  1. Nope, but I'm not saying Ball Park aren't gluten-free. These were all beef with a natural casing and I'll report soon about the brand name because DP wants me to get another box of them. (They're handy for a quick meal.) They were soy free too.
  2. In the end, I did have a reaction. What really bothers me about the situation is that I didn't follow the things that have always gotten me through situations like this. (That, and the reaction will probably be worse tomorrow.) I won't bore you with the details, but it sucks to be me right now. I didn't pack safe foods for the "what if" situation...
  3. Now that sounds good! I can't remember the name of the manufacturer of the hot dogs, but I bought them in US at a membership store. We had to buy a a box of them but I was hankering for a hot dog, so it worked. We had an adventure with those hot dogs, made slaw dawgs, dogs in the blanket, cheese dawgs, grilled dogs. I guess I left the lettuce wraps for...
  4. If your gut is bad and autoimmune system is on fire, I'd recommend more time for healing, like six or even (Yikes!) 12 months. of avoiding what hurts you. That could just be my experience though, and it seemed like everything I ate was making me ill. I'm doing much better and reintrducing foods now. I'm only adding this as friendly advice.. maybe a...
  5. We had grilled gluten-free SF Hot Dogs in a lettuce wrap tonight, and I would highly recccommend if you ever consider that as a menu idea, squash it.
  6. I don't make an issue of what I eat, but other people at the workplace do. They told me specifically that I should be fine because they ordered ham, mashed potatoes, turkey and cornbread stuffing for the party today. So for the first time in over a year and a half, I didn't pack my food. (I only brought my own salad dressing and a chocolate meringue pie...
  7. Yep, corn is a tough one to eliminate from the diet and H&B products. Truth is, I'm still kind of scared of it. Hope your pasta was good! (I can't trade him, he saved me when times got really dark.) But if you ever want some smoked meat, holler, I've got it in the refrigerater and freezer. I stick it in soups and beans, stuff peppers...
  8. "Oooooh, I love rocket (aka arugula). It is one of my favourite greens because it goes with so many things." I love it too! I'm growing rocket, just didn't know it, thought it was arugula. Thanks for solving the mystery, Love2Travel! (I live in the deep south, so this is our good growing season.)
  9. Your recipe sounds absolutely fabulous! Thank you for posting. We don't have quark in the states, but I read on Wikipedia (not always a good source) that you can substitute cottage cheese mixed with sour cream. Do you think that would work? If so, what ratio would you use? By the way, all of my grandparents came from the Netherlands and I am...
  10. It is so sad. What's funny is that my non celiac disease sister would make her be compliant with the diet. I always let Mom have what she wanted. What is rocket?
  11. Thank you prickly, I'm pretty happy about that. Funny thing is, I've been postponing a challenge for ages. DP wanted me to get him a 12 pack of beer when I went to the grocery yesterday. I was looking at the corn chips, found one without soy and ta da. Tonight we're having smoked pork butt with mashed potatoes and steamed green beans. DP is still...
  12. Even before going gluten-free Nyquil used to hurt me. I'd break out in hives and feel like I was ready to crawl walls (forget about sleeping). That could just be me.
  13. Nope. And the tingling is gone...I get corn again!
  14. I looked in the eyes of a woman is her late 60's several months ago. She worked in medical records and I needed medical records. I saw that "dead" look I used to see in the mirror. I asked her if she had IBS, and she asked me how I knew. I talked her into going gluten-free. She called me a week later and told me that her GI told her she didn't have...
  15. I made the bread this morning substituting mango pulp and half a chopped apple for the mashed banana. I also added 1/2 cup sunflower oil to the wet mixture. My only remaining loaf pan is 8", so I poured some of the batter in two ramekins and baked them along with the bread. The ramekins were cooked in less than 30 minutes and cooled quickly, so by...
  16. We used to always have that casserole where you chop up bread, throw in browned sausage or crumbled bacon bits, sauteed onion, then top with whisked eggs and milk, refrigerate it overnight. On Christmas morning you bake it with cheese on top. I bet it would be good with Udi's or other gluten-free bread cubes.
  17. I'll be good until I run out of that little packet from the indian grocer! It's either dried cardamon pods or tamarind pods (husk removed), I think. Tonight we're having stuffed peppers again. Peppers are .25 each now, so I stuffed them with chopped onion, leftover chicken, asiago cheese, mexican quesa cheeese and Udi's crummbs. And I had finally...
  18. The first thing that popped into my mind was Rutabega soup. Sounds like you're sharing a house? My neighbor turned me on to this shortly after I was sensitive to everything. You chop up an onion (shared stainless steel pans should be okay, you just might want to wash them yourself before using.) Saute the onion in olive or other safe oil. Peel and...
  19. If you can get Chebe's pizza crust mix (if not locally, you can get it at the gluten-free Mall), you don't need a mixer. You mix it with a spoon or a fork and then knead it. You can roll it out or pat it out. Helps to have one of those holy pizza pans (from any big box store). I find it best when I bake it 1/2 of the time directed on the package instructions...
  20. On a second (blush) look, I see that the perfect star shape is the serving dish. Nice presentation!
  21. I didn't get around to roasting the peppers, but we had pizza with chicken, salami triangles, sliced sweet red and yellow peepers, onion and garlic with mozzarella, asiago and parmesan cheese. I made the sauce from an Allrecipes pizza sauce recipe, and it turned out great! And LOL I'm still not sure what spice I put it that applesauce yesterday, but it...
  22. Brilliant! How did you get that perfect star shape? I'm wishing for one right now, with Rum Raisin Ice Cream on top, maybe a little chocolate.
  23. I understand the need to vent, and this is a good place to do it. Hopefully you'll find peace with it. I resented it so much at first, turned my life upside down. I'm really glad I don't have M.S. or Lupus though, because that's what my doctors were testing for, along with other diseases. Give yourself a while to deal with it, it gets better...
  24. Roast chicken, a bit of fabulous thick peppercorn salami, and warm homemade applesuce (Pink Lady apples with cinnamon & cardamon pod.) I'm pretty sure it was a cardamon pod, if not, it was some obscure spice that wasn't labeled from the Indian Grocer. The mystery applesauce was fabulous. DP loved it, but he grew up on applesauce out of a jar. ...
