  1. y'all are hilarious!! i had to read, like, 5 pages to catch up i had good success with bette hagman's pie crust recipe, but i would like to try the one irish smartass heart put on here gelato, my a$$ lololz i think i found a pretty good deal on a belgium waffle iron (the kind that flips over, so that will make the husband happy. ?........
  2. o my gosh - so i'm not the only one!!! glass cutting boards wig me out............
  3. LOLOLZ!!!!!!!!!! EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!
  4. and the correct response is: your *face* is a lie!!!!! <this response courtesy of all my snotty daughters lolz) that is a great idea - i can think of many things that would be great dipped in chocolate......... like......... everything.......... LOLZ - yup! what *wouldn't* you dip in chocolate???????????????????????
  5. i wiil have to look for them! then, i can dip my own tater chips lolz, barty! (was it very rare? or marinated?) i have ever had fish with white chocolate sauce and it was surprisingly delicious... if i make that for the hubs he might have a heart attack ("WHY in the WORLD would you ruin that steak??!!") if he could slice it right off the cow...
  6. 3 pm is my sleepy-time. we used to have a lull in my office when the 'day' was over and we started working on the 'next day'. my friend used to swear by a 15 min power nap but it never worked for me - it takes me longer than that to relax into sleep. maybe try a snack unless you can do a power nap. power nap and a pb&j
  7. i hadn't been sick in a year - 'germ' sick - i am around snotty children all the time lolz - it wasn't until i glutened myself, twice in a row (DUH!!) that i caught the virus du jour. i am having more neuro issues than gastro from glutening, and i am attributing that to being further healed in the intestines. btw - i am getting better on my own with the...
  8. i want to try them - they probly have soy (lecithin in the chocolate), and soy hates me here is one of my favorites since sometimes i have to forego the chocolate: sliced apples, dipped in caramel, and crushed potato chips. eat immediately. i would, however, suffer through the soy if the potato chips weren't soggish..... do i dare to get my hopes...
  9. i eat tostitos all the time and they are gluten-free are you maybe having a reaction to corn? sometimes when we take out the (obvious) gluten, we have a reaction to something else. i have a secondary sensitivity to soy, which i didn;t figure out until i removed the gluten and my system started to settle down. use a food journal, maybe. also, have you...
  10. i posted a link (in 'celiac meeting room' i think) that was a site for gluten-free dating. i am married but i can imagine it would be difficult to date now that i am diagnosed. but if i wasn't diagnosed, i wouldn't be dating, i would be sick or dead hahaha wouldn't have to worry about dating then hahahaa seriously, is that something you put right out...
  11. thanx, y'all. i made it out to our river property yesterday because my friends were all like 'you don't love us anymore' so they made a big bonfire and we burned stuff. it's been a long time since i have been so dumb eating (over and over) so my poor buddies aren't used to me being knocked down very much anymore. on top of that, my immune system must...
  12. i am not the resident expert, but if i need panko-like crumbs, i put bread in the oven to dry it out until it's dried on the outside but still 'bready' on the inside, then break it into pieces and put in mini-chopper. the moistness of the inside bread sort of compacts it a little and keeps it big. if i'm really ambitious or i'm making something that i want...
  13. WHERE was this recipe when i was over-run with green beans from the never-ending garden??? that's ok - i froze a bunch of them already cooked, so this should work great - everybody loves the green bean casserole (with the cr of mush soup and fried onions) but ME. maybe i will make this for ME lolz happpy thanxgiving to ME - i'll call them haricort...
  14. arlene gave away her waffle iron
  15. i agree =- these 2 back to back instances which have taken up nearly a month of my time have been brought to me courtesy of eating out so not worth it
  16. yep - the only thing i can compare it to is when i was a "weekend warrior" in my young and bulletproof days when we would spend two days drinking any and all alcohol we could get our hands on then had a wicked hangover. maybe it's dehydration related? <the brain thing) now, when i get glutened it feels like that (i hardly drink anymore oy vey and certainly...
  17. i am going to give them a re-try, maybe as chicken & waffles waffles. it could have been newbie-shock lololz :o
  18. maybe it is penance for their sucky waffles! they were like the second 'gluten-free substitute' thing that i bought when i was first diagnosed, that and ener-g rice bread (i think) anyways, very bad, and the bread was like styrofoam - this site is worth it's weight in gold just for food recommendations!!! worth it's weight, y'all, so keep eating those...
  19. i read the title to your thread and said, yes, yes and yes. i have all those things today (and for another week probably ) because i got cross contaminated from a restaurant on tuesday (and ate my boxed leftovers on wednesday - i don't get obvious symptoms until a few days later) relating to your celiac, that is how i feel when i have gotten glutened....
  20. maybe she got an 'f' on her paper
  21. last month we had my bff and her daughter come for a visit. my daughter had some time off from school, so we took a trip to nashville. my friend got a suite with a kitchenette i'm sure so that i would be able to fix myself something to eat. (i didn't - i brought sandwich meat and bread, etc) but everyone was so *hungry* all the time <the girls) that...
  22. simona's recipes are DA BOMB :) that challah dough is shapeable, too - one halloween i made a bread skeleton from it. it was YUMMMZZ and i just laid it out on a tray for soup dippers. the big loaf is great for french toast. i might accidentally have to make some...... hubs is coming home for a few days, so i think i will make: cod w/bruschetta...
  23. i am a huge fan of tea tree oil - i make my own 'salve' (just melt petroluem jelly & add about 4-5 drops of oil) and it keeps my skin from drying out in the winter if i slather it on right after showering. you would think it would be greasy but my skin just soaks it all up. i also use shampoo that has tea tree and lavender and it seems to keep the sebhorblabic...
  24. good to see you, love2 and, did you say bacon? because you cannot fail when bacon is on the plate! last night was shrimp for us - did i mention i like to play with my food (lolz, my husband makes me stick to the recipe the first time i try it so i fooled him - no more recipe hahahahaaa) roast butterflied shrimp on spinach with bacon and lemon...
  25. no, you are just going to hafta suffer through symptoms - your intestines have been healing (hopefully) and one glutening isn't going to undo that - just get back on the horse i haven't tried to have sushi 'out' because of the soy sauce (lots of them are made with wheat) i use bragg's enzyme as a sub at home. hope you feel better
