ARCHIVED Soggy Pizza Crust
love2travel replied to coffeetime's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Can you please post the recipe and temperature? Did you try parbaking the crust, flipping it over and baking further? Did you use cornmeal on the bottom? -
ARCHIVED Cupcakes

I know what you mean! When I first saw Udi's bread at $6.99 I was astounded. Then I encountered a $10 loaf of bread at a Farmer's Market. Thankfully I do my own baking but not everyone has as much time as I do. I used to balk at such crazy prices (when I first went gluten-free) but of course I realize now that some ingredients can be far more expensive... -

I get paid $10 for 6 gluten-free cupcakes so no, I do not think that is too high (that is what was offered to me). -
ARCHIVED I Need A Gluten Free House, I Think
love2travel replied to color-me-confused's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
gluten-free pizza is easy to make and while the crust may not be like the wood burning oven thin crust in Italy, it can be pretty good. -
In addition to Hampton Court I would recommend Leeds.

ARCHIVED Positive Blood Tests - Why Is My Gp Sending Me To A Rheumatologist First?
love2travel replied to Sunflower Girl's topic in Doctors
When we were recently in Italy we were told by a medical professional that it is mandatory for everyone to be tested for celiac disease by the age of 5. -
Warwick is probably the best done castle with a touch of tackiness in the UK! Very tasteful. I've been to over 125 castles in Europe and remember that one vividly. That is a good sign. Not only will your daughter love it but the two of you will as well. Have a spectacular time in England! Man, I love it there...cannot wait to hear all the...

ARCHIVED Change In Alexia Frozen Potato And Sweet Potato Products
love2travel replied to T.H.'s topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thus far I have not been able to determine any links between eating any foods to GI troubles (aside from neuro things such as fog, etc. that does not seem to happen after any specific food - usually when I am very tired - my fibro also contributes to that). When I went on my gluten challenge for four months I did not feel sick at all (although I am more... -
I really like Warwick Castle, too. Some of the displays are a touch tacky but it is a lot of fun - they really make it come alive! You could easily spend a few hours there. I, too, love London. Although I am NOT a city person it is an incredible place. Last time we stayed in the Kensington Palace area as well and enjoyed it very much. B&Bs are...

ARCHIVED First Time Going Out For Dinner Since Diagnosed?
love2travel replied to CourtneyLee's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I agree ADAMANTLY with Sara on both counts. When I read "...you shouldn't encounter health problems with a small amount of gluten from cross contamination" I was totally floored. Cross contamination creates havoc in our bodies. It takes only a few crumbs to make us very, very sick (even if we do not feel sick our insides run amok). Heck, if you have some... -
ARCHIVED Betty Crocker Cookie Mix
love2travel replied to anna34's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
They are awesome! No need for any mixes.... -
I, too, love much of the gluten-free baking I make but am still trying to nail down good croissants, eclairs, English muffins, fresh pasta and of course fab bread. Am I weird? I've tried the Kinnikinnick doughnuts and was incredibly disappointed but then I was used to the puffy yeast doughnuts as opposed to the cake doughnuts. Perhaps it is a regional...

ARCHIVED Betty Crocker Cookie Mix
love2travel replied to anna34's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
OK - back from massage. This is one of the recipes I make regularly...my favourite. Must type the other one as it is in a book. Open Original Shared Link -
Eating gluten does not make me feel sick (well, didn't - I've been gluten-free for five months now) so the temptation is always there. I would never, ever actually follow through with cheating it as I know of the damage that has been done internally but I truly do not think I will ever forget the tastes, textures and smells of gluten goods. Hopefully I...

ARCHIVED Betty Crocker Cookie Mix
love2travel replied to anna34's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I've never made cookies from a mix but you can easily make fabulous chewy gluten-free cookies from scratch! I am going for a massage appointment but will try to remember to attach a couple of recipes for you that work very well. My non-celiac husband actually prefers the gluten-free version! -
ARCHIVED Suffering For Two Years..
love2travel replied to Ashley Rae's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi from a fellow Canadian (Alberta). The endoscopy does NOT hurt. I worried for nothing. I also had a colonoscopy done at the same time to rule out other things (i.e. ulcers, etc. - clear) while I was sedated. The only tricky part was fasting for 48 hours for the colonoscopy as I got very hungry but that is much shorter for the endo (plus you do... -

Please refresh my memory - are you are moving from a townhouse to a house? Will you have room for a grill outside? Oh, yes. I had forgotten about dairy/soy free in ambrosia. I know what you mean about so many ideas rolling around in your mind! Hawaiian chicken sounds delicious, too. When I cook I also plan ahead for leftovers to send with my husband... -

love2travel replied to 0010xoxotee's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
For breakfasts I like bacon and eggs, omelettes, poached eggs with hollandaise, plain old cereal, frittata, homemade bread with creamy lavender honey, grilled cheese and smoothies. I LOVE bluberry/strawberry/banana with some apple juice and yogurt and flaxseed. Sometimes I just have leftovers for breakfast. Oh, and pancakes with homemade butter rum syrup... -
We fly to Europe frequently but only our past trip in May was gluten-free. I had absolutely no problems taking sealed things such as gluten-free nuts, pretzels, Udi's bread, little packets of Nutella, falafel chips. Oh, and homemade toffee and some Skittles. I did not know how much would be available so actually took too much along (ended up frequenting...

ARCHIVED What's For Breakfast Today?
love2travel replied to GlutenFreeManna's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
About as dull as can be but I did not fall asleep last night (pain) so am exhausted. Chocolate stars cereal and a handful of walnuts I roasted with Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, cayenne pepper, a touch of butter and seasoning salt. -

You are a cornucopia of wit! -
Next time you want to make chili perhaps look into dried kidney beans. I use dried beans, chickpeas and lentils all the time - they are cheaper, too. They are not as convenient but they are more readily available than gluten-free canned versions.
