    ARCHIVED Ah!

this is one of those times i would personally take some xanax - i get all spun up - ugh, i feel for you, buddy. i don't take but like 1/3 of the dose i am prescribed to fly/travel, but it takes the (unnecessary! and i can tell myself all day and all night 'you are worrying over nothing') edge off the anxiety. and helps my guts not to turn to goo <my...
  2. it's taken a while, but i am slowly collecting recipes for replicating things i have always baked. sometimes, it's just the flour blend - and the wierd goopy dough is hard to get used to. in the beginning i was trying to replicate the *dough* lolz but it would turn out wierd, dense and gritty. sometimes goopy dough is the way to go i have experimented...
  3. you can make chicken balls!!! recipe on the baking beauties website addie started it (lolz and i still have sauce leftover so OBVIOUSLY ima hafta make them again) heeeeeeeeeeere chicken chicken chicken! last night i made awesome new england clam chowda - it's my own recipe and i'm from jersey, so i guess it's hoboken clam chowda lolz - got some...
  4. *i* do! ms k, i see what you are saying - we hang around here to try to help people - most people who are new come onto this website, glean the info they need and move on. so we have sort of a unique view of the celiac population. but here's some things i have experienced: i have one other celiac that i know in my town, and we belong to the same club...
  5. yes, cap, he always thinks that's funny that, and his biggest advice: "just don't *lick* it, you should be ok..." like i go around licking things........ yes, i think you're right - all my friends have the same opinion - spend the extra $ on the 'better' dog food - dog will have less health problems (which omgosh vet bills are often astronomical...
  6. all of our kids and grandkids have eaten dog food. even when we didn't have a dog, they would eat their friends' dog's food. it must be a toddler/little kids rite of passage i remember eating rabbit food with my little neighborhood buddy - we couldn't have been all of 3 or 4..... rice chex for training - what a great idea!
  7. maybe you will get lucky - you do have the luck of the irish going for you
  8. rant ahoy! lolz can you get on a waiting list? sometimes doctors will get cancellations and you can get in earlier.
  9. last night was: chicken with mushroom gravy (loves my herb garden - lots of sage, thyme, rosemary really made it tasty!) mashed potatoes, carrots today i'm going to the publix - who knows what dinner will be tonight - mystery dinner woooooooooooooo scaryyyyyyy....... maybe col. mustard with the lead pipe in the library........
  10. do they mean a 'commercial' clarifying shampoo? do you have pre-existing scalp issues ( because i do and worry about making it worse ) - might give it a try........ no vinegar smell? i use tea tree oil anyway and make my own stuff, so would be easy to put some in a spray bottle with water
  11. it's kind of a dealbreaker, right??!! i'm glad you're not wasting your time on somebody who doesn't care if they are making you ill
  12. i thought you were either positive or negative for a gene - how do you have half a gene? i have never had a gene test, so i have no idea............. just curious
  13. i did in the beginning (i could not believe it!) and it set me back. since then, if we are home, he eats mostly gluten free. he likes his beer, though, so he has to brush up. (i even bought those little 'wisp' disposable toothbrushes) easy enough and no worries just in case it was my 'magination, i would like to test it out again, but i am chicken...
  14. i DID make some last year and it was pretty awesome i recall it was stupid easy, too, (and i didn't take out the seeds but now i can so hubs will eat it! lolz) so that is a great idea. i am running out of ideas for tomatoes - right now i have roasted garlic & tomatoes & thyme cooked and ready to be de-seeded and de-skinned to put up for soup base...
  15. this thing is a-mazing - we just quarter the tomatoes and throw them in a hopper - it goes through a screen, juice and pulp comes out, skin and seeds come out another 'chute' it's called "roma food strainer and sauce maker" i think it runs about $50 but worth every penny. hubs hates the seeds and we can do tomatoes in like, 30 minutes, skinless and seedless...
  16. "interactable dandruff" - lolz, colleen, one of them five dolla words
  17. the kefir (it's like yogurt you drink) i buy is 99% lactose free and gluten free - i am like you, hungry all the time, i could eat every 2 hours. kefir has lots of protien and will tide me over if i am feeling famished, eat, drink some kefir, good to go also, almonds or almond butter will keep me satisfied for a longer amount of time, but even a pb&...
  18. oh, and hand sanitizer is not your friend - use soap & water. that was a stumbling point for me, too. hand sanitizer won't get rid of gluten, just makes it really germ-free gluten you have to wash it off
  19. i likes my alone time - maybe because my house is like grand central. i got a few things done this morning, but at 2 i go and pick up the grandkid, 2:20 my neighbor comes over to borrow a drill, which involves txtng husband (where is your drilll) climbing up in carriage house rafters to retrieve said drill, figuring out how to unlock the safety thingy, annnnd...
  20. sounds like you are still getting gluten from somewhere? maybe not every day, but just enough to keep you messed up. before i was diagnosed, i would just fall down. for no reason. or just drop stuff, my muscles were out of my control. and gluten makes me sad and crazy....... that being said: sweetie, have you gone to the doctor in case you really...
  21. that is a beautiful sight! i love it when the pantry is full of those lil' jars of yumminess. we have this contraption that squishes the pulp and juice out of the tomatoes (minus skin and seeds) so we have been freezing them. so far so good - if we have a power outage, we are having marinara for dinner for a month lolz i have cooked some of the...
  22. i should clarify - because corn tortillas *are* awesome - just not as a sub for what clearly could have used a flour tortilla. it really was a sucky combination. they turned sort of mushy and soaked up the juice from the salsa, then they broke apart. i like corn tortillas for other things it's funny you say that - i got nauseas walking into a food...
  23. cq - i don't let him touch it! i just palm it until he offers me the 'regular' plate, then i open my hand and he says 'the body of Christ' - that's official enough for me and he is ok with it. the whole congregation knows i do this and nobody has fussed at all. and, right, i'm of the opinion that Jesus (the healer) wouldn't want someone to get sick...
  24. red robin - yummmmm! i think i have eaten out 4 times in the past 3 years, so thought we would try it. and it's right in my favorite area to shop i was nervous as a cat! but they did a good job and everything was delicious. the udi's bun must have been a different recipe than the hamburger ones i have gotten at the store. i was a little wigged out...
  25. hide! thurs - the gabrielle special - seared scallops, bacon, spinach salad with mandarin oranges, poppy seed dressing (brianna's is the best and i can not fake it!) with extra sharp white chedda (youngest was home from school for a day or so - long enough for mom to make her favorite, get a new cellphone, get free dinner at red robin, and gas $$) ...
