  1. Hi Nadtorious, I know exactly where you're coming from. I got sick at a holiday party earlier this month because I felt obligated to eat what they specially ordered for me, got kicked in the teeth for a week following the party. Here's what I'm going to say from now on.. "Thank you so much, that was so incredibly kind of you to cook that just for...

    ARCHIVED Panera Bread

Yay! Good luck! I know a Practice Administartor in a large pulmonary/internal medicine group with DH. He packs a lunch and goes to work out for the lunch hour. Let us know how it goes... and thanks for the tip on Panera B.C.
  3. Good luck with your tomato challenge this summer, Mushroom. If it's a go, that would add a world of good to your menu! I'm not big on fresh tomatos, but I love those little yellow pear shaped heirloom or nice sun ripened cherry tomatos.
  4. I usually add a bit more binder to gluten-free crumbs (like 2 jumbo eggs vs 2 eggs) or add some groumd pork depending on how lean the beef is. Most of the gluten-free purchsed products seam to have a mealy consistency, so I add extra fat or binding ingredients. but reducing the amount of bread crumbs makes great sense too.
  5. I'm going to try it on my psoriasis. Nothing else seems to stop it from itching. Thanks for posting@ If there's an end to the itch, I'll be grateful to you forever!
  6. Great response! I give Tarnalberry and an A+
  7. I didn't poke positive on allergy testing, but corn gave my digestive system a good whack and whammy after going gluten-free. I waited a year to try corn again because I'm a wussy about being sick. Maybe I should have tried it earlier, but I'm not going to dwell on that.
  8. We reheated frozen cooked pizza today in the oven. It was good, but I tought outloud that next time I'd try reducing the amount of chese in the crust. DP thought it was fabulous, but he likes everything, and said it was like a New York crust. I think next time I make the crust I'll use 1/2 vs. 1 cup of cheese. It was good, but the crust was moist in...
  9. I bought the focacciia mix but have't tried it yet. The local HF store had Chebe's on sale for $2.29 last week! (I stocked up.) Good luck with your holy pizza pan. I find it best to stick it on a lower oven rack for (still trying to determine the right amount of time, but I think it's 2/3 the time, then rotate it and move it to the top of the oven...
  10. My DP came home tonight, and it was a 3 1/2 hour (roundtrip) drive to collect him from the airport. I made corned beef brisket with potatoes, carrots and onion in the crock pot. He hadn't had anything since breakfast (and that was a donut and coffee), so he was thrilled with dinner (and being home, first decent meal he'd had other than hospital or...
  11. KarenG mentioned heating up frozen Chebe's breadsticks in her toaster oven. I don't have one and don't have room in my galley kitchen for another appliance. Frozen pre-cooked Chebe breadsticks can be plopped in a standard toaster (my setting is at 3) and they come out pefect!!!! I made some of the breadsticks into knots, and two of those frozen...
  12. I had no problem with corn shortly after going gluten-free, then had a big problem with corn (and dairy) but for the moment I'm good to go on both. I hate challenges when they fail, but I waited a year to try corn, so I'm on a corn wagon. I bought 4 bags of them as we were passing through a city with a WF. If I'd read your post, I'd have bought a case...
  13. There's a really good chance that either your father or mother has celiac disease, since both you and your sister have been diagnosed. My mother was diagnosed but chose to be non-comopliant with the diet and deal with the consequenses. (There was a laundry list of consequenses.) I know it's hard, but since you were so recently diagnosed, I'd suggest...
  14. Hi gluten-free, I have to wear make up because of my job. I finally gave up and called Merle Norman, asked to speak to the owner, and told her I wanted to come in for a makeover, but only with gluten-free products. (I called them because I saw that they were a sponsor at a Celiac convention. I mentioned that she didn't need to call be back the same...
  15. :DThey're so good I'm going to tell DP all I want for Christmas is Cheddar Cheese Curls by Michaels. (As I'm finishing off the bag from the present I was supposed to open on Christmas.)
  16. You didn't say or do anything wrong, I promise. And the ham should be fine, but it would be worthy checking out what ham and where it's going to be cooked and servrd. I got slammed by ham at our holiday party because it was cc I think. Nobody else voted for fried chicken over ham, right? I'd be concerned if they were picking up the ham at the fried...
  17. Hi Adam, Welcome to the forum. All of us learn more here than anywhere else, I think.
  18. I'm suspecting that the cake turned out fine, but please keep us appraised!
  19. Yay! Good luck to you, glad you're finding the right track.
  20. One of my co-workers presented me with Michael Season's Baked Cheddar Cheese Curls for Christmas, along with a couple of new SF DF chocolate bars & rice crackers as a holdiday gift. I want to buy a truckload of those Cheese Curls! They are outrageously good, and awesome on top of soup! They taste good and have a good crunch, they're really, really...
  21. Thanks. I think you'll like it!
  22. That is so cool, Alex, she's learning how to read, how to cook, and she's a mere five years old.
  23. Pamper yourself tonight. Long soak in the tub with peppermint oil and epsom salts/baking soda. A few sips of Irish Whiskey or Gran Marnier. Drip a couple of drops of peoppermint oil an a tissue and stick it over a lamp in your bedroom before you soak. Its taking me right around 6 days now to recover. You'll be yourself in a bit. Hope that helps...
  24. Have you tried Chebe mix yet? I'm thinking, and beware, I don't always think correctly, but maybe if you added a tsp. of baking powder to the pizza crust mix and proceeded with your cast iron pan cooking. It still won't be the same, but it would be edible and I reckon enjoyable. Maybe try Calzone first. My ex owned a pizza parlor, I've spent a fair amount...
  25. Hey Jestgar, Ask her not to pollute your six dozen egg whites with any yolk if you're doing meringue. There's a chocolate pie in a meringue pie shell that you make with 3/4 cup melted chocolate chips and whipped cream on Allrecipes, maybe My Mom's Favorite Chocolate Pie. It was posted on the forum and is absolutely to die for, especially if you add...
