions are traditional, but whatever stirfried veggies and seasonings you like works too. Taco salad-- line a large muffin cup with tortillas, brush with oil and bake until crispy, then fill with meat/veggies...
  3. Well then I think that's your answer. You did have some positive testing and some positive response to the diet.
  4. Nope, it sounds like you have a problem with gluten. You could test it with something like cream or wheat or tricuits to make sure it's not something else (greasy food?), but normal people do not have any problem going back to eating gluten.
  5. I'm a little confused by your situation. If all your tests were negative and you don't react when you eat gluten then what led you to eat gluten free? Perhaps I'm misunderstanding your posts. If eating gluten does indeed make you sick then you have your answer. No need to get a test to "prove" what your body is telling you. If eating gluten free has...
  6. Taco soup in the crockpot and oven baked corn chips made from corn tortillas.
  7. Oooh, have fun! I hope you can find just what you want. I currently live if a teeny tiny apartment with a galley kitchen and I sometimes look at houses on zillow.com or trulia.com and drool over the kitchens. I'm not in a position to buy, unfortuantely, but I will definitely be looking for an apartment with a bigger kitchen when my lease is up here.
  8. How strict have you been about being gluten free? Like Txplowgirl, my anxiety went away after a few months of a gluten free, soy free and dairy free diet. However I mostly notice the anxiety comes back when I get some accidental gluten. If you have been really strict and don't think you are getting little bits of gluten somewhere, then I would see a counselor...
  9. I think some companies don't want to do it because of liability reasons. No gluten ingredients used does not always mean gluten free. Also in some countries if they claim something is gluten free they have to do testing to back up that claim. The US doesn't currently require testing, but I know other places do. I get around this by just eating mostly...
  10. I don't think you can. I've seen at least two posts on here from people who were frustrated that when they substituted the gluten-free mix in their favorite Bisquick recipe it didn't work. They do have a lot of gluten-free recipes on their site however: Open Original Shared Link Maybe they have a gluten-free version of the item you saw on there?
  11. Thank you! We actually found a cabin we can afford for the weekend. It's in the mountains with a kitchen so I will just pack all my food and cook for the weekend, but I will be looking into these B&B's for future vacations. It's nice to know there are some places that will make an effort.
  12. Thank You! I hope these will work with almond milk. I'm going to try them and I'll let you know.
  13. Thanks for all the ideas so far. I know there are a lot of simple things that are gluten free like chips and dips, but I need recipes. I'm not really looking for ideas of things to serve people. I'm looking for RECIPES that gluten people might say "oh, that's really good I want the recipe." It's to write out on a fancy recipe card and give away. Keep...
  14. Sadly, no. I checked the ingredients online and they have soy in them. That's why I'm looking for a recipe.
  15. My church often has events where they ask everyone to bring a dessert or appetizer and the recipe to share with others. Although I can't eat anything that anyone else brings I like to try to bring something I CAN eat and the recipe. So I need recipes that are "normal" or mainstream (i.e. nothing with odd flours or substitutions) but still gluten free (and...
  16. Soy SAUCE is not always gluten free. Some of it is made with wheat (check the label, it has to be disclosed in the US). Soy ALONE does not have gluten in it. However many do react to soy in various ways. I did a poll asking how many people here also avoid soy and the variety of reasons for avoiding it was wide. Some people might have an allergy, some...
  17. We read so many stories of unsupportive/clueless family members on here, I just had to share what my parents did for me for Christmas this year. They live in another part of the country from me and I won't be able to visit them this year for Christmas. So they went to an allergy-friendly foods store near their hometown and bought me a bunch of gluten free...
  18. I would just deal with it the same way you would deal with a gift that doesn't match your personal tastes (i.e. something ugly or some food you dislike regardless of celiac): Say thank you and then discreetly re-gift or dispose of it. I doubt they gave it to you to be rude or to rub it in that you can't eat it. Unless this is a really close friend or family...
  19. As longer as there are no scratches in them you should be able to clean them well and use them without a problem. The main concern for CC is from old non-stick pans with scratches and cast iron. Cast iron you can burn off the gluten by heating in the oven at really high temps and re-season.
  20. Anyone have a tried and true gluten free graham cracker recipe? I want to make some to to take camping for s'mores. I need them to be soy and dairy free as well, so no soy flour recipes please (dairy is easy to sub with almond milk most of the time). Thanks!
  21. Yesterday I made Morrocan chicken and rice. I didn't feel like cooking tonight. I had a bowl of popcorn while watching a movie with hubby. Hubby ate some leftover morrocan chicken.
  22. I'd take her strictly gluten free for two months and then challenge her with gluten to see what happens. It's possible that her symptoms are just so slight she never complains or it's possible her symptoms just haven't manifested themselves yet. It's also possible that she has no "classical" symptoms but something else that you are not expecting goes away...
  23. So sorry Do you have Pamela's cake mixes in your area? I made a great white cake from a Pamela's mix. My non-gluten free DH couldn't even tell it was gluten free (it was for his birthday, but I wanted some too). It was much better than the gluten-free Betty Crocker cake mix. Also I have had good luck making the Betty Crocker yellow mix more moist by...
  24. McCormick's single ingredient spices are all safe. Here's some recent info on Mccormicks: http://www.gfreefoodie.com/are-mccormick-spices-gluten-free/ The main thing to think about is if you have old spices in your cabinet and have ever in the past dipped a measuring spoon in them that has been coated with flour dust from using it on the flour before measuring...
