  1. "When I mentioned possibly using other fruits, I had maybe apple or pear in mind. I haven't had a mango in years, though. Please reply back and let us know how it is! And you're welcome." Thanks for your feedback, Marie & Mushroom. I think the mango might work because I googled recipes for mango bread today and they look pretty much the same as...
  2. Eee Gads, I buy a big container of this every week, prefer it to OJ because it isn't so sweet. DP announced that Diane Sawyer was on national news outside Ocean Spray due to the arsenic posioning and reporting how many people have become sick from it. I didn't see the news release myself, but thought you'd be interested in case you didn't see the news...
  3. Glad you're back, looking forward to your recipes. Would it be better to start a new thread so that your recipes wouldn't get "lost"?
  4. I'm glad you had a great trip! I was just wondering about you last night so it's really cool that you posted tonight.
  5. Thank you!!! It was me who asked. I've got some frozen mango pulp going into the refrigerator tonight to try this out ASAP. Thanks again.
  6. Hi Booghead, 1. "Do you guys get sick more then 24 hours after being glutened?" Yes. Sometimes I get sick sooner, but sometimes I get a reaction 1-2 days after what I suspect is the culprit. 2. "Next Question, Itchy hands after showering. I have always had this on and off, never thought anything of it." I used to have tingling sensations...
  7. The gluten-free Bisquick made me sick too! I'm ok with Chebe's mix, can you get that locally? (I'm ok with dairy and eggs though, and buns made with it usually has a slightly gooey texture that you'll either love, tolerate or hate.) I bought 5 lbs. of King Arthur gluten-free flour but haven't found one recipe for it without gums, dag nub it.
  8. According to The University of Chicago Celiac Disease Center, "An average child visits eight pediatricians before being correctly diagnosed." Those statistics make me sick, and angry. I don't have children due to infertility, and applaud you mothers who figured things out on your own through research and trial. We all know you aren't doing it for...
  9. Ellie, your soup looks delicious! Thanks for sharing the recipe! We're having pressure cooked beef shanks, carrots and rice tonight. (Osso Busco recipe, just used a less expensive cut of meat.) DP gets cooking duty next two nights.
  10. You gotta get you one! Christmas is coming up. (Actually, though, I probably use my pressure cooker more often than the crock pot.) We had Greek style stuffed red peppers and zucchinis tonight. Delicious, and I figured since it had rice, veggies, meat and cheese I didn't have to mess with sides. DP gave it an A + I've started using red peppers more...
  11. Hi Elizabeth, and welcome to the forum! Yep, I've had dry eyes, not sure it is a symptom of celiac disease or just general allergies like drippy nose. I like Systane eye drops, which can be purchased OTC. Wow: bilateral hip replacements at such a young age! Do you have dejenerative joint disease or osteoporosis? Both are strongly asssociated...
  12. That's great info Lisa.
  13. I had negative blood tests and negative Upper GI. You'd have to tie me up and force feed me to stick gluten in my mouth. It makes me sick, and I don't need a diagnosis to tell me that. My 11 year old great niece has a kidney condition and my niece took her to a locally respected urologist. When the Urologist read the radiology report, he told my...
  14. Another thing I do is remind my doctors about testing for celiac disease. Instead of making small talk with them when they come in the exam room, I'll ask "How many patients did you test for celiac disease last month?" If they say "Um...none", I remind them that 1 in every 133 Americans have celiac disease, so if they're seeing between 25-30 patients a...
  15. This sounds so much like what I went through, even though no doctor suggested the celiac screen, even with family history. I was tested for Lymes disease, MS, Lupus, cancer, etc, etc. I finally did an elimination diet when I was profoundly depressed and had nausea, vomitting and diahreaaha every day. Amazing. Another thing that amazed me is that...
  16. Yes, and so can soy. Either/or can make you one sick puppy. Good luck.
  17. I understand your confusion. I was fine with whole foods cooked at home, couldn't do Almond, Hemp, Soy Milk or dairy anything, guess it was a guess. It worked for me. I never tried making my own rice, cashew or almond milk though. I pay close attention to the what goes in my mouth and later ramifications, and I'm pretty sure it was carrageenan that...
  18. I think all of Chebe products will be a little sticky in the middle. I tell myself it's because it's cheesy. I do find that if you follow package directions to a tee, or perhaps even cut back a wee bit on the liquid until you have kneaded the dough it helps cut down the sticky factor. When I'm mixing it, it seems super dry, like I need to add...
  19. Hi Karen, I used frozen dough from the original Chebe bread mix. Looking at the ingredients, I think the only difference between Chebe pizza crust, bread sticks, and bread mix is that they have baking powder in the bread mix and a few spices in the bread stick mix. So you can make rolls from the other mixes if you add some baking powder before kneading...
  20. LOL Lisa! I love that question from the SI-L. We had little sweet peppers (yellow, orange and red) stuffed with cheese and drizzled with olive oil, grilled until charred on all sides and the cheese melted, along with little grilled bunless sirloin burgers and potato salad. Dessert was dark chocolate nuggets dipped in leftover whipped cream...
  21. Hi Melissa, and welcome to the forum! I am undiagnosed but went gluten-free because I was literally at witts end with medical and psychological issues, none of which correlate with what you've gone through. I'm feeling so much better, but it took awhile, and there were some ups and downs. It can't hurt you going gluten-free, so try it...
  22. I'd make some chicken soup (homemade), take a hot soak in the tub, and try to relax. I'd think about if I could do school if I didn't have to take chemestry. Maybe drop chem if that's an otion and look at it later, when you're feeling better. I'd probably go to school, only because when I'm not feeling well and don't go to work I tend to focus too...

    ARCHIVED Soy

Hi Chad, Soy hurts me hard. After several months of going soy free, I'm tolerating soy lecethin now. (That's in all chocolate I think, so that's pretty important.) Hang in there!
  24. That sounds good, Karen! I'm stickin Asiago cheese on my grocery list! Speaking of Chebes, I baked two sandwich roll sized frozen Chebe dough this morning and sliced them in half (straight out of the oven, not a good idea, but I was on a mission!) I broiled the halves for a couple of minutes and they came out sort of like English muffins....
